In Response to Re: OFFICIAL TOTAL PLAYER THREAD:
Hi Everyone, I have been advised that one player under the age of 21 contacted us early this morning to enquire about what would happen if they won the 1st prize, given that they would not be able to participate in Las Vegas. As you  have all been debating today this is a grey-ish area in the terms and conditions which needs clarifying, however, we are not going to rush into a decision on how this will/would be handled this afternoon. The player who raised the query is being contacted directly and we will make both them and everyone else aware of our position in the next 48 hours.   I can assure you now that our single aim in making a decision is to be as fair and just as possible to all affected parties. So thank you all for raising your concerns on behalf of the Under 21's, this matter is being dealt with. Regards Adam

In Response to Re: OFFICIAL TOTAL PLAYER THREAD :   ........and the low stakes players and everyone else who is missing out on the FREE PROMOTION.  Last night they showed 10 selected players and it was only from the last 4 players that any hand where the 'virtual nuts' was not flopped was shown.  I had to select 5 hands and give reasons for why I have chosen them and then send them in.  I spent an awful long time selecting these as I believe that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I really want the chance. If I'm not tending to my family or my job, I spend an awful long time on poker - reading, watching and trying to improve.  Nothing has ever been given to me and I've had to work hard to get better at poker. I am now a competent player who is still improving and now has the chance to move up to the next level (and hopefully beyond) with the guidance of David. I'm now finding it very annoying that the success of myself and others - fruition after months and years of hard work - is being soured by 1 player who has decided to spend an entire day bemoaning the whole promotion, site, players chosen and mentors for choosing them.   I thank everyone for their extremely kind comments, Sky for this wonderful opportunity and hope to show myself well over the coming months and good luck to all those who have the opportunity over the upcoming weeks.

    Hi Phil,
im not sure if David has a scerew loose in choosing you m8, but the transformation from a fish into a shark will be very interesting to watch, in your case, lolololool.
Seriously well done m8, in my eyes you are a prefect candidate for this event good luck my friend

"FREE PROMOTION."----LOL THESE ARE THE RULES 1. EVERYONE GIVES US LOADS OF CASH 2. WE GIVE ONE OF THEM A LITTLE BIT BACK
    Posted by oynutter
The winning player will not only recieve the title of the "Total Player" and basicly being crowned the best player on the site, but free entry into a £100 trny, and £1,000 trny and a chance of a lifetime to go to the world championships with all flights and expenses paid.

I wouldn't call that a little bit back.

No-one is being asked to "give cash".
It has been stated several times that players should just stick to their normal game.
If anyone decides to play more (or higher stakes) they do so knowing fully well the implications.
Since no-one has to pay an entry fee, it is a free promotion.

It is an added bonus for the players on this site that wish to participate.
I'm sure that SkyPoker do expect to benefit from more players playing more poker on the site during the course of this promotion; that makes no difference at all to the fact that this is a wonderful opportunity for all players on this site that wish (and are able) to participate.

As has been stated before, it's a bit like the FA Cup - every entered team has a chance to win but it's more likely to be won by a "big" team.

The selected players are clearly all good choices and are deserving of support from everyone on this site.

    Wow what is your problem?

Everyone knows that no one gives away for free, they are a buisness, but they could of just not done this 'total player' and carried on with they everyday life, but they done it too make interesting to get people involved, I really doubt i would make it into the top 50 but i still find it a good and interesting program watch and its good to find out what they thought about their own plays, and the players that have been picked are all very decent

People are moaning left right and centre, just take a chill pill or sumin, they done it as a good gesture not to have people moaning all the time....

    1. Daily Freerolls
    2. TKO event, 5x £500 prize pools + £1k freeroll = 3.5k
    3. Cash for point promotions, i know some players on this site get 1,000's in return for their loyalty.
    4. They are paying for the seat into the world series.
    5. They are paying for the flights an accomodation

    Shall I continue?....

ok i thought i was been most helpful today,

    james hartigan and myself had,

a very civil debate on the age rule in total player,

sky adam said thank you for highlighting the problem,

and that they are trying to sort this problem,

cant see any moaning in this.

a positive debate and a positive outcome.

whats the problem with that ?

    So whats the problem?

Im just showing you they do give alot back as well as make money. They are not greedy, they didn't need to do this or viva las vegas or any promotion. They like to give back to the players while making money!

Congratulations to the 3 guys picked last night.  I Hope 1 of you go on to win.  Both my sons have had a go at me about mentioning the knitting (but women do like to do at least 2 things at once !!!!) and although I might be a nan to my lovely grandchildren, I'm not an old fuddy duddy grandma.   Good luck to you all

TP is a great idea, it has generated more interest in the forum and will give some of our players the chance of a lifetime.

