You want players making bad/lose calls all day The only flip of this is they make good calls, which you don't want If you oppo is making mistakes, this is GOOD long term Play NL4 and print money, don't bother with DYM until you have a spare £50 and then give £2 DYM a bash ps. your only stealing blinds in DYM when you have 5-6 bigs Posted by rancid
i agree with what you say.
im not a fan of dym. i feel a bad call can punish you more in a dym compared to cash.
i want bad calls all day long but i feel its harder to turn things around playing dym to cash
Also played a single PLO8 DYM, cashed. Not been playing much today, just been on the forum and messing about on the internet, lol. Got a ton of College work to do so will probably load up a single NL4 table and play at the same time, should hopefully make trigonometry slightly less tedious.

Finished that "session" if you can call playing 1 table for 48 minutes a session, +£1.09 - Not a bad profit today, sadly at college most of the day tomorrow, so probably won't get to play much, hopefully I'm wrong. Inevitably dropped out of the top 150 on the Sit 'n' Go leaderboard, but not too bothered about that right now, will just keep playing the odd PLO8 DYM when I feel like it, and grind a few DYM's towards the end of the month, depending on bankroll and whether top 150 is achievable.

Only played 3 PLO8 DYM's today, won the first one, second one the blinds got up to 300/600, ended up setting the short stack all in, he doubled up, I became the short stack, shoved, got called, lost again, bubbled.
The third one...sigh. Saw a few flops, the only hand I showed down all game was a nut house for the high pot, the rest I just missed the flop completely, every single time. Down to 1300 chips, 5 players left. Then the hand below happened. Thought I'd try to pick up the big blind pre-flop, marginal hand but probably better than what the BB had most of the time, decided to just go for it. Got called by Q887 in the big blind - Couldn't get a much worse starting hand if you tried. Anyway, missed flop, stuck my remaining chips in to try and get my opponent to fold, if opponent had a king, c'est la vie.
Yep, got called with Q887 on a KK2 board. Ahead, but not the best call in the world. Losing to any king, any overpair to 88 in my hand, which is definitely in my range given that I raised pre-flop and have only been putting money in the pot with a hand until now. Pray for running low cards to chop, an ace, or a jack, missed everything. Make notes, move on.
Will be back on NL4 tables tomorrow, only at college for a couple of hours so got most of the day to myself, nice long session tomorrow evening I hope don't know what's caused my PLO8 record to be so rubbish this month, only lost 24 DYM's out of 79 all last month, lost 10/17 already this month. Still need to look for some PLO8 training videos sometime, especially as the games don't seem as soft as they were this time last month. Any recommendations welcome

Having seen your game at PLO8 mate, I would recommend that you play more of this as one of your staples. Unfortunately I will not be playing for the next 3 weeks due to going on holiday, so the value may have left temporarily.

You know this is not a reg at PLO8. You were massive favorite, and were very unfortunate not to get the low and to win the high.

Yeah, true, guess we want these calls but doesn't make it any less annoying when they win the hand. Agree I should probably play more PLO8, most enjoyable game on Sky for me, just being careful not to play PLO8 too much and get bored with it.
So far today: Played a PLO8 DYM when I got home, played an NL4 table while cooking, won the DYM, and +£2.62 on the NL4 table, nothing better than having someone 3 bet all in when you have a set of Jacks

Ended up with KK against an opponent who was donk betting whenever he hit anything. Board came 557, he checked, I bet, and a call. Ace on the turn, check check, river queen, he shoved, which considering how he'd played everything until then, I knew he'd either hit his queen or flush, snapped him off, turned out it was the latter of the two. Oops! I suck at Bounty Hunters )
Spent the last hour and a half playing NL4, started off pretty badly, raised a few hands where the flop came down really badly or I just completely missed. Then this happened:

Had to top up about £3, was pretty card dead for a while and my stack on all 3 tables stayed at around £4. Started getting a few hands but not getting paid off, flopped a couple of sets, then limped with 22 to try and set mine as cheap as possible, and got paid

4th PLO8 DYM went badly. First hand I was in the big blind, with a hand I'd usually fold, checked, flop gave me an up + down straight draw, and bottom pair. Bet, call. Picked up a rubbish flush draw on the turn and got check/raised, hit the flush on the river, bet thinking my opponent might be scared of the flush and fold whatever he had, but got re-raised again, had to fold as my flush was pretty rubbish and the board paired.
Second hand, had KKxx, flopped middle set, bet pot, and someone called with a gutshot and hit it, I went out because I thought "He wouldn't have called on the flop with just a gutshot". But he did, sigh. Pretty pleased with that though as he was a reg, so useful info and hope to be on his table more if he's calling pot bets to hit gutshots

