maybe the problem was with that table being new i wouldn't know the villians so well it's easy to think your ahead and hands like the diamond flush and the 3 twos are very hard to spot the Kj109 i see myself i made the mistake as they so well connected and suited atleast i can fold some premium as i show when the KK got shove and here is another one

although he could have been bluffing i didn't want to risk it so i folded my aces.
my bankroll now is £220 i played on 2 nl4 3 action and 1 nl8 and i lost £3.63 on the nl8 39p on a nl4 and £1.51 on an action table but not every table was bad one action table got me £3.34 the third got me £7.61 and i won £4.03 on the second nl4 table today was my lucky day with hands as i only got 2 losses over £1 one which was £1.96 the other was 6.43 with this one

as for my winning hands well it mainly was between £1-£3 what i might do is i shall stop with the smaller £'s and just put down very big winning and loosing hands such as this one as this hand.
In Response to Re: craigcu12 diary : not wanting to be rude but it's as if you are saying that any pair even the premium pair is not worth much if i miss a set because that is what it sounds like and so Posted by craigcu12
Not what I am saying at all, Rancid got my point over much better than I did.
To put it another way, you should bet overpairs, no doubing that. BUT, and this is the key point, IF you get raised, you should pause and ask yourself "In this situation would an agrotard/nit/callingsation/reg (insert as appropriate) be raising with a worse hand than I have?"
If the answer leans towards a no, you need to seriously consider folding.
Comprendo?
With regards to the AA hand number 4, you are looking too much at the board which is what it is, and not enough at the information that the villian is giving you. Is it likely he is 4betting all in with top pair?

that AA is not much different to the KK you saying if he raises then he must hold the strongest which is theirfore three twos or a FH so can't the same be said about the AA facing a shove on a board which was paired why else would he shove if it wasn't for the 3rd 7 and as for that flush hand well that one was just too hard to spot he could so easily have held two pair which include an A the only hand for sure out of the first 3 i should be folding is QQ on that KJ109 board but the set of queens is never folding nor the KK as 2 is too hard to put him on he could hold 109 or A10. as for the AA well my thought was he was trapping me as racid said why would he bluff that hand on the river when it is so well connected.
well after the way things went this hour i am beginning to think that on the button almost any hand is worth calling as long as the table consists of tight passive villians because this hour i have been stealing so many pots with absolute rubbish at first i was playing as standard and raising good hands folding raggy and low hands but nearly every flop the villians were just folding so from their i change my tactics totally and started being a bully or shark. the evidence was in hands such as this if this villian calls the flop then why is he folding the turn should he not just fold the flop?

this sort of thing is making me start to see things now more and more clearer and basically if they do a bet on the turn then they have got a better hand than me most times and any reraise or shove they make will mean they have atleast two pair if not a set also i feel the river i might as well check if i'm in position if i am first then i shall do a small value bet. the big fact i see is it is getting so hard to get the callers so i sometimes turn into a shark or bully on the table. as for my bankroll it is now £209.50
well i had a fairly good session this evening and managed to gain quite a bit i lost £6.33 on an action table and 34p on a nl4 but on 5 other tables i made up for that loss with £2.10, £1.36 and 86p on 3 nl4p on a nl8p i made 12.67 and on a nl10p i made £5.85 so my bankroll now is 225.67 hands such as this one make me wonder if some villians would rather wait until the are very unlikely to be behind before they shove. why else would this villian just call the flop and turn then shove the river.
things didn't go well for me in the tournaments i went in today so my bankroll went down again and at one stage my final cash session looked bad. but then this happened

