it's not very often i expect to be folding AKs but from the looks of this i can't even see him holding QQ or KK because i have seen how tight he normally is and when i consider how big our cash stacks were i got the feeling he saw this as a chance to get a mega win while i was chasing a flush straight or KK with AKs/o and a set with QQ and KK. i have to admit that i would have even folded KK and QQ here not once could i remember him reraising or jamming right away before this one and i even saw him just check call KK on a flop that had an A on it.
thing today went quite well but i did do a few bad mistake which cost me bigoverall i won £12.13 with 12 tables winning a total of £28.71 while i lost a total of £16.58 on 11 tables as for my hand history that went like this losses were £5.88 £5.63 and £5.30 £4.25 £2-£3 5 hands £1-£2 13 hands my winnings were £4.80 £4.66 £3-£4 4hands £2-£3 10 hands £1-£2 19 hands my worst ones were on the flop i thought he could be holding AK but when he does another bet on the turn i think i should just fold it now

as for the rest of the losses they were mainly down to bad luck including AKs loosing to AJ. AKo getting rivered when J9 called a flop AJ3 and hit his 9
Sorry, but your still in the same mentality and its not always bad luck.
Like that hand where you flopped a straight, imo bet too small on the flop is a little mistake, and not betting on the turn is a MASSIVE mistake.
Forget about your issues with thinking people will fold (so what) lets look at specifics
On that hand, you did this
Flop - holding the best possible hand - bet small turn - holding thr best possible hand - check river - holding the second best possible hand - ship it all in
furthermore lots of players will pay lots to chase draws or call down random pairs. All your doing by shipping the river is making it easy to fold when they missed (gain no value here), and letting them stack you when they hit a better hand.
just wtf??
I bet made hands like a nutter (pretty much turning them face up to anybody with one iota of common sense), and through not much volume am up £85odd this month so pretty good evidence that people dont fold. It is the best way to crush 4nl and you need to stop thinking otherwise.
I wish you the best, but will not bring up this point again. to be honest I am being generous repeating this for a second time.
And the 66 hand, at 4nl set mine/fold is just so much simpler. Fold the flop, you are put them one thin hand that you could beat, no need to get creative, possibly call a weak continutation bet, but fold after that if they show strength.
i really like the way ive played all the hands my name appears, fold fold fold fold lol. right enough of the jokes.
the 66 hand is a bit of a car crash, youve played to set mine but then fell in love with an low overpair. theres some instances you can call a c bet there and evaluate the turn in position to the original raiser but here they have potted the flop and you still have another player to act behind you. the pot bet here usually signals big pair. as played yiu need to ask yourself honestly why you min raised the turn, you are never getting called by worse here and you have turned your hand into a bluff. the ship should have told you you were behind and there was no need to stick the rest in.
i agree with calcalfolds post above, flop straight donk bet then check the turn, you got to keep firing there. its a bad run out and i do my conkers in the hand but in a completely different way to how you played it. you get most of the value from players on the flop and the turn when they still think theres a card that can make them their hand, on the river theres no more cards and if they cant make a strongish hand then they aint paying off bets.
"I bet made hands like a nutter (pretty much turning them face up to anybody with one iota of common sense)" take note of this statement, it rings so true.

I dont know craigs issues, so wont comment on that.
However this has to be the best post ive seen you post, never mind that, its probably one of the best ive seen on NL4 strategy for a long time.
what i am going to start doing is noting down which villian are aggressive and which are passive because that is what i am thinking causes all this. if a villian is aggressive then i know i can check the turn

but in them other hands where the villians are going to wait until they hit then make a bet i know i will have to do bets every street.
You've gone 4 way to the flop, and hit it a dream - you've got second nuts, only gut-shot draws out there and an Ace! Some-one has likely hit here and you've got them crushed. Making it 20p into an 84p pot is way too small. There are three of them! Make it 70p or something. Then it's easier to get the lot.
well if their is anything that can get me back on track i think it is the fold i did with this it might look easy to fold but he could have held a weak flush himself and TBH most strong flush hands would have only called but i wnt for a fold thinking upgear has did a call then reraised so i put him on the flush.
although i made a good fold with that flush draw overall saturday was a bad day with losses coming to a total of £45.48 compared to winnings totaling £27.76 over all my hand outcomes were these winnings- 5.28 £4-£5 4 hands £3.31 £3.25 £2.10x2 £1-£2 16 hands losses £5.24 £3-£4 3 hands £2-£3 9 hands £1-£2 10 hands my BR today is £124

