Hursty, don't worry about it mate! I'm only playing in the 8pm £10.00 buy in, before that maybe a cash game or two to steady my feet!!

I have never played in a proper live casino so for mey first game to be the £100 buy in would be stupid imo!!! The rest of the time I'm going to be railing the guys and enjoying the casino :o)

There is however a £50.00 buy in on Sunday at 3pm which if I do well the night before I may enter...we'll see!!

    I AM SUCH AN IDIOT!!!!

The hotel is booked, the money is in my passport, I reallocated my season ticket for my beloved City and my poker skills have been dusted off...all in preparation for my poker-tastic adventure to DTD with the boys and what did I do?

Well, I had a brilliant HU match with Eagle26 in the porkerman challenge where I enjoyed my first beer of the day!!! This resulted in me going to the pub and then coming home to a play poker all night on a mammoth 13hr drunken session! Pretty standard you may think however at 6am I was obviously delusionally confident of getting my train at 1pm......EPIC FAIL!!!!!

Now I have not a hope in hell of getting to Dusk Til Dawn in time to play this evening's event....GUTTED!!!!!

    So, my options are:-

    1. Drive down anyway as the stupid hotel is booked and paid for...
    2. Sit at home nursing my sore head and thinking about what a fool I have been...
    3. Go back to the pub and enjoy the afternoon sunshine putting it down to one of those things...

Repeat: I AM SUCH AN IDIOT!!!!!

When I left last night Chirpy Chip and Maxally were still in the tournament with 40ish players left - 18 get paid. Back today again and hopefully a dew more are coming today :) See ya there - by the way - it opens at 2pm but we are going for food first I think, so if your down early then come to one of the 3 restaurants accross the road - but I think we are going to Frankie and Benn ies :)

    Hi Folks....

Quick update from yesterday. I ended up in 21st place after pushing all in with A 10 suited against the chip daddy on our table who called with Q3 o/s and hit a 3.Good game. Only 3 off the money so really enjoyed the experience if not result!.
Unfortunately, and I hope he does not mind me mentioning it on here, Chirpy Chip was the bubble when he pushed with JJ v KJ with the K hitting. Very unlucky indeed.

Anyway, I am going back for more therapy today.

    Cheers,

    Alan

Thanks for the update Dylan and Max! Sounds like you guys had a good day and you seemed to get a couple deep in the tourny!

Wish I was there saying hello! Have good day again! Good luck to all!

Just back from Nottingham, had a great weekend of poker, but for me it wasnt a weekend of great poker ! I lasted about four hours in the main tourny on both days, reaching second break with a reasonable stack. But when I tried to change gear there was nothing there.
Left at 745, Dylan and Diggerman had registered for evening deepstack, while Tikay was trying his luck on the Omaha cash table. Surely someone from Sky Poker must cash soon !
Good time had by all, thanks for the company guys.

A big thank you to all the Sky Poker guys who came up (or down, across) to Nottingham on Saturday & Sunday - I loved every minute of the entire weekend.

Apologies if I forgot anyone, but if memory serves me correct, the folowing all appeared at some stage of the weekend.....

    ChumpyChip

    Browndogg

    TheMackem

    JAKALLY

    Delta

    IMAROCK

    Icklejack

    DiggerMan

As many know, Chumpy & Browndogg are brothers - terrific lads, both of them - but IMAROCK, another nice lad, is their Cousin, which was news to me.

Sadly, neither TRIP5 or Dohhhhhh managed to get there, hopefully when we do it again - & we will - they will be present.

None of us ran good in the Tourneys, to be honest, but we had a great time.

A few of us had dinner on Sunday at Frankie & Bennys, & I think the Cardroom Bar did a good trade all weekend.

I began the hedonistic poker weekend on Friday night by winning Luton's 59 runner £75 Freezeout, so I was freerolling all weekend.

In Saturday's £100 freezeout, I ran well early, & got my 10k up to 18k without undue fuss. There was a young Chinese kid on my Table who was awesome - Xhiu Xzyiuiouingxxzzzgh was his name I think - & luckily he was to my right, but he was a nightmare to play against,  proper little Dohhhhh, & I tried to avoid tangling with him.

Then a most iar hand went off. I decided to open up  bit, & with 4 limpers at 300-600, (no, I mean it - what on EARTH were they doing, limping at that stage?!) I popped it up to 3,000 with Kd-Qd. All folded quickly, but Xhiu tanked for a bit, then called. Whoops.

It came 3-3-4 rainbow, & he tapped the Table, so I bet out 6k into about 9k.He tanks for an age now, & I thought he was going to let go, but suddenly he says "I'm aw in". Pass, groan. I think he had a medium pair, & he'd outplayed me good & proper.

