Keep it going Jim. 34 sessions but 'only' 20% down on the bankroll is not a total disaster. And presumably you're learning from your mistakes and improving all the time.

I expect a profit to be turned within the next 10 sessions. :-)

I'm playing tonight once more- having a crack at the main and the mini. I know, I know, I should probably be trying to build on the cash tables but I'm trying to cash in one of the MTTs to kickstart my cash table push.

With regards to that main/mini cash, I refer the Right Honourable Gentlemen to one of my favourite Mills & Boon novels...

Unfortunately Rich, it seems I am not improving - another loss. Time for a football break and perhaps return later. At the moment, it looks pretty gloomy but I have racked up a fair few points this month and still plenty of time to turn it around.

Keep your chin up. If you were going for a football break, I hope you're not a Man City fan! That's not going to improve your mood.

I'll stick you in the Turbo Open next week though as a sweetener and for your continuing contribution to the thread.

    Good session this week.

    Finished 168th/510 in the mini.

And in the main out of 503 runners... So, not bad.

RicOrford has finished 26th and wins £31.69

Profit in the MTTs. Now currently throwing it all away on Mastercash table 9- 25p/50p!

Yuck! That went very, very wrong.

Giddy with success from my main event cash I did that stupid thing- you know, the one you've all done from time to time. I stuck my bankroll of approx £80 on one table.

Minutes later I was up to £140 and loving life. On course to recoup everything since the challenge started (i.e £200).

Couples of hours later and not only had I lost that £140 but had pulled up another £100. And lost that too.

So, my bankroll challenge now sees me £300 down for the year. And I can only blame myself. Playing at the wrong levels on cash and exercising no BRM whatsover.

Back to the drawing board next week. I have some decisions to make. if I reload for another £100, do I continue to take shots at the main and mini events which I always have a reasonable chance of cashing in? Or do I start at the very bottom on the cash tables at 2p/4p and grind like I've never grinded before.

Or- do I start a DYM crusade?

    Something's gotta give. Any thoughts?

Cheers to all who chatted and played with me tonight. Appreciate your company and wellwishes.

    See you next Wednesday!

Made a promise to myself in this session to do everything by the book and ran quite well. Towards the end of the session I was getting tired and made a bad call with A5 on AJ5KA when my opponent shoved the river with AK.

I have posted a hand in the clinic vs Larson7 where he reraised me on the river and I didnt have a clue what to do. Otherwise, apart from the stupid call mentioned earlier this session was very solid and I was happy with my play and the profit.

Small cash in the mini, and I cashed in my last free seat from Mr Orford so hopefully get a little bonus next tuesday as well. Thanks.

With £100 I would play £5.50 Mtts/regular and HU sngs.

Maybe stick on £200 and try 4p/8p sensibly?    :)

First of all mate i would change the title of the thread to "How to lose your bankroll x 3" lol

At least your showing all the guys n gals what happens if you do exercise no BR management so your efforts havnt totally gone to waste :)

As for future sessions you could just continue with the same gungho approach and change your alias to Ric"bluescouse"Orford

If youve never heard of "Bluescouse" mate you should google him because your BR management is def along the same lines as his :)

I would say start again next week playing the 10nl MC tables and play the odd mtt out of any winnings you might have along the way and remember that the main and mini are not the only mtts on here and there are £5.50 buyin deepstacks starting at about 8-8.30 on most nights with a first place prize of around the £150 mark and as you are a previous winner of the 2.20 at 2.20 these could be right up your street.

    Best of luck

Up into a decent profit so far this month. (well, some profit at least!)

Made one dubious call on the turn in a 3b pot when opponent shoved over my raise and the turn and I called off tptk vs his set. Apart from that I played my best boring TAG poker and only had one big pot with Sc's where I always had the odds to draw to my flush.

I have racked up 3k poker points to qualify for the trilogy freerolls and so have a decent cash reward to look forward to next month. 5k points seems a long way away as I only have 3 or 4 days left where I can play any decent length sessions so I will forget about hitting that target and concentrate on staying in profit for the month.