Stop looking for excuses to check. 4NL is about making hands and then going bet bet bet.
If they are passive and we have a strong hand, we bet cos they wont' do it for us.
If they are aggressive and we have a strong hand, AGAIN we bet, if they really are aggressive and decide to raise us, all the better.
Something else to remember, if you have a strong hand (or indeed any hand) you should NEVER bet less than 50% of the pot at 4NL. Bare minimum 50% but I'd have my default bet size being roughly 75% of the pot. Obviously there are occasions to go even bigger or a tad smaller, but never smaller than 50%
my first year on sky poke has not been a good one i have allow myself to be wound up to easy from bad beats not been careful enough with my bankroll and have chased too many of my losses so 2013 will be a new year of poker for me where i will try and get myself into a winning style or atleast a sensible playing style. my aims from 2013 1. be careful with my hands. 2. take a break as soon as i get a bad beat 3.monitor my bankroll and HH better. 4. make notes of the way people play. 5.be more polite with my texts. lambert i myself can now see where you and calford were coming from with why i should be so aggressive c-bets just don't seem to be used in these and any card seem a scare card to make a bet with yet a weak enough card to call with

this hand was what has got me to change my mind the most because i have ended up wasting a very good hand thanks to the hope that another villian was going to bet.
with this hand although i was not happy at the time when i think about it i should be laughing my head off TBH because how he did not do a reraise on the flop or the turn i don't know so i saved myself more money than i lost.
Craig, NH when you had pocket 10s against my AK! I was saying in my diary, i would have done exactly the same as you with the stack you had.
Just stick at it Craig, and your bankroll will soon be on the up. You were doing really well, if you feel you are having a bad run, maybe take a break from the game and come back anew.
"when i think about it i should be laughing my head off TBH because how he did not do a reraise on the flop or the turn i don't know so i saved myself more money than i lost."
Well, I would not be raising A8 there either, your pre flop and flop actions are constant with a better ace (or I suppose TT). What worse hand is going to pay him off?....... none that I can think of.
Granted i dont really like the call with A8 pre, but post flop he played his hand more logically than you played yours.
Rather than laughing your head off, it would be better to go over this hand closely. What were your reasons for each action you made? Really apart from pre flop, I dont like any of it.
things seem to have been better today than they were at the week end and i seem to now be thinking more careful about my hands i did have a short period where i suffered heavy but overall i still got a porfit today of £6.05 which is better than nothing my hand history went like this the winnings were £3-£4 7 hands £2-£3 6 hands £1-£2 14 hands the losses were £6.73 £5.28 £4 £3.25 £3.23 £2.99 £1-£2 9 hands
as for this villian well i know not to bluff him from now on
what i did improve on today was paired boards here when i checked and got jammed on i just knew he couldn't have held a FHif he did he would be wasting value with a good hand
i might still not be perfect but now even my set aggression is improving with the turn i thought to myself the number of straights and flushes are heavy

with the set of 3 i just thought to myself he could reraise if he holds the 3rd seven
today was not my day for good luck, hands that were ahead seemed to not suvive much. overall i made a loss of 4.06 which might not sound much but could have been a lot worst. the loosing hand sizes today were £4.12 £4 £3.93 £3.20 £3.15 £2.14 £2.13 £2.09 £1-£2 10 hands as for my winning hands they were £6.30 £3-£4 4 hands £2.83 £2.37 £1-£2 15 hands
out of all the big losses the only ones that would be coming most days were 3.93 AKs v KK although i could have just call on this occasion. £2.14 1010v JJ on a 9high flop. as for the rest well they were bad luck 4.12 set v straight draw that called a jam with the draw £4 JJvs94o 3.2o KKvs36s and the 3.15 was AKo vs AJo i did atleast hit two awsome hands although the outs from then were very different
1st came a straight flush

when i saw the villian hold the A i was suprised he didn't atleast min raise and the only reason i can think is why he did that is with the board already filled with lots of high suited cards only the K would really make a bet. all i can ask myself is what would he have did if i checked the river or jammed right away. Anyway after that suprise i decided to take the hand below differant and jammed the river right away as i had probably hid my 3 of a kind on the flop and made it look like a FH 333KK so the chances are he would call a jam most times if he has a K.
I dont understand it, most of the time I see you seated you are up a few quid. Posted by calcalfold
i do...i'm having the same problem atm. i tend to usually get off to a bad start for some reason losing big hands v big hands then it settles down to something like normal, and then i usually win it back, showing a good profit on each table.
i also top up all the time as i like to lose the maximum whenever possible. lol it is surprising how the little 22p here and 18p there, etc all add up. so in my case anyway, can't speak for Craig obviously,it seems like a vicious circle.

