Villain raises utg to 3 on 50p £1 table, I have Aq as i wish to isolate and outplay post flop so I raise the pot.
He calls.
Flop A Q J rainbow.
he bets, and I put him allin. He instacalls with 3 4 s.
What is all that about? Even a maniac doesnt make that call.
Not too shabby a call when turn is 4 and river a 4!!

THis is a great example of a good fold in a 3 way pot. I flop a monster but know im beat and reluctantly throw away the hand. Even better that i folded, because the hand that had me beat lost to a bad river card.

turn 8 - I check to see if I can get a bet that tells me what she has - she checks
river A - I hit top FH, all in
raised 8x min bet pre flop, got called with 8-4, had written of opponent having an 8 and had her on a pocket pair for weaker FH.
I don't see where I went wrong in this pot?!

In the 3k double stack, very early stages.Few reads (played 12 hands only, villain folded all apart from the hand prior and the hand in question, firstly on button and second in cutoff). My reads as it stood then was that he was a decent player, and was looking to play always in position- therefore had a good knowledge of the game.
Based on that, I made a speculative call looking to outplay him on a suitable flop- last hand he c-bet his raise and took it down, and made the same play this hand- I floated, feeling he was less than strong, then he tanked and bet strong on turn. I then made my move.
Two questions really- one, was my 'story' believable enough (my thinking was based on his ability, he would respect a call then a reraise on turn more than a flop reraise, since he had seen me play in position and c-bet flops) so didn't want to make an obvious flop steal which he may have reshoved on me. As soon as I saw the two queens, my thoughts were it's highly, highly unlikely he has one, and how best to represent one in my hand.
Two, is this too risky a play? Sure, it worked this time- gave me a buzz and felt like I'm really playing poker, but based on early game and the general standard, should I be risking 1/4 of my stack? I felt I could probably play just as well from 3k as I could from 4k based on the structure, but is this a bad strategy and should I be thinking about being a lot tighter?
