Got to go in to College today for 10 minutes to speak to somebody, which is a PITA as it takes me 3/4 of an hour to walk there. Total waste of time, and no early morning NL4 grind for me today
As I got free entry into tonight's Sky Sports BH, I've thrown in the extra £3.30 to enter the mini and I'll be going for the Jackpot tonight I have also dropped out of the Top 150 on the Sit 'n' Go League, and I want to double my C4P tally in the last week of the month, so expect to see me playing more NLH and PLO8 DYM's between now and the end of the month.
Felt like cr ap this morning so took the day off college. Was going to play PLO8 all day, until a pop-up about TV DYM tables appeared. Found a table which looked like really good value, and I saw just how much value there was when someone played AA face up (to the point where I looked at my computer screen and said to myself "He's definitely got aces", and a player shoved with 10's on the flop. Indeed, the other guy had AA and snap called, and won the hand. When there was 4 players left - me, an away guy, and two players that were constantly betting into each other, I was loving my life. I loved my life even more when the away guy came back, and someone limp/called with Q8, flopped middle pair, and doubled me up with QQ. More TV DYM's please Sky, because they're softer than a baby's bottom. (Massive sample size of 1 TV DYM FTW)
Played one of the new Timed Donkfests, and with blinds at 100/200 and 900 chips left, I paid the blinds then got moved from the button to UTG on another table, where I picked up 88, and shoved into AA. *insert "Sort it out Sky!" rant here*.
Also played (short stack) briefly (as in 5 minutes before Poker_Fail busted me with 66 vs AK AIPF) at a Master Cash table. Lost my fiver, opened up 9 NL4 tables, spent about £20 on top-ups after just running terribad to begin with, eventually pulled it back, with the help of JJ vs TT on a JTx flop for a pot of about £17. Finished with a decent profit.
Plan on grinding NL4 a bit more for the rest of the month, I enjoy STT's and tournaments but make more money from cash, so I'm planning on getting my BR up rather than being content with small profits, which then get spent on tournaments which I fail to cash in and I end up being a break even player at best. If I didn't play for the rest of the month, I will have made 88p this month once C4P gets paid. Sigh.
Also got £1 on Leeds to beat Pompey (6/4) and Southampton to beat Watford (11/10) tomorrow, so fingers crossed

That was a fun mastercash table!
A good portion of your C4P is from the free tounrey entry, rubdown ftw

Despite having "Pingu" in my name, I've never actually watched Pingu in my life - I usually use "Evilpengwinz" or "Evilpenguin78" on other sites, but being limited to 10 characters on Sky meant I had to change that. Didn't want a totally different username to everything else, so "EvilPingu" it was.
In Response to Re: Diary in desperate need of interesting thread title and author. : Better still, you had position on her That was a fun mastercash table! A good portion of your C4P is from the free tounrey entry, rubdown ftw GL : ) Posted by Poker_Fail
I'm sure there's an innuendo in there somewhere but I'm too tired to figure it out, lol. And them C4P are more than welcome - I remember when I got into the UKOPS Main Event for free, the 220 C4P from the ME and the satellite pushed me into the next tier of C4P, so I was basically getting paid £10 to play in the UKOPS Main Event
Master Cash table was fun while it lasted, which for me was all of about 5 minutes until you took my money, lol.

Sunday 26th February
Nothing of any interest outside of Poker today. Finally getting a couple of tournament cashes in the last few days, long may it continue
10th place in the FLOPS BH is a good start, could've been better had my AQ not lost AIPF to Pokertrev's Q7 soooooooooted. Back myself to at least cash in both of the PLO8 events, so think I've got a decent chance in that ARL2 might have to go out of the window though, can't really afford it, don't like timed tourneys either. Will probably just enter the Hi-lo event (12 minute blinds ) and give the rest a miss from now on.
Need to make sure I get to 1k C4P at least, considering I was hoping for 3x that at the start of the month, I'm slightly disappointed with not playing more, but not the end of the world.

