    Hi Tikay

Thx for the response on resixable tables - sounds like a complicated one

I was just wondering - I heard you mention about the APAT series last week. I,ve started playing live myself a lot more now and have been plating the nuts league for a few weeks. I also just started playing the Redtooth leugue. I,ve never played them before but i was wondering what you thought of these leaugues and any experiences of Regional finals or National Finals and any negatives or positives about them as i,ve asked afew friends and different ppl say different things about each

I,ve played in 4 SPT,s and am trying to get to Luton, but the advantage with the nuts leugue and redtooth leaugue is they are both within a mile of my flat.
Do you think this is the best way to (apart from the SPT,s of course) get better and are there any other live leaugues you know of which i wouldn,t have to travel to far and is within my BR - which as you probably know i,m a micro-low stakes player.

Any advice on any tours would be greatly appreciated  - EDIT : esp after i,ve just flooded the bathroom floor while writing this post. whoops

    Thx

    Paul

    Tikay,,,,

i'm sure this has been asked / mentioned many times but you constantly preach about raising pre flop with premium hands.

just out of curiosity, do you play much on sky 2/4p nlh?

try raising in poistion with ak suited and see how many callers come along...... it's getting more like facebook zynga poker lately.

    thanks

When you have AKs, do you want people to call with worse hands or fold them? It can be more swingy, but chances are when you make TPTK, you're still in good shape to be in front, but sometimes you just gotta learn to C/F AKs when you completely miss and it's 4way.

Would limping cause less people to call and see a flop? The trick with your big hands is to find the biggest possible amount people will still call with their weak hands, I find 5x (20p) is a good open size at 4NL, and add 4p for every limper

Mr Kendall i wonder if that was peer pressure from a mate lol. The mind is deffo a weird thing

In Response to Re: Ask Tikay? : Hi seppe, Ther West Coast Main Line Tender? You decribed it pretty well imo, but it's easy for us to knock & diss when we only know one side of the story. Everything happens for a reason..... I happen to believe thsat Government & Business don't mix very well. In fact, I don't think thry mix at all, they reuire different skillsets, Governments are slow & lumbering aninmals, whereas businesses need to be more nimble, & address different priorities, so my personal view is that Railways should ALL be private, & the Government stop interfering. We don't need a Nanny State to look after us. Or maybe we do..... Seafood taste nicer at the seaside? Lol, it's all in the mind. The mind is a very strange thing indeed, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Have you ever thought about peer pressure? Now there is one powerful thing. And yet you cannot touch it, or see it. Magic?

    Hi mr Kendall.

Sowi forget my silly ak vs q9 post that was just abit of fun.

On a more serious note, The mind its avery interesting topic. from the age of 4 till about 16/17 i was a big watcher of the wwf/wwe as kids do lol. But afew week ago i googled "were are they now wee". I came across a interesting documentary about a wrestler who killed his wife & kid. The documentary was about why he did what he did. They came to the conclusion that because he was a wrestler(even tho its all scripted) his head as took such a poundin over the years it was like he had alzeimars(spelt wrong maybe) & the brain of a 85 yr old person so couldnt have know what he was doing. They also mentioned as it was in american the incident happened that its regular in american football. Now these were scientist speaking about this, but ive only heard of 1 incident in the uk with a rugby player taking his own life afew years back. Whats your thoughts.

    Hi

You mentioned you were a golf club captain.
Just wondering as you're from Derbyshire if it's one I know?
I recently joined Horsley Lodge after playing at Mickleover for about 20 years.
    Have you played either?

hi Rainman.....a fine example of the community at it's best that tourney. Ran so well by Mike (woogie), you say you find the advice useful with friendly players, could i suggest a couple of things, .... head over to the team talk section of the forum, have a look around and see if you fancy joining any of the teams, where you will get any help you need fgrom fellow teamies, if this isn't for you no worries. Also could I suggest you try the Forum DTD tournies every monday night ....iut's basically more of the same and all the regulars in the afternoon league play it, and believe me we will make you most welcome.

    Good Luck at the tables

    Morning limrob.

    Congratulations!

No, there are no Royal Flush "bonuses" here. You could win an £8,900 "bonus" if you won the Sky Poker JACKPOT though.

A "Royal" is pretty unusual in Hold 'Em, but much less so in Omaha.