Gear change time, but I got in deeper trouble soon when my Kings got turned over, but with everyone happy to limp so often, I squeezed 4 or 5 times without reply & was soon back in my comfort zone.

I changed Tables when we were down to the last 40 of the 180 or so runners, & immediately spotted my "target", who was playing most oddly. He's my man, he'll double me or bust me. He was raising with all sorts, & shoving or calling all-in randomly.

He popped it up, I shoved with A-J, & he snapped with Ks-Ts. The flop was as ugly as it could be - 2 spades, 10 high, & I failed to improve, & that was that.

  • edited April 2010

I then sat in the £2 £2 Omaha game for 20 minutes, got lucky & nicked £300, then moved to the £5 £5 Dealers Choice.

I ran very well, & my £500 sit-down gradually increased to £900. This was helped by hitting quad queens in Super-stud & scooping. But after bleeding a few quid, down to maybe £600, I played a Super-Stud hand badly, made a very bad judgement basically, & to top that, my man had beautifully disguised quads eights. I had 2 pair & a low draw, so was trying to scoop with a low & a Boat, but I missed the low, & my high was drawing dead to his hidden quads, & so that stacked me.

Time to draw stumps for the day.

    lol so funny
  • edited April 2010

Sunday, after the Frankie & Benny meal - my first cooked meal or hot food in 10 weeks, as I'm on a seriously strict diet - we played the £50 Freezeout.

There was a seriously bad player on my opening Table, & we were all queuing up to get his chips. He could not possibly last until the first break, he limped into every single pot, lol, but it was all about who got his chips.

He was down to 4,500 (from his starting 10k) when I got my chance to stack him, & I played the hand (I had Queens) in such a way as to get the lot.

He Raised to 300 (50-100) - his first Raise all Tourney, though he had played every single hand - so I was slightly intrigued by this. Probably A-5, or 6-6, or somesuch. I made it 1,000 after deliberately & theatrically asking him "how many you got behind please,Sir?", & he had indicated 4,500.

He ummed & arred, then shoved all-in, & I beat him into the Pot - gotcha!, trapped him all ends up, happy days. On their backs. He slowly turns over an Ace, & then another Ace.......Whoops.

A rivered Queen got me there, which was a sick beat for the kid. Such is poker, it's a game of skill. Sometimes.

So I ran deep again, but exited in a truly horrific play, when I misjudged a guy who had been busy & shoved on him with Tens, & he made the Call sharpish with his Kings. As you do.

So, my positive variance from Friday at Luton had caught up with me, & my reads were not good.

I had an hour of £2 £2 Omaha, & Chinese Frankie as in a gambling mood. And so was I......

He & another guy had clearly decided to get it all in pre (it's Pot Limit of course) & a kid who had no idea re-popped Frankie. I knew that if I called the kid - who only had £70 in play - that Frankie would re-shove, so I pre-determined to call if he did. I was pretty sure Frankie had Aces.

It all went in, Kiddo with A-K-Q-J DS, & Frankie with bad (unconnected & unsuited) Aces. I had J-J-T-8 DS. Not the world's greatest play by me, but I was pretty sure what I was up against. I flopped a set, turned the flush & rivered the House for a £600 pot, nice start.

Back to the £5 £5 DC again, but no mistakes this time. I pocketed the Omaha profit, sat down at the DC with £400, & ran it up to £1,100 without much fuss or drama, though it was a bit irritating to drop £200 on my last hand of the night in an ill-judged Paduki hand.

All in all, a most pleasing weekend, & I continue to adore Live Poker.

I ran good in Friday's Luton Tourney, played bad in both Nottingham Tourneys, but ran good in the cash games all weekend, & ended a most pleasing £3k ahead in total. MBN. A shame I don't get time to play more Live Poker, but that's the way it is, & absence makes the heart grow fonder.

A great weekend, & we'll do it again.

I think I'll try & set up a Live Poker mini-weekend get together in Wales next - Cardiff or Swansea. If anyone is up for it, start a thread please, & we'll do it before Vegas.

I love this word. One of my favourites actually. Definition: Pursuit of or devotion to pleasure, especially to the pleasures of the senses. Does any word better describe the average poker junkie?

haha, I was soo gutted that I missed my train but we ended up setting up a 10 man sit and go to compensate so it was all good in the end! Next time I'll make better arrangements like turning up on the chuffing Friday!!!!

To be fair, Dohhhhhhh should have been in the same state I was as he was railing me with beer while I was having my first at 3pm on the Friday, that's where is all started to go wrong so I'm not surprised I wasn't the only one to miss it...

    1 thing TK...AJ??? REALLY????

    Epic ooops!!