at first sight this looked so scary and i thought that i was going to loose to a Q9s or even QJ and almost folded my own FH but then i thought to myself i already hold2 js so QJ is unlikely as for Q9 well i thought if it's Q9 it's Q9 and plus i thought that by now he would be holding a straight and was trapping me the way he just called the flop and turn. but i won it and now my bankroll is £202
Hi Craig, been following your journey, and am impressed with your spirit determination enthusiasm and bottle,to name just a few. i always enjoy coming to your diary each day or night as is often the case as like myself you always post after a session, both good or bad. i'm sure it's only a matter of time before your b/roll takes a massive leap forward, either through a nice tournament bink or from grinding it out playing cash.then i'm also sure with a nice 'roll behind you to play with, you will be even more creative and possibly be tempted to dabble at even higher levels, and who knows where that will lead to. anyway, just wanted to wish you good luck Craig.keep up the entertainment. lol (* *) ^ dev
after having a break on thursday and being out most of today my return in the evening was a balanced one i won £9.98 on an action table £4.05 on a nl10 and £2.53 on a nl4 on 3 other nl4p i lost £4 £4 and £1.17. one of the tables give me a really big shock with one hand when i saw what the villians held. what i was thinking was villian A could be holding 89 while villian b is chasing the flush but what i didn't expect was 95 and jj
friday nights i will need to be a lot more careful as their are just too many maniacs and calling stations rather thanvillians who will fold almost any flop things like suited connectors are even harder to play as are low pairs and even the AK because if you miss them it is a big risk to c bet as for me myself well i might be safest being a nit because so many times i've lost dear here are some of my worst hands i) two villians are in love with a suited card and so it feels too hard to spot the 5

so my bankroll now is £170. atleast i can take 1 positive from this, i can now try to shut up the moan i get from others who are with me. yesterday they thought because i had £200 i should withdraw some but no way do i want to withdraw any of it because if i did it would only take 1 bad run and i am back to square 1 meaning i would end up needing to deposit money each week after 2.5 months without a depositing a penny.
after a break on thursday a bad night friday and a bug which kept me away on saturday things might be changing again for me today, my afternoon went well as i managed to gain £8.89 on nl8p and 67p, £1.95, £3.46 on nl4p i lost 74p on an action table and 1.87 on a nl4 my bankroll now is £191.66 one hand i feel really lucky with is this i was ready to reload my chipstack already when i saw the K on the flop

the trouble it give me today was that i suffered a big loss of 8.34 which due to the amount of passive villians their were on tables i therefore could not recover it as i already suffered a few £1 losses before that which i was only just recovering by being the bully. here was my big loss
this afternoon has been a much more enjoyable time to play than what i get during the night. at night all i seem to do is bet large preflop then steal it on the flop yet during afternoons i have to be much more cautious as the tables have a lot more varity of play rather than just the loose passive villians i see in the evening the tables i played on were 1 action table and 5 nl4 i did swap around during my time. i got winnings of +£2.05, +£6.95, +£4.43 and +£2.93 the losses were -£1.92, -£7.90 -£1.14,-85p and -£2.22 overall i won 2.33 as for my hands well differance in the number of £1+ winning now to when i was on last night says it all £7.22 £4.18 £2.92 £2.02 £1-£2 3 hands losses £5.81 £2.61 £1-£2 4 hands my bankroll now is 182.08
had a bad period at 6:30 and lost quite a lot can't remember the total i had a break at 9pm and returned at 10:30 which went better this evening i played 3 action tables and 5 nl4 multi tabling 6 at a time overall i won £2.08 £6.22 and lost 45p on the action tables the nl4p got £3.41 but losses of 22p £5.36 2.29 and 35p overall i won 3.04 my bankroll is £178 the hands were £6.07 £3.79 £2.58 £2 £1-£2 7 hands the losses £3.57 £2.20 £1-£2 3 hands the two big ones were thanks to me having a maniac on the table at the time who i think was on tilt
after some bad luck in tournaments where although i shoved on the bubble i just managed to avoid going out until after the bubble so won £6 in a £750BH i went on a cash session and all i can say about that is boy were the tables filled with maniacs tonight the way they went i got +£5.81, -£1.15 +£12.93 +18p, +£20.98 -£4.20 -48p +94p and-£4.23 so overall i gained 30.69 the big winnings and losses with my hands were £10.36 £5.45 £4 £3-£4 5 hands £2-£3 2 hands as for losses well they were £6.31 £4.25 £3-£4 3 hands £2.52 my bankroll is now £205.50 these two hands show better than them all as to just how maniac the tables were tonight