As a longterm target, I have a friend getting married in Australia Aug 2015 and I would like to pay for trip through poker winnings. If I manage a big MTT bink in the next few months another friend is going to Vegas in May for their 30th but at the moment I will have to miss out.

Not updated for a few days but as i,m hoping to play a few more tonight and over the weekend i,ll hopefully build up some more games.
I,m still going to try and get to 1k points without losing any money although it might take a little longer than i first thought, due to other things popping up.
1k in pts worth of DYM,s should also be enough of a sample size to see if i can play them profitably for the future, but if end up losing i can knock them on the head as i,ll know i,m not good enough (or try to inprove and try again as i do think i,ve improved the more i play them )

been on a bit of a run over the last 8-10 games as before that i was about level in wins - losses

    Results so far

More profit, should have been more but unlucky vs a bizarre 8x pot overshove that was QQ vs my JJ on low board.

Nice bit of table chat tonight and enjoyed it. Hoping that Tikay wins the Omaha and Sky contingent remain in UKPC. Im jealous.

Watching the boxing as well as playing 6 tables. Absolutely delighted for Curtis Woodhouse who won the British title after giving up football to pursue his personal sporting dream. Curtis posts on the forum at boxrec.com and is a throwback fighter who gives everything, despite being inexperienced in the sport.

In the poker I gave a few blackeyes, cracking KK 3 times and getting paid the maximum. Unfortunately I also spewed 3 buyins after a very loose flop call in 4 way 3b pot saw me spike tp and a gs draw.....

I then managed to turn a set vs a lower set - only for my opponent to river quads. Bah!

Last day at work for a week tomorrow and hoping to hammer the poker tues, weds, thursday and get up to my starting cash challenge balance of £500. My MTT game is non-existant at the moment as I am completely consumed by cash poker......cant stand being a losing player! Played the mini tonight and my overpair lost to a sd+oc in the 1st hand I played.

YAY! I am a winning cash player (this year net, and def lifetime with c4p).

Slapped the tables around in the early afternoon and made some good money, including one monster pot which I won with A8o 3 way due to good notes on the opponents on an 8 high board. I started to bet the river for thin value vs the right opponents, I made intelligent semibluffs, and made big calls when my instincts told me to. I was really in the zone and enjoying myself.

Late in the session I totally misread the board and stacked off vs Donttelmum with 2nd pair when I was absolutely sure I held TPTK (AJ vs AQ on JQxxx)..... for some reason I didnt see the higher card on the flop until showdown. That was my cue to leave the tables for a break and review my results.

I followed the UKPC updates on the forum and delighted for Tikay, Thewy and Lambert - 3 of the good guys! I have only played live poker at the casino once. I cashed in 8th in a 100+ runner field at Aspers in Newcastle and intend to try again sometime this year. I find live poker quite intimidating as I cant shuffle or deal cards and I got a few mucky looks last time I played and declined my turn at dealing in the tourny, although I believe Aspers now have dealers for the evening MTTs so i'll have to get back and try out the games again.

I posted on here a while ago rich about my cash game diary, it didnt work out too well....

i played a lot of poor poker and was down too my own play no one elses calling spots where i knew i shoulnt have been and getting involved in too many hands.

after a week or two away came back too my acount and with £5.40 in it. I never had enough
     too play  £5.75 BH.

the plan was too take a few heads hopefully run deep and build a little from what was in my account.

so having a glance at what was coming up i saw a late reg for £5.30 it was for the £30.000 mega roller.

coming 2nd in that secured my seat for the semi. thinking it wasnt going too start as only 3 where in i was about ready too take the £24 and play some mtts's.

the game did start and i went on too win it so have secured my seat for next sunday's mega roller.
£110 is miles out my mtt range. looking forward too playing this. although the £110 is tempting aswell lol
cant do it hough as ebery sunday i look and watch on tv and say wish i was in that. so i will defo be playing.

so deposited £5 tonight for the DTD's and see how they go.