Started playing an NL4 table, every other table was full, I was going to join another couple of tables and grind for a while. Then started winning and totally forgot to play more than 1 table Ended the session when I was left sitting at the table on my own with just over £11 in front of me. 40 minutes and I made £7, who'd want to get a job when you can just single table NL4, eh? :P

As for the targets I set myself for January at the beginning of this thread:
1) Grinding low stakes DYM's - Definitely failed this, although that's not such a bad thing, NL4 FTW. 2) 5% of bankroll - Managed so far this month. Just need to keep going.
3) Qualify for League Stars Freeroll - This is, err, slightly more difficult. Currently on 128 STT points, and to qualify that way, I think I'll probably need somewhere in the region of 1,000 this month. At the moment, I'll probably end up with about 700 or so, which would be a solid platform if I went for it next month, but won't get me in this month unless I increase my PLO8 and NLH DYM volume.
Knew as soon as the hand above happened, it'd be one of them sessions. Started by having to top up about £4. Definitely hit the flop a lot less than 1/3rd of the time. Took about an hour before I won a pot of more than 50p:

Then got A8 in the big blind, checked as I wouldn't usually play A8, especially not out of position when pretty much everyone limped. Flopped middle pair, bet, and got 5 calls. Turn was a 3rd diamond, got checked by everyone. River gave me trips, bet, got re-raised, shoved, ended up losing to someone with the 2nd nut flush. Not a clue why he didn't bet on the turn with 5 opponents, so thought he had trips and I probably had him outkicked.

Started off playing 4 tables, went bust on 1 of them (the guy who won the A8 pot disappeared with my money, then the whole table fell apart, grr!) So just played 3 tables for the rest of the session.
Call Lane: -£4.00 - Was card dead on this table most of the time and just hovered around £4 until the A8 hand. Nailsea: -£2.77 - Lost the big pot early on, topped back up to £4, was up to about £8 on here before the A9 hit his gutshot on the river. Banstead: +£4.25 - One big hand (AK vs. AQ) on here, otherwise not much happened. Pall Mall: -£1.60 - Kept going down to £3 or so, then would win a pot, then drop back down to £3 again, happened for the whole session.
Total for session: -£4.12
7/1/12, 2:53pm
Bankroll: £105.63 (Including £15 C4P due, and £50 deposit) So far today: -£6.37
All 4 DYM's were awful, shoved KK into AA, then AK vs A9, 9 on the turn, then shoved A10 to isolate the short stacks, chip leader (not by much) calls with an underpair which holds up, when really, he should probably be folding AA in that spot. 4th game, someone limp/called with AK when I shoved with Pocket 10's and hit. Reminded me why I hate DYM's.
Will be playing PLO8 DYM's for now, seriously need a NLH DYM self-exclusion button.
7/1/12, 4:03pm
Bankroll: £99.98 (Including £15 C4P due, and £50 deposit) So far today: -£12.02
Two massive draws in both games, one where if I was using the rule of 4 I would've won the hand more than 100% of the time, apparently, missed both.
Took 20p off someone on the HU NL4 Cash table, didn't know I got C4P for that, and the standard of opponents isn't exactly high, so will have to play there more often :P 7/1/12, 4:45pm
Bankroll: £95.68 (Including £15 C4P due, and £50 deposit) So far today: -£16.32
Wonder if I'll be the only person to post on Page 3 of this thread :P
Looked at my records and realised that so far, I've not played many DYM's this month, the total is probably only a single session for a serious DYM grinder, and a lot of better players than me go through bad patches, so decided to give them another go.
£2.30 BH - 43/141, 1 bounty, £0.75 (-£1.55)
£1.15 DYM - W0 L1, -£1.15
£3.30 DYM - W1 L1, -£0.60
£5.50 DYM - W2 L2, -£2.00
8/1/12, 11:59pm
Bankroll: £100.52 (Including £15 C4P due, and £50 deposit) So far today: -£5.42
How things change... This time last week I was complaining about how much I hate DYM's, today I've played 6, won 6 (Okay, one of them was AA vs. 74 and I sucked out pretty badly), and loved every minute of it Have now won my last 8 DYM's including last night, wonder how long I can keep it up.
C4P has been paid now too.