14:45 Bounty Hunter (£2.30) - 10/88, 5 bounties, £2.64 + £3.98 19:45 Deep Stack (£1.10) - 159/163...Flopped 2 pair < Opponent turning top set. Should've found the fold button, but nooooo />_>
Found a mistake in my records, so I actually have 90p more than I thought I had, yay lol. Ran terribad all day, and only lost 18p, actually pretty pleased with that tbh.
14:55 Omaha Hi-Lo (£1.10) - 14/14, Middle set vs. top set against a pla yer who I had notes on and knew he'd happily get his money in with a lot less than top set. UL. 19:15 £150 GTD Deep Stack (£2.20) - 203/207, crazy player actually had a hand for once.
NL4, 15:46 - 18:22, +£3.12 - Terrible session, ran KK into AA, QQ into KK, overpair into a luckbox who hit running 7 8 for a straight. Somehow still ended up with profit, as the only time my hand held up all session was a £13 pot.
Enjoyable read EP! Would be interested in another PLO8 session sometime. Posted by Glenelg
Cheers I might try and get another PLO8 free play session going again at the same time, or sometime over the weekend - Will bump the old thread later in the week
Just played a single PLO8 DYM (which I cashed in), so +£1.75 today. Had a bet on the cricket, Martin Guptill to score 100 in the 2nd ODI vs. SA at 7/1. Fingers crossed
Also won another Sky Sports BH seat on the live show, although not sure whether it's for this Thursday (in which case, I won't be able to play ¬_¬) or next Thursday. Need another 94 C4P tomorrow to reach the 1k mark, so decent grind tomorrow hopefully
Woke up this morning and checked Cricinfo to find that the guy who I bet on to get a century (Martin Guptill) got out for 58 Oh well, only lost a quid. Slightly annoying as I was thinking of betting on him to get a 50 @ 2/1, then I thought "100 = 7/1, oh go on then..." - Sigh!
Didn't really feel much like playing this evening, tried playing some DYM's to get up to 1k C4P, but got bored, and decided there was no point for the extra £2 or so, as I'd probably lose that much playing badly to get there.
Set myself the target of 3k C4P this month, somewhat optimistically, expecting to move up the stakes in DYM's. Got fed up of DYM's after a few days, spent most of the month just playing whatever I felt like playing, so missed my original target by a country mile.
Despite that, I think this month has been a pretty significant month in my Poker "career". Firstly, I've learned to play 8-9 NL4 tables profitably, which has been the difference between another break even month and making money. My average session seems to have got longer too, I can now manage to play for 2-3 hours without spewing all my money like a total donk. Also got entered into SPT Brighton, which is on Saturday 10th March. Not expecting too much as it'll be my first time playing live, but it'd be nice to end up with a Hendon Mob flag and a few quid. Infact, money doesn't matter, I just want a flag
Nothing much irl to write about really, still hoping to end up at University in September next year. Should probably get a job sometime, but it's kinda difficult to motivate myself when I look at my spreadsheet and think "I can make just as much money an hour playing 9 NL4 tables as I can stacking shelves in Tesco, NL4 is more fun, and I don't have a boss telling me when to play".
----
Bankroll: £126.47 (Including £50 deposit) C4P due: £7.65, £5 PTN bonus, plus extra C4P depending on South West's finishing position. This month: +£21.50ish, plus PTN C4P boost.
Tournaments: Have been really lazy recording tournament stuff this month...Slap on the wrist for me. 2 cashes - A 2nd place in a £1.10 PLO8 tournament, and 10th out of 88 in a Bounty Hunter. Best moment of the month was coming back from having 20 chips after the 2nd hand in a Bounty Hunter to end up 16th out of 69 runners...Unfortunately got AIPF 10's vs. J7s and opponent rivered a flush, so no cash, but going from being all in on the big blind in the first level, to being in a position where if I win a 70/30, I probably cash, was pretty epic.
March targets (Subject to change) 1) Cash at SPT Brighton (Optimism ftw! I want a flag so bad...) 2) Play 30,000 hands @ NL4 3) 2,500 C4P 4) Build bankroll up to a level where I can move up to 8 x NL8 tables - £500 should suffice.
How do you assess the up and coming ODI between Sri lanka & Aus? After the game the other day anything can happen.
You gotta fancy Dilshan to get a few again? He seems to have very hot & very cold runs of form.
Aussies already through to the final so may not be up for it 100%
Thoughts?
Wud be interesting if you keep posting your bets, hard lines with Guptil, I watched it & the pitch was a belter, expected him to get 3 figures once he got in!