in 1 and 1/2 hours of play things haven't changed much i lost £5 my hands were losses of 4.06 £2.70 £2.18 £1-£2 4 hands the wins were £4.66 £3.21 £2-£3 2 hands £1-£2 4 hands
another after what has been another day of play my bankroll has finished on £186 as for tournaments well i will attempt to not bother playing until the ukops are starting where i might join the minis. with cash it is much easier to know when to call and when to fold and i don't find it so hard to be concerned about my chips as i can easily top up again. of course sometimes i need much more luck too with tournaments.
one thing i do wonder is weather i should be having a break between my tournament play and cash games and it comes after the way i treated these hands both were JJ hand one when i reraised the guy after shoved and the origional villian called so what i thought was does he have a premium pair or Ax should i call or fold but i decided to fold and well i did the right thing but probably should have called and knowing he only calls with QQ he might have folded after the K was out on the turn

tournaments are much more varied with hands than even the micro stakes also the aggression is much bigger
today was not my day as i lost really heavy overall my total losses come to over £50 and my bankroll is £150 nearly everytime i was calling or making shoves i ended up going behind even when the villian had the smallest of outcomes

in this hand i should have known that it was a straight he would hold why else would he call a min bet then donk when i have check raised
where have you been losing at? is it nl10? is it tourneys?
i ask because you posted in the nl4 challenge thread that you won at nl4 over the week. i remember reading that you were around the £300 mark at one point. i think you may be at a critical point with your bankroll. it would be too easy to tilt buyin to games hoping for a score to recover some of the losses, even if its a few 5er games it soon goes and before you know it your below the ton mark.
it might be worthwhile to take a step back and get back to basics. stick to just nl4 build some of it back up, regain some confidence, which i think your lacking atm and go from there.

hi craig, you've got the game and you've got the heart, that's for sure. tintin's right, maybe take a step back, play a couple of tables less, and get that b/roll moving forwards again mate. i know you can do it.just keep your focus, and plan ahead for the long term, that's where the real money is. b/roll management is very important mate, and as long as you can play well within it,then you'll be fine. gl

If you are raised espcially on turn then re evalute your hand.......
What is oppo raising with ?
Put oppo on a range and act accordingly be it fold, call or raise.
Just saying "I have an overpair" doesn't mean you should stack to a raise
In general if oppo has tendacies to raise and stack with top pr then you do not have a problem
good luck
maybe the problem was with that table being new i wouldn't know the villians so well it's easy to think your ahead and hands like the diamond flush and the 3 twos are very hard to spot the Kj109 i see myself i made the mistake as they so well connected and suited atleast i can fold some premium as i show when the KK got shove and here is another one
oppo is never bluffing unless oppo decides to call 2 streets with FD and bluff river -
you would need specific reads to call here
i played on 2 nl4 3 action and 1 nl8 and i lost £3.63 on the nl8 39p on a nl4 and £1.51 on an action table but not every table was bad one action table got me £3.34 the third got me £7.61 and i won £4.03 on the second nl4 table
today was my lucky day with hands as i only got 2 losses over £1 one which was £1.96 the other was 6.43 with this one
what i might do is i shall stop with the smaller £'s and just put down very big winning and loosing hands such as this one as this hand.
Is it likely he is 4betting all in with top pair?
as for the AA well my thought was he was trapping me as racid said why would he bluff that hand on the river when it is so well connected.
With that comment I was referring to the one where he 4bet all in 67 2pr
my bankroll now is £202 i managed to win 4.95 on a nl10 and 4.38 on a nl4 but lost £15 on a nl10 £3.57 on a nl8 and £4.23 on action tables
well after the way things went this hour i am beginning to think that on the button almost any hand is worth calling as long as the table consists of tight passive villians because this hour i have been stealing so many pots with absolute rubbish at first i was playing as standard and raising good hands folding raggy and low hands but nearly every flop the villians were just folding so from their i change my tactics totally and started being a bully or shark.
the evidence was in hands such as this
if this villian calls the flop then why is he folding the turn should he not just fold the flop?
the big fact i see is it is getting so hard to get the callers so i sometimes turn into a shark or bully on the table.
as for my bankroll it is now £209.50
hands such as this one make me wonder if some villians would rather wait until the are very unlikely to be behind before they shove.
why else would this villian just call the flop and turn then shove the river.
things didn't go well for me in the tournaments i went in today so my bankroll went down again and at one stage my final cash session looked bad. but then this happened
but i won it and now my bankroll is £202
been following your journey, and am impressed with your spirit determination enthusiasm and bottle,to name just a few.
i always enjoy coming to your diary each day or night as is often the case as like myself you always post after a session, both good or bad.
i'm sure it's only a matter of time before your b/roll takes a massive leap forward, either through a nice tournament bink or from grinding it out playing cash.then i'm also sure with a nice 'roll behind you to play with, you will be even more creative and possibly be tempted to dabble at even higher levels, and who knows where that will lead to.
anyway, just wanted to wish you good luck Craig.keep up the entertainment. lol