We see them a fair bit in 4 card Omaha, simply because we are, in effect, playing 6 hands each time. In 6 card Omaha, (only played Live, not Online) where we have, I think, the equivelant of 15 "two card" hands, they are quite common.

I was playing 6 Card High Omaha recently, & I flopped a royal, & tried to trap my opponent. He eventually folded QUADS to me, because he knew that a Royal was the only hand I could have, as played.

    Strange things, numbers, & probability.

    Morning Muttz.

No, not at all. There is a skill to playing succcesful 2p/4p, just as there is a skill to playing £2/£4. It's just a different skill.

I definitely disagree that 2p/4p is "pot luck". You have to adapt to the opponents you face, & to win at 2p/4p just requires that ability to adapt.

If you move up the levels, the game changes, & you require different skills if you want to beat the game, & as such, yes, you become a better player.

What you must avoid is falling for the oft-repeated cliche that "it is impossible to win at 2p/4p because the players there will call any raise". That is nonsense, & only in poker do players complain because they perceive their opponents to be bad!

It's like Sir Alex Ferguson saying he does not want to draw, say, Yeovil Town in the FA Cup "because they are hopeless", or throwing a hissy fit because Man Utd lost to Bradford or whoever & then saying "they were SO BAD we could not beat them". He would get laughed out of a job if he said that, & rightly so.

    Hi Rainman,

I communicate, via e-Mail, a great deal with Mike (woogie) who runs the Afternoon League, & I will most certainly pass your comments on to him. He does a fine job.

Mike has been quite unwell for some time now, & so I take this oppurtunity to wish him well, & a speedy recovery.

We are blessed here at Sky Poker to have quite a few lads who run Community Leagues & Competitions. With apologies to those I omit (memory issues here, sorry,) they include DTWBandit, scouse red, Hitman, PokerTrev, Darntootin & others, & I tip my hat to them for their endeavours, they are, without exception, decent folks just trying to do positive things.

Hope you continue to enjoy the Afternoon League.

    Hi Tikay

Was playing in pub last night in the Redtooh Leugue

1 player was away from the table (outside talking to his g/f). His stack was a mess - all over the place in a pile but not over the line
The dealer stacked them into piles. Then one of the lads m8,s who was watching said he (the dealer) wasn,t allowed to do that and knocked them over again, claiming if it was a casino he wouldn,t be allowed to do that. Even though someone coming from out of the game and knocking a chip stack over wouldn,t be allowed either

My thoughts on this were the dealer ( also the TD , but a young lad who didn,t want any trouble) was right to do so as there were higher denomonation chips such as chips for a 1000 buried under his 100chips

It caused abit of a row and i didn,t get involved as i,d forgotten about that rule showing the higher denominationb chips , which im sure ive heard from Sky TV

Am i right and was the guy out of order knocking the chip stack back over.

I,ve got a feeling i already know the answer to this but can you pls confirm this so i can tell him nxt week.

Ps - From original post do you think i,m taking the right path to be a better live player and to play bigger live events?

    Hope you are well

    Thx

    Mr. Kendall...

The Poker Clinic show has just ended and for another week it seems like there were too few hands to make up the hour. Is it now going to be the norm that the second half of the hour is going to be made up of Bounty Hunter hands? I think it's a shame as, back in the days when there were forum comments included, I thought it was probably the best show of the week. I've been sending some hands in myself because I don't want the show to go the way of chat box, but it seems like it's always the same few sending their hands in.

Any thoughts about how more people could be encouraged to send in their hands and questions?

    Very good point Borin.

I also thought the show where they displayed people's comments was great although I suspect the reason Sky stopped it is because a few people moaned about their long replies being shortened and misinterpreted, but this could be resolved by setting up a thread for live show replies. So replies are only read from this live show hand reply thread so you can post concisely and as you want it to be read out.

The other issue is there are only X amount of people who post hands in the clinic and very few of them play MEs regularly or are rolled to play mastercash tables. A fair few could play the 10NL ones but thats as low as most go. I think if they stuck a TV icon for the Forum DTD games AND made some 4NL, 8NL or even 5p/5p Mastecash tables, they would definitely get WAY more hands posted for the live show
  • edited November 2012
I may have been guilty of moaning about my comments being misinterpreted. I may have been the moaner-in-chief, in fact.

Still, it would be nice to get back to something like that.