Yeah, I'll often stick a couple of quid on the cricket - Will stick all of my bets on this thread from now on if I remember I didn't watch the SL v India ODI, gutted when I saw the scorecard the next day - missed a cracker by the looks of it
The problem with Dilshan is that he can smack the ball all over the place one game, it'll come off and look great, then he'll get out in the next 10 matches swinging at a ball a metre outside off stump and getting an edge through to the keeper. The Indian seamers are slower than Bopara, with the exception of Yadav who looks promising but has also leaked runs whenever I've watched him, so whether Dilshan will be able to repeat his performance against a much better Australian attack will be interesting to find out.
Australia have called up James Pattinson to the squad, so if he plays, then he's going to be trying to fight his way into the side on a more permanent basis, and they won't want to go into the finals against Sri Lanka having lost to them 2 days before, so I think they'll definitely be up for it.
Was surprised at Guptill not getting to 100, he's been in incredible form recently, that pitch was dead flat, and the boundaries there were tiny - Geoff Boycott could've played a forward defence and it would've gone for a straight 6 on that ground...
9 x NL4, 15:03 - 16:31, -£7.04...One of them sessions where every opponent's 2 outer hit on the river, had set over set twice too.
14:55 PLO8 (£1.10) - 13/14, got KO'd with AA67 vs a bad player who had been playing every hand, bluffed and showed it twice, turned over a set of 9's... Sigh. 18:50 £50 GTD Speed Rebuy (£1.10 + 1 x £1.10) - 32/58, Shoved 10's on the button, BB woke up with AA and they did that peculiar "holding up" thing that they talk about in Area 51. Terrible call really, got lucky 22:25 PLO8 (£3.30) - First out, spewed all my chips first hand -_- Should just start open folding my big blind or something.
With the exception of Leeds losing to Southampton, today was pretty awesome Crushed £5.50 DYM's and made just under £30 - Was £41 up at one point, but in the last 4 games, I cashed in 1 and bubbled the other 3, reducing my profit for today to £28.90 - Can't complain though.
well done Evil, you,ve had worse days!!! lol devon Posted by devonfish5
Cheers Had another good day today, not quite as good as yesterday but I'll definitely take another £16 profit nonetheless.
Realised that I only have £4 in my bank account, so need to get money out of my savings account tomorrow for train fare to SPT Brighton, and side event entry so I have something to do once I've donked my chips off in the main event.
Didn't think I had qualified for this month's League Stars Freeroll, until I tried to register, somewhat optimistically, and it let me in! Another opportunity to get crushed by players much better than myself, hooray
Bankroll has really taken off this month, +£60 already in March
And running like god...Heard there's a promo for winning 10 DYM's in a row for Priority Club, just a shame I was about 9k points off last month, as I've been close twice already this month.

Brilliant day today, saw the Master Cash table was televised so decided to take that opportunity to have a shot, finished the session £59 up, flopping sets for fun, to give me a total of £88 profit
Withdrew train fare, and spending money for SPT Brighton from my savings account. I was disappointed to find that as I'm 18, I now have to pay tax on my savings, and the robbing bankers only gave me £9 interest...
Had free entry into the Sky Sports BH, so chucked in the extra £3.30 for the mini as well, played both, and...
FREE £15k Sky Sports BH - 226/490 + 1 Bounty (£11.25), Shoved turn for about 1.5x the size of the pot, opponent called and hit one of about 7 or 8 outs. Played the hand well, got a dodgy call, want bad calls but just not the bad river card that sends you out of the tournament.
£1,200 Mini BH - 265/625 + 1 Bounty (£1.48), I had K9 on the button and raised, someone limp/called with AJ, I bet 1/2 pot on an 8 high flop, got called by OOP limper, turn was a J and I shoved...Sigh.
In summary, 2 players got lucky and knocked me out of both tournaments. Which is a good thing, shows how much value there is in the Thursday BH tournaments, so just more motivation to keep building my roll and enter more of them in the future
Feel like a right idiot reading the first page or two of my diary and complaining about bad players )