after having a break on thursday and being out most of today my return in the evening was a balanced one i won £9.98 on an action table £4.05 on a nl10 and £2.53 on a nl4 on 3 other nl4p i lost £4 £4 and £1.17.
one of the tables give me a really big shock with one hand when i saw what the villians held.
what i was thinking was villian A could be holding 89 while villian b is chasing the flush but what i didn't expect was 95 and jj
as for me myself well i might be safest being a nit because so many times i've lost dear
here are some of my worst hands
i) two villians are in love with a suited card and so it feels too hard to spot the 5
atleast i can take 1 positive from this, i can now try to shut up the moan i get from others who are with me.
yesterday they thought because i had £200 i should withdraw some but no way do i want to withdraw any of it because if i did it would only take 1 bad run and i am back to square 1 meaning i would end up needing to deposit money each week after 2.5 months without a depositing a penny.
one hand i feel really lucky with is this
i was ready to reload my chipstack already when i saw the K on the flop
the big hands made me
£6.50
£3.74 £3.53
£2-£3 3 hands
£1-£2 3 hands
losses were
£2-£3 4 hands
£1-£2 3 hands
tonight fealt like another of them boring nights where action is very low and so again i was stealing pots left right and centre
here was my big loss
this afternoon has been a much more enjoyable time to play than what i get during the night. at night all i seem to do is bet large preflop then steal it on the flop yet during afternoons i have to be much more cautious as the tables have a lot more varity of play rather than just the loose passive villians i see in the evening
the tables i played on were 1 action table and 5 nl4 i did swap around during my time.
i got winnings of +£2.05, +£6.95, +£4.43 and +£2.93
the losses were -£1.92, -£7.90 -£1.14,-85p and -£2.22
overall i won 2.33
as for my hands well differance in the number of £1+ winning now to when i was on last night says it all
£7.22
£4.18
£2.92
£2.02
£1-£2 3 hands
losses
£5.81
£2.61
£1-£2 4 hands
my bankroll now is 182.08
i had a break at 9pm and returned at 10:30 which went better this evening i played 3 action tables and 5 nl4 multi tabling 6 at a time overall i won £2.08 £6.22 and lost 45p on the action tables
the nl4p got £3.41 but losses of 22p £5.36 2.29 and 35p
overall i won 3.04 my bankroll is £178
the hands were
£6.07
£3.79
£2.58 £2
£1-£2 7 hands
the losses
£3.57
£2.20
£1-£2 3 hands
the two big ones were thanks to me having a maniac on the table at the time who i think was on tilt
i went on a cash session and all i can say about that is boy were the tables filled with maniacs tonight
the way they went i got +£5.81, -£1.15 +£12.93 +18p, +£20.98 -£4.20 -48p +94p and-£4.23 so overall i gained 30.69
the big winnings and losses with my hands were
£10.36
£5.45
£4
£3-£4 5 hands
£2-£3 2 hands
as for losses
well they were
£6.31
£4.25
£3-£4 3 hands
£2.52
my bankroll is now £205.50
these two hands show better than them all as to just how maniac the tables were tonight
in 1 and 1/2 hours of play things haven't changed much i lost £5
my hands were
losses of
4.06
£2.70
£2.18
£1-£2 4 hands
the wins were
£4.66
£3.21
£2-£3 2 hands
£1-£2 4 hands
of course sometimes i need much more luck too with tournaments.
one thing i do wonder is weather i should be having a break between my tournament play and cash games and it comes after the way i treated these hands
both were JJ
hand one

nearly everytime i was calling or making shoves i ended up going behind even when the villian had the smallest of outcomes
well today has not been such a lucky day for me and overall i have lost £14 and my BR is now £137

Are you playing up levels still? Or just staying at 2p 4p?
you've got the game and you've got the heart, that's for sure.
