In Response to Re: Women can't play poker. : Not me I was happy they were part of the casino entertainment. Loved the Hot Pants/ were you there.??? Girls like to dress seductively to tease blokes all part of Courting or have you forgot .... you want them to walk around in bed sheets . ! P.S The girls chose the outfits as corporate image not the Casino why should they object ? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and these girls were beautiful ..... not Tarts as was suggested. Good god fella stop digging. They are not there to tease blokes or to court. They are there to do a job which I found them to be really good at. The complaint is that they should not have to serve drinks or deal in such outfits if we are to encourage more women to play the game. They were not forced to wear Hot Pants ...... They chose to wear them ..... why should you enforce your views and values on them when their doing their job. Mary Whitehouse
wow is this really a discussion, it makesme laugh that there are somany sexist views out there, and we wonder why there are so few females playing poker atany level. and anyone reading this who have any form of clout in the industry or at a high level in this game should and need to take a long look at themselves, besides in contradiction to what some of you are saying , you are obviously doing quitewell with the game whether you are playing against men women or bored monkeys, so why does it really matter.
so to all those sexist cockwombles, grow a set be quiet and respect females in any arena
Think women only events are a good idea if they encourage more women to try live poker - think anything that promotes more people to play is a good thing.
Re DTD waitresses the management have obviously decided to try and emulate a Vegas type experience with skimpy outfits and massages etc but dont think it's working. Reminded me of Hooters which should be marketed as the UK's most awkward eating experience. Also can't think of anything worse than getting a massage at the poker table!
The Dusk till Dawn girls in hot pants were wearing the require uniform for the job. They were not Topless or did they flop their air bags on the tables. They were attractive young ladies catering for players needs. If more ladies were players and asked for the services of the Dream Boys .... I'm sure the organizers would have provided them. If your trousers didn't move that's your fault not the young girls. ? Posted by goldon
I found it very intimidating when I first walked into Dtd. Yes the girls are gorgeous and wearing skimpy outfits. Reminded me of the dallas cheerleaders if they put a tiny bit of weight on they are gone they actually get measured for their body fat percentage and get custom pelmets as wouldn't call them shorts for them to fit into. They work really hard and I really do feel sorry for them. To see more females actually playing poker would definitely be less intimidating also seeing men doing the waitressing as well as women. It all seems geared towards bringing the mal clientel in rather than the women. How many men do you see waiting the tables? None. How many males work behind the bar? A couple. We need to get passed the stereo typing of poker casino's and make it a more welcoming and less daunting place if women are going to take the leap into playing something that is a male dominated game.

lol :-) Actually I think the debate is brilliant, a real mix of views!
It is a bad day if we cannot talk as adults about these things.
Personally I feel that the real answer (if there is such a thing is not so black and white).
Something that highlighted this recently for me was Emma Watson's statement after she recieved a backlash from feminists because she posed in a provocative manner for a magazine shoot (she has been one of the most outspoken feminists recently). I don't agree with many of her points but she hit the nail on the head when she said that feminism shouldn't be about women being dictated to by anyone to act in a certain way, but rather having the choice to act/dress the way they want.
I would fight for the rights of women to be taken as seriously as men in the world of business, to be able to apply for the same jobs as men etc. In my household I do all of the shopping and 95%+ of the cooking and view myself almost as as far removed from being sexist as is possible. I treat people (male, female, straight, homosexual, bisexual, black, white etc) as they show me they deserve to be treated. There are some brilliant people and some total morons in every demographic of people.
Having said that, as much as I would fight for the rights of women to have the choice and opportunity to be career driven business people with the same amount of opportunity as men; I would also fight for the rights of women to dress scantily and flaunt their 'femininity'. It is about choice!
Just as some men would want to pump iron all day, preen themselves up and love to think everyone is ogling at them (I am not in this camp lol), some women value their looks and freely choose to flaunt this side of themselves. Each to their own (for all genders) in my opinion.
Now as to whether the poker tables is the correct place for this behaviour or not...
While I would have no objection to Chippendale types walking around the tables to offer aestetically pleasing scenery for the females (or males of that persuasion). I don't really think this is the image we should be wanting to put forward to the public of poker. Casinos (at least UK ones) have entry dress codes for a reason, they want to put forward a professional and respectable image. Therefore I don't think scantily clad people of any gender should really be part of the setup.

"This" what he said.! But still think they should've been allowed to wear suspenders & stockings.
The real problem was the Management allowing Players to smoke Vaporizes at the Tables puffing great clouds of smoke which eventually set the fire alarms off ( resulting ) in the Building being cleared. The Girls paid the price while standing in the freezing car park to rue the choice of Kylie hot pants as being appropriate. I did offer to cuddle one to keep her warm but TK beat me to it. ?

Been away for a couple of days, so just caught up with this "light the blue touchpaper" thread, and what a great read it is, with all sorts of brick bats, 'sound' logic and downright mischieviousness from the master stirrer Tony.
All I have to say on the matter is, by the way of a question: Who is the best player in all the Viva Las Vegas adventures Sky have hosted?

I was introduced to poker by my wife, she qualified for a main event , and once I watched it live I was hooked . I do not see too much difference in good play by men v good play by women, same goes for bad play. On the DTD girls outfit I commented to management when I visited that it was wrong to have the staff dress in such a manner , and a senior female staff member quickly agreed with me . It is a fantastic card room, well run....but I hope the ditch the lack of dress code soon.
In all seriousnous tho those sites are aimed at women whereas poker still seem to be aimed at blokes. Its like somoeone said earlier all the prizes are generally "mens" prizes whereaz win something in a bingo room and its more likely to be a manicure or a spa health day
I have played on a site recently where there seems to be more women than men. It was a bingo and slots site tho who have now intoduced a beta version for poker.
Ps - Have you ever tried to keep up with a women in a bingo hall. They go on auto-pilot marking off about ten cards at once where i,m struggling with one. Its a bit like multi-baling at poker
Free rolled it again. Hopefully this time will run deeper than at the UKPC. Not on this site Waller unfortunately but it was a freebie and I made the most of it.

dtd to have girls dress that way is so poor
