It's like the early stages of a marathon, Jim, the finishing line seems so far away, but once you get to £100, it will seem a lot easier.

Not too bad so far Kags

    Question for you.

As you know i have been dabbling a little in these. What sort of roi % would you be looking in these.

Thanks  very  much Ger and Stu.

Stuarty I am not the best person to answer this, I am not really up on all that stuff, But I will do my best with an answer.

Top hu grinders           18-20%     avg roi that is. ( Aint that something)
Winning hu grinders     7-8 %       which is where I would like to think I am

My sharkscope for sng says 5.2% but this includes all the Dyms that I have played and I have lost more than my share of those over time. Hope this answers your question. If I am wrong on this I stand corrected, and if anyone has other views please share.

How is the new job going Jim?

Must say, those results are impressive. How many HU SNG's can you play at the same time & still maintain your win rate?

Ha Shinji, my favourite player cant believe he gone, scored last week for Dortmund.
He just wasn't physical enough for the English game though, pity class player.
Stapes referred to me one night on the show as masa kagawa the high stakes poker player, ha if only he knew.
Seen him a few times in Melbourne at aussie millions never opened his mouth for a week solid.

Used to play a heap of cash in the crown casino in Melbourne, what a place used to come alive in jan for the Aussie millions.
All the top players used to come, and I would spend all day every day I could railing them.
Met the Mrs one day for dinner there in the casino but had to take a leak on the way, there was 3 of us in the toilet  me ivey and Greenstein, they were on a break from a $100,000 buy in tournay and were discussing how they were playing, I could have stayed in there all night listening lol.

As you walked in the door of the crown poker room which is pretty small to be honest they used to have the bracelet for that year on show, me and the mrs were having a look and Mel Judah came over and chatted with us for at least half an hour. Talked about history of the Aussie millions and even about Stu Unger I just stared at him and couldn't believe my luck.

But the most impressive person I met of all would have to be Joe Hachem, a gentleman beyond belief, and I know he had his demons with tilt live and online but nothing would change my opinion.

Her good self bought me a masterclass with him at a time when he used to run a deepstack tournament in crown around 2010. Was a sunday morning I remember and lasted about 3 hrs, it was his first ever masterclass and he was shocking nervous, think there might have been 100 people or more there.

Anyhow to finish the story, he had a powerpoint presentation set up and it was really good. The aussies loved it and so did I to be honest, showed  you tube clips of his main event hu battle with that bloke I cant remember his name now, and went over his thought process over the last few hands. His brother Tony also gave a talk for 20 mins at the time he was hot news on the local mtt circuit and in truth had better results than Joe, apart from the obvious one. During the masterclass joe asked the crowd questions and whoever gave the right answer won a ticket into one of his deepstack events I think there was about 10 events and he had 10 tickets going, long story short I won one into a $100 dollar mtt, which was on during the next week. You had to go up at the end and collect your ticket from him, so I asked him for a photo and we had a wee chat nothing major,

But after leaving him I had a feeling of real motivation that I would do my best from now on in every tournay or even cash game. Went down to the bar in crown the class was upstairs decided to have a beer and if anyone seen me they would have though I was mad, smiling from ear to ear about the day I had. Decided that I would treat myself to a bit of cash down there you could play $1- $2 all the way up to high stakes, anyhow $1-$2 it was bought in for $100, was up and down usual story at one stage was up to $240 eventually because I am not a very good holem player got down to $40 but had a bit of respect of the table got the impression they didn't want me to top up. Then Mr hachem walks passed the table up to the high stakes area up the back and everyone done a bit of looking around at him the usual thing, at this stage I am thinking about going home suffered some shocking beats, I seen joe heading to the toilet and he had to pass my table on the way I made sure I got his attention just to say hello again, but he stopped and bent down to talk for a couple of mins mostly about the class and did I enjoy etc and tapped me on the back and said good to see ya again. The table looked at me when he went and asked do you know him, yes I said he a close friend :). Lost my $100 bucks but still went home smiling.

    Hi Kag

I've just read this through. Good luck with your challenge. It will be very tough but I hope you get there.

    Thanks Aj, Tikay and Jac.
    Happy somebody read it lol.
Struggling with volume again lately and when I do get a chance to hop on, I seem to be waiting too long for a game to start. Not the end of the world, will get there eventually.

    Hi Jim,

You chatted to me on a DYM Table 2 nights ago, but I could not reply, was 6 tabling & getting some grief from a chap who was not happy with Sky Poker Freerolls. That sort of convo does not fill me pleasure at the best of times, but when I have 6 Tables on the go......

    Apologies.

No prob Tikay, knew you were otherwise engaged.
With regards the freerolls I don't play them myself anymore as i dont really play holdem.
The old system would suit me better given the challenge I am doing, but I not going to get to excited about it either way.

    Day 16

    Played 19 W11 L8

    BR  €60.50

Played horribly today, no idea how I managed to finish with a small profit, but i'll take it.
There was a good bit of activity in these games today, long may that continue.
Starting to think about the €2 games now, might give them a go next weekend.

We wear the same shoes Jim. I'd prefer this, that or the other, but it's a Rewards scheme on a poker site, no more no less, so I'm not going to be bursting any blood vessels if it does not suit me. Two lads where chasing me from table to table complaining about some details of the Rewards Freeroll & got quite abrupt with me when I never insta replied. Ah well, never mind, I try not to get too excited these days.

Well done on a successful week on the Challenge.

    Day 17 and 18

    Played 4 £1.05  W4 L0

    BR €65.70

A wee bit disappointed with the amount of volume I am putting in, i was unemployed for over a year and that was the time to take on something like this challenge.

But obviously I would rather be working and struggling to play poker than playing poker and struggling to get work.
I am enjoying it though and I suppose that's the main thing, a year ago poker was the only thing I really had in my life that gave me any happiness but then when I lost it used to feel devastating to me.
Losing to me used to hurt so bad, whether it was a 30p dym or a £10 hu, but I really think now that I have other stuff going on I only now understand about how it really all works.

So I suppose the moral of the story is the more serious you take something is not necessarily the right road to go down,
and  that a bit of balance might hit the spot a little better, all in my opinion of course.
