sess 19 (2hrs x 6) +8.01 Bankroll: £403.91 The (second) comeback is on. Played a quick session to get back into things. I made one horrendous call for my stack with AK on AdTd3s flop with 2 players already all in - one had a set and that cost me about 60bb. Other than that I called a river donkbet with TP vs a slowplayed set/quads for around 17bb when with hindsight I had no reason to believe the oppo was bluffing. Posted by jimb0d1
Have been following your posts with interest Jim, and fair to say quite of lot of personal painful recollection!
Well played on pulling your deficit into a reasonable looking profit, but feeling your pain over the last few sessions.
You seem like a bright and articulate chap, so I think it's a case of 'you know what you should be doing' and understand the game well, but can't put the fundamentals into practice in exam conditions (e.g not tilting, chasing draws, 3 betting out of position). I know this only too well and you only have to look at my overall bankroll challenge so far this year to see I haven't even properly structured it yet! I'm playing the main events trying to land that big cash, instead of grinding it out on DYMs or cash tables at very small levels. #epicfail
Basically, I know what I SHOULD be doing. But I can't do it for some reason.
Maybe I need to lose a few more sessions to really accept that I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board and get on those 2p/4p tables and £5 SNGs.
Fingers crossed for you though Jim, you've shown you can turn it around before, so if you keep your BR discipline I'm sure you will aagain.
Right... my last update was a loooong time ago. But dont fret! Ive kept a record of my ME and Mini shenanigans. We left my BR on £890 on the 18th. Since then I have played 8 main and Mini events... including two rollers. However having sat into one roller for £3.... then a week later satting into the roller for £11 AND winning an all in sat AND winning bubble money on an all in sat my BR hasnt been demolished in the slightest! In fact, due to one or two min cashes/bounties in the Bounty Hunters my ME and Mini BR lies on £909. Still no deep runs to report though. I havent played an MTT in almost a week but i shall be playing tonight so heres hoping i can return with a decent score! Posted by gazza127
OK, best of luck Gazza. You've reminded me to try satellite in to the main! Thanks!

PS- I'll leave you with my exit hand- when I was around 8th/16 in the mini. The table generally agreed it was an unlucky way to go. See if you agree...
I played the main and mini and was going deep in both. I had cashed in the main and was doing well... and then my KK lost to 77 all in pre and I crashed out soon after. Despite cashing for £50 I actually lost £40 on the tournament - I maaayyyyyy have gone rebuy happy when things werent going my way.
Nevermind though. I was still in the mini. I managed to final table but then lost a big pot with a big draw... and went out soon after with this hand:

Just ribbing Rich,
maybe it was me going off on a sulk because i cannot play the next few wednesdays so will have to foregoe the pleasure of meeting you on the tables. and i was looking forward to some petty cash!

both you and rich got busted of same guy.. did he win?
Cheers for the kind words Rich. Yes, I know the standard play in most spots.....but pressing call is ssso00oooo easy, especially when I can reload. I remember Sam Grafton said in the 'Reloaded' show that he cant respect money in the same way he does MTT chips and that definately rings home with me.
Also, Simon Hemsworth actually used the phrase 'fight fire with fire' which I used myself in a post above to display my attitude to playback vs aggro players. In my usual games (low stakes mtt/stt) this approach can work, but the missteps in cash can get expensive!
Played a little loose and lost two big pots with suited connectors OOP.... once with an OESD+FD on the turn and then hitting a straight and opponent also hitting the higher straight. According to traditional poker strategy I should not have been in the hands pre vs 1 opponent but I knew they had premium overpairs (AA & TT as it turns out) and I would get paid if I hit. Still, perhaps I should scratch these high variance plays at the moment......
I also managed to get KK in pre vs AT for a full stack and lose. No joy in the sats for ME tonight either and I am going to cut those out until get winning again, although I still have a bit of extra money on the site for mtt/stt entries.
If I drop below £300 in this challenge I will drop to the 8p tables but hopefully it wont come to that!
In Response to Re: Build A Bankroll 2014: next session WEDNESDAY 12TH FEB 8pm- midnight : Hmmm, does limping in UTG with a marginal hand or making up in the SB with 7-4 offsuit and then smashing the flop both times...count as trapping? Yours, not bitterly, Rich ;-) Posted by RICHORFORD
Yeahhhhh totally agree Richard.
Harry is just jealous he couldnt run as deep as us.

Good solid session. I only lost one hand over £5 with AK vs a set of aces on a low board. Otherwise, I managed to river my straight with 45s and bust a set of 3's but mostly I stuck to big hands in big pots.
Will be back after lunchtime....aiming to end the day at least 5 buy-ins up.
Session 24 (1 hrs x 6tabs) -£7.77 bankroll = £432.07 Lost a bit mucking about. Might be on later for another push towards breakeven at £500. Points rewards building steadily.