At the end of the day this is a promotion by Sky that we are all free to enter or free to avoid.

I think whatever way a mentor choses their will be controversy.

Personally whomever wins and goes to the WSOP I will give my full support.

    Dave

I know its easy for me to say having been lucky enough to have been selected but its not only about financial giveaways like freerolls etc. I have played on numerous other sites and sky is unique. As well as the things you mention how many others offer ...

A forum where everyone is free to express their views, which are listened to. Some of our ideas have been heard and acted upon.

People at sky to answer questions any time.Somebody is there today on a sunday afternoon to respond to issues like the age question.Other sites have a helpline where if you are lucky you will connect to a young girl in some distant city who has never played poker!

Regular well organised live events on SPUKT. Anybody who hasnt got to one yet should try to make it.

Last years Viva Las Vegas was great and  allowed some deserving players a unique experience, even if I failed at the final hurdle twice.

Play the presenter.... poker league...some great blogs....

As FLASH FLUSH rightly says the list just goes on. Personally I appreciate it all, even if the free Tshirt I was sent last year shrunk to midget size 1st time I washed it !

Obviously Sky is a business and all initiatives have to increase business, but to me the way Sky are doing it should be increasing community spirit, and like Phil and Mere Novice I find this negativity dissapointing.

Whoever does make it to the end of this Total Player promotion will be representing the whole Sky Poker community, if its not me, he or she will have my full support.

    Tony

I was simply pointing out that no-one should change the games they play in, or alter their bankroll management in any way, just to have a chance of winning this thing---they can get to vegas for one pound---and they wont have to give anyone 10% of their winnings either

Thank you very much to everyone who has passed on their best wishes after last night's show.

I am not an 'insider' to the SkyPoker community at present, therefore it is a very pleasant surprise to get kind comments from people who know me, and people who I have never met.

I will certainly be giving this my best shot.
I recognise that I have some clear leaks in my game at present, but this is a fantastic opportunity to work some of these out.

A big congratulations, and best wishes, to all of the other people already chosen, and good luck to everyone else who is hopeful of getting involved.

With regards to some of the  'controversy' that this initiative has caused.

I have played on Skypoker virtually from the start, and consistently since.
I stay because the games are good (not nearly as soft as they were though), but also because Sky is a brand that I know I can trust.
I understand clearly, that everything they do is, ultimately, for profit.
But they have a reputation to uphold, and, from my perspective, appear to be  in this for the long run.

They have also contributed a lot to poker in the Uk - Poker on TV, accesibility to people who did not play before (no download, through TV), SkyPoker tour, Vegas promotions etc.....

This has introduced a lot of players at 'entry level' - low buy in tourneys, and small stakes cash.
These players are starting to filter up to higher levels - over the last few weeks I have seen SkyPoker hoodies and card protectors at £300 / £1k buy-in live tourneys.

This doesn't mean that they always get it right - they don't, and noone does.
But they are prepared to try different stuff, and give back to the players - invest in the future if you like.

So by all means make your comments, and express your dissatisfaction - but keep it in perspective.

Lecture over - off my chest now.
    Good luck all.

    Hi Jakally,
Firstly, let me say good luck for the TP and thank you for letting me know why we should appreciate this site.
I too have been on the site from the beginning and feel that i have a right to my opinions.
I have been a staunch supporter of this site, but if i see something that i question, i will in the knowledge that Sky will give me honest feedback and that there will be a number of people who will jump to the defence of the site regardless.
Today my self and another forum member questioned the age issue and it has helped 1 other site member to get an answer to something that WAS NOT clear(but in no way trying to deceive anyone).

    rant over lol

    Col,

Thank you for your good wishes.
I think it is very healthy that you, and many others, express their opinions etc...

The age issue certainly needs some clarity, and hopefullly, by you raising the point, SP will sort it out.

But I have seen comments such as 'this promotion stinks' and others similar.

These are not very constructive, and the reason for my little rant.
Apologies, to you, or anyone else who has made constructive criticisms, if you thought that this was directed towards you.

Hi all fellow poker peeps, I think Jakally is spot on with his comments, myself and jakally have been on the site from week one and why do we stay with sky ? we know they are committed to the future of poker in the uk and continue to improve the site and always look into problems the site may have and work on them. With regards to the total player, they have done this for the poker players who they see fit for the 20k package, im sure they are not taking this lightly and will get it right.....