No point posting my Main Event bounty as that was just me winning a race against a short stack.
Back from SPT Brighton early, unfortunately. Great day out though, and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Started the day making a few quid from the most unexpected source - The train ticket machine went crazy when I pressed the refund button and spat out ALL of the pound coins in the machine. Unfortunately, it was 6am and there was only about £4 already in the machine that I hadn't put in there myself. If only it was mid-afternoon and gave me several hundred quid... Oh well, saved me £4 on my train ticket, I guess :P It also gave me a credit thingy for £65,535 and a load of them for -£1, too. How bizarre.
Turned up at the venue ridiculously early (I got to Brighton at about 9:30...), expecting to find a Sit 'n' Go running or something. Alas, the only people there were Grandad49 and his daughter - Chatted to them for a while before deciding it would be a good idea to leave the casino before I spent all my money on Roulette.
Came back before the tournament started, waited for what seemed like an eternity until 2pm and Tikay's announcement to shuffle up and deal. Didn't recognise many of the names on my table at the beginning, with the exception of Mariusz, who won one of the SPT's earlier this year.
The tournament itself went pretty badly, to be honest. Started out okay, picking up a couple of small pots by being aggressive in the first level, chipped up to about 5,500 before having a bit of an accident - Short stack limped for 100, I raised to 350 from the SB with K9o, which is THE greatest hand in Texas Hold'em. If you're ever in a pot with me, and I 6 bet shove, my range is pretty much AA, and K9. And maybe 72. But anyway, limper called, flop was A52. I decided to jam, and represent a big ace. My opponent then said something along the lines of "I put you on AK/AQ", before deciding to call with AJ. Hmm, interesting call if he puts me on them hands... Turn and river bricked and I was down to about 3,300 chips.
Got to the 150/300 level with my stack pretty much the same, decided with 11bb to shove 64 on the button, snap called by AJ in the blinds, first card on the flop was a 4, my hand held, and I doubled up Shortly after, I had JJ v ATs against a short stack, Jacks held and I'm up to 10k chips.
Then it all went wrong - I went completely card dead, kept getting into situations where I'd raise to take down the blinds, then get 3-bet by somebody and have to muck my 7 high. That, combined with me forgetting to announce "Raise" the one time I did have a strong hand, chucked in a 1,000 chip only to be informed I'd just limped in by accident... Sigh!
Down to about 6k chips, blinds 300/600 with 50 ante, and I raised to 1,300 on the button to take down the blinds, but because I was too busy watching football on the big screen, I didn't notice someone had gone all in from early position. Cue the floor being called over, and a very nervous few moments not knowing whether I'd have to call all in (Tbf, I had T7s, it was one of the best hands I'd been dealt all day...) - In the end, the ruling was that 1,300 was less than half the amount that of the shove and I got my chips back, and I could just muck the hand. Phew! Won't do that again...
Eventually busted out right at the end of Level 7, down to about 5.5k chips with blinds at 300/600 and 50 ante, about to go up to 400/800 with 100 ante within the next hand or two. Folded around to me in the cutoff with A9, shoved, SB calls with AK, I missed, game over.
As a whole, tables were very mixed in ability. Had a couple of the Hitsquad guys either side of me at one point, who both seemed pretty solid, and a couple of other names that I recognised, but also had someone who was limp/calling a lot, and two players raising to 2k with blinds at 200/400. Getting the raises through, but 1,200 or even 1,000 does the same job. Think the penny eventually dropped for both of them when they started seeing everyone else was raising a lot smaller and they started doing the same :P
Was thinking of railing for a bit and playing the side event, but realised that if I left when I busted out, I could get the last train home, so went for that option instead. Tbh, if I'd busted out 10 minutes later, I'd probably still be in Brighton, crushing the side event ofc )

In Response to Re: Diary in desperate need of interesting thread title and author.: I'm sure there's an innuendo in there somewhere but I'm too tired to figure it out, lol.

Monthly review post will appear below shortly.

Tournaments:
Have been really lazy recording tournament stuff this month...Slap on the wrist for me.
March targets (Subject to change)
1) Cash at SPT Brighton (Optimism ftw! I want a flag so bad...)
2) Play 30,000 hands @ NL4
3) 2,500 C4P
4) Build bankroll up to a level where I can move up to 8 x NL8 tables - £500 should suffice.

Terrible call really, got lucky
22:25 PLO8 (£3.30) - First out, spewed all my chips first hand -_- Should just start open folding my big blind or something.

Back to grinding, and break even today. Would've liked a profit but hey, 100 C4P and not lost a penny, it'll do I guess :P