i have to admit that i would have even folded KK and QQ here not once could i remember him reraising or jamming right away before this one and i even saw him just check call KK on a flop that had an A on it.
thing today went quite well but i did do a few bad mistake which cost me bigoverall i won £12.13 with 12 tables winning a total of £28.71 while i lost a total of £16.58 on 11 tables
as for my hand history that went like this
losses were
£5.88 £5.63 and £5.30
£4.25
£2-£3 5 hands
£1-£2 13 hands
my winnings were
£4.80 £4.66
£3-£4 4hands
£2-£3 10 hands
£1-£2 19 hands
my worst ones were
on the flop i thought he could be holding AK but when he does another bet on the turn i think i should just fold it now

i agree with calcalfolds post above, flop straight donk bet then check the turn, you got to keep firing there. its a bad run out and i do my conkers in the hand but in a completely different way to how you played it. you get most of the value from players on the flop and the turn when they still think theres a card that can make them their hand, on the river theres no more cards and if they cant make a strongish hand then they aint paying off bets.
"I bet made hands like a nutter (pretty much turning them face up to anybody with one iota of common sense)" take note of this statement, it rings so true.
if a villian is aggressive then i know i can check the turn
and bet flop bigger with 3 opponents. these silly small c bets and min raises are whats getting you inot a lot of the trouble you encounter
over all my hand outcomes were these
winnings-
5.28
£4-£5 4 hands
£3.31 £3.25
£2.10x2
£1-£2 16 hands
losses
£5.24
£3-£4 3 hands
£2-£3 9 hands
£1-£2 10 hands
my BR today is £124
If they are passive and we have a strong hand, we bet cos they wont' do it for us.
Obviously there are occasions to go even bigger or a tad smaller, but never smaller than 50%
Craig, NH when you had pocket 10s against my AK! I was saying in my diary, i would have done exactly the same as you with the stack you had.
Just stick at it Craig, and your bankroll will soon be on the up. You were doing really well, if you feel you are having a bad run, maybe take a break from the game and come back anew.
Good luck
Well, I would not be raising A8 there either, your pre flop and flop actions are constant with a better ace (or I suppose TT). What worse hand is going to pay him off?....... none that I can think of.
Granted i dont really like the call with A8 pre, but post flop he played his hand more logically than you played yours.
Rather than laughing your head off, it would be better to go over this hand closely. What were your reasons for each action you made? Really apart from pre flop, I dont like any of it.
things seem to have been better today than they were at the week end and i seem to now be thinking more careful about my hands i did have a short period where i suffered heavy but overall i still got a porfit today of £6.05 which is better than nothing
as for this villian well i know not to bluff him from now onmy hand history went like this
the winnings were
£3-£4 7 hands
£2-£3 6 hands
£1-£2 14 hands
the losses were
£6.73 £5.28 £4 £3.25 £3.23 £2.99
£1-£2 9 hands
what i did improve on today was paired boards
here when i checked and got jammed on i just knew he couldn't have held a FHif he did he would be wasting value with a good hand
i might still not be perfect but now even my set aggression is improving
with the turn i thought to myself the number of straights and flushes are heavy
today was not my day for good luck, hands that were ahead seemed to not suvive much. overall i made a loss of 4.06 which might not sound much but could have been a lot worst.
the loosing hand sizes today were
£4.12 £4
£3.93 £3.20 £3.15
£2.14 £2.13 £2.09
£1-£2 10 hands
as for my winning hands they were
£6.30
£3-£4 4 hands
£2.83 £2.37
£1-£2 15 hands
out of all the big losses the only ones that would be coming most days were 3.93 AKs v KK although i could have just call on this occasion. £2.14 1010v JJ on a 9high flop.
as for the rest well they were bad luck 4.12 set v straight draw that called a jam with the draw £4 JJvs94o 3.2o KKvs36s and the 3.15 was AKo vs AJo
i did atleast hit two awsome hands although the outs from then were very different
1st came a straight flush
i tend to usually get off to a bad start for some reason losing big hands v big hands then it settles down to something like normal, and then i usually win it back, showing a good profit on each table.
i also top up all the time as i like to lose the maximum whenever possible. lol
it is surprising how the little 22p here and 18p there, etc all add up. so in my case anyway, can't speak for Craig obviously,it seems like a vicious circle.