    Session 42  (3 hr x 6 tabs) +£7.11
    BR: 516.32

Small winning session. I cant quite believe I won so little although I knew I took a few beats.... turned fh over my trips, turned bigger house to outdraw my flopped house... you name it. I won most back in a big pot when I shoved over BigBluster's sb squeeze with my TT and then flopped a set and coolered the opener with AA.

I ended the session well up on 3 tables and so im confused where the money went! Ah well, the fact that I am disappointed with a profit shows I am making progress.

I noticed that I am in the running for a small bonus in the winter games promo which is nice. Unfortunately I have not been able to play in most bonus freerolls that I gain entry to as I have been working. I also forgot to input the 'Cash Kings' bonus code and I could have picked up a small bonus from that as well as one of the top raking 100 cash players on the site...... Go me!

Cheers for the update Chris. So, if I'm reading you right you binked a seat in the big game on Sunday worth £110? Nice one!

But you're also saying that taking the cash would be nice too, so you're going to try and satellite in as well to get the buy-in back? Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully, you'll have the best of both worlds- £110 in your backpocket and a seat at the Roller!

For giving us the update (and in case things don't work out via the sats or you don't cash on Sunday)- I'll give you this week's seat on offer to next Tuesday's Turbo Open. Hopefully you'll make some moolah off that!

Right- another week, another session. Luckily the main and mini is more affordable on a Tuesday, so I'll yet another crack at that and then Mastercash it for the rest of the night.

I'll let you know on what tables as and when.

    Good luck everyone!

Going fairly well tonight- just bowed out the main but managed to cash, winning £24.48.

So I'm in profit already for the night.

But...I'm still in the mini event as we head towards Hour 3.

71st out of 120 remaining runners

That big finish still eluding me this year, but hey, for the first time in 2014 I cashed in both the main and the mini on the same evening. So, I'm slowly playing myself into form.

On to the cash tables now for 90 mins to try not to lose the £15.75 profit I'm on at the moment...

    Watch this space.

    Not too shabby at all.

Finally, a decent session- cashes in both the main and mini.

And then a quick sesh on a 5p/10p Mastercash yielded a 64.5% profit on my tenner.

So, total profit for the night off my starting BR of £100 was £22.20.

Phew! Maybe, just maybe I've turned a corner here.

Keep your bankroll trials and tribulations coming, on this thread. Don't forget I'm awarding free Turbo Open Seats to the best contributors.

Thanks for the railers and the players who played and chatted with me and see you next Wednesday 5th March!

    Session 43  (2 hr x 6 tabs) -£13.90

    Session 44 (6 hr x 6tabs) +£25.31
    BR: 527.73

Again, I started this session by calling off light/bluffing too much and was in the hole for around 3 or 4 buyins. I smartened up and relaxed into the session and began to claw back my losses.

Halfway through the session I switched to the MC tables to get on TV and had some success cracking KK with q9s - although Ross said I was too nitty on the river not betting my 2 pair. The last time I featured on the show Ryan said I was 'a bit excessive' in my play and its fair to say that I can be erratic in my game.

Ended the session well up on all tables and was a bit dissapointed to see I only made a small profit. Still, I am moving in the right direction and having a bit more fun in the chatbox and enjoying my sessions.

Exited the main early after calling a bizarre overbet shove in a 3b pot - I need to stop doing this with questionable holdings (AQ on 7 high flop) as more often than not the villain is showing up with a value hand played badly (99). I know I am unlikely to be ahead but am stubborn and curious. Small cash in the mini after being rivered in a big pot when put my foot down after the bubble and could not recover.

Tried a sat for the 30k roller and opponents hit runner runner straights twice to bust me from top 3 stack. Ill keep trying to sat into this tourny.

I was on a couple of your tables tonight jim mate during the mastercash shows and its about the 3rd time ive played you and there is no doubt in my mind that your BR will just continue to go up aslong as you keep doing the same things.

Your a vey good player and should be playing alot higher imo if your br allowed it.

    Best of luck mate