hi Evil keep it up i did the same, put in £50, then withdrew it at some point, which meant i was playing with winnings money think u will do the same? devon Posted by devonfish5
Hiya,
Yeah, that's the plan eventually, not sure exactly when I'll withdraw it again, but it will definitely withdraw in the future once I've built my bankroll up to a level where withdrawing my £50 again won't affect the level I'm playing at.
I was originally only playing with what I'd turned my welcome bonuses into, but was getting fed up with only playing £1.15 and £2.25 DYM's and not being able to do much else with my bankroll.
You know you're running good when 3 players are all in on the DYM bubble, AKs vs AK vs QQ, QQ holds up and you cash because you had more chips at the start of the hand than the other guy with AK. Will post hand later when on the other computer with Firefox as Chrome doesn't like pasting hand histories :P
£3.30 DYM - W6 L2, +£9.60
£5.50 DYM - W2 L0, +£9.00
£2.20 7:15 DTD - 119/173 - Shoved with nut flush draw, missed, got short stacked. Shoved A8 into 99, missed.
£1.10 7:45 DTD - 66/167 - Uber aggro opponent (chip leader) 3-bet shoved for the 384th time, called with A10, he had aces. Sigh.
£2.20 8:30 DTD - 82/169 - Lost chips early on, got moved to a passive table with 2 away players on my right, so was getting a lot of walks. Eventually ended up with around 2800 chips, blinds 75/150, 3 bet shoved in the BB with 88, called by KQ, queen on the flop.
Facebook Freeroll - Out around 500th, wasn't really trying, just entered for the sake of it as I was playing the DTD anyway, playing all in or fold :P

Getting donk called to death and losing, running into big hands blind vs. blind, and just generally running terribad today. One hand I shoved with junk blind on blind to steal the blinds, got called by a hand that I was dominating and lost. Enough said.
Probably tilting a bit towards the end, which wasn't helped by having Dad stood behind me while I was trying to play 3 or 4 tables, telling me that online poker is stupid because the house always wins and I'll end up losing all my money in the end blah blah blah. Of course, he religiously buys a lottery ticket every week and has for the last 15 years or so, but let’s not go there.
Believe it or not, I was actually +£11 at one point today. Looks like I’m back to where I was this time last week, just with more STT league points and more C4P.
10/1/12, 11:49pm Bankroll: £91.57 (Including £50 deposit) So far today: -£26.55 C4P: 391 STT League points: 261 Cash League points: 131 MTT League points: 0
As I have just under 30 buy-ins @ £3.30, I’ll be playing £3.30’s, either looking to spin it up to 40 buy-ins, which is a level I think is a more appropriate bankroll for DYM's, or if I drop below 25 buy-ins, I'll probably go back to NL4 until I have 40 buy-ins @ £3.30 (£132), which is what I consider to be a big enough BR for DYM's.
EDIT: Removed a paragraph, having re-read JohnConnor's DYM blog which I obviously didn't read in enough detail - Multitabling = NOT 20 buy-ins, fail for me!

im not a fan of dym. i feel a bad call can punish you more in a dym compared to cash.
i want bad calls all day long but i feel its harder to turn things around playing dym to cash
Good luck with this EvilPingu.
PLO8 hand, pre flop odds.

53% Low Pot 8%

Won another PLO8 DYM, didn't play much else because I was being lazy. Just entered the £400 GTD BH for £2.30, so fingers crossed
Spent the last hour and a half playing NL4, started off pretty badly, raised a few hands where the flop came down really badly or I just completely missed. Then this happened:
Ludham: -£0.91
Sunnyton: £1.20
Chapel Drive: £2.35
For a total of +£2.64 Not much C4P at this level, but I'll live :P
6/1/12, 8:45pm
2nd orbit, limp with 66, flop top set, turn quads
7/1/12, 1:03am
Yesterday: +£12.82

£2.25 NLH DYM - W0 L3
All 4 DYM's were awful, shoved KK into AA, then AK vs A9, 9 on the turn, then shoved A10 to isolate the short stacks, chip leader (not by much) calls with an underpair which holds up, when really, he should probably be folding AA in that spot. 4th game, someone limp/called with AK when I shoved with Pocket 10's and hit. Reminded me why I hate DYM's.
Will be playing PLO8 DYM's for now, seriously need a NLH DYM self-exclusion button.
7/1/12, 4:03pm
So far today: -£12.02
Two massive draws in both games, one where if I was using the rule of 4 I would've won the hand more than 100% of the time, apparently, missed both.
Took 20p off someone on the HU NL4 Cash table, didn't know I got C4P for that, and the standard of opponents isn't exactly high, so will have to play there more often :P
