As some of you know i had a small diary a couple of weeks ago too see how i would go on the cash tables.  It didnt go great and was down too my own play. I was getting involved in far too many hands and calling rather than folding in spots where i think i really should've been.

Some people where helping and offering advice which was great and helped alot.

From this i have decided to post a diary that hopefully people will will have a read and input on some of the results and hand histories i post.

A little about me..... Im from Glasgow, I am married (in the pic) Mary-Anne (who does not want too hear another poker story) and have a beautiful little girl. I work as an transport training instructor ranging from HGV'S too forklift HIAB and CPC periodic training.   Before this i was an A mech (mechanic) for the Army.  I have been playing poker since i went too cyprus with the army on exercise and a freind taught me how too play and was hooked since 2007.  Only ever playing for fun never cash. My brother (Craigy77) introduced me to SKY around 2 years ago and said "deposit" your game will not improve unless its for money when u have something too lose.

Having done this i felt he was right  and soon improved on my game learning basic things like posistion and hand ranges. Betting sizes, pot building etc.

Still a beginer when it comes too it and am not a cosistantly cashing player but feel my game is improving.  I play for fun and do not take it too serious and will never play or deposit what i can not afford.  I have had more success playing live and a few casino wins around the glasgow area. I used too play trhe nuts poker league (not anymore) and always qualified for regional finals so i must have been doing something right.

Now what i find is im really enjoying my online poker on SKY and dont have a set game. I mainly play MTT's some HU SnG's and DYM'S.

Having got involved with the forum and joining TPT have got too know alot of the names i see on the 861 and at the tables and has been great reading stories and the input and how evreyone tries too help and doesnt single anyone out and always giving good advice.

    The aim.
The plan is too play all the games i enjoy and hopefully start too buld a BR nothing massive but just enough too play with.  I have deposited more than withdrawn but as its a hobby i dont mind as i will not play or deposit which i cant afford. Its mainly £5 or £10 here and there.  Ill try some sats too get in the mains or the deepstacks which i really enjoy.
Mainly playing the Mtts its hard too cash all the time and before i know it i have to put another £10 quid in again.    This is the part i would like too change and hopefully the aim is over time see it increase.  I also really enjoy the omaha games and played 3 MTT.S cashing in all 3 of these  1ST 2ND and 3RD and apart from some DYM'S thats the only omaha i have played. luck?? miby.

So i wil be making a small deposit on friday and start my diary. up or down i will continue with this as if i dont post the truth id only be cheating myself.

only having £5.37 in my account on sunday, logged on too play a BH hopefully win a a couple of heads. as i was 40p short of the £5.75 i late regged for 30k mega roller and tried my luck. Before i knew it i won and took the semi aswell and secured my seat for £30.000 the mega roller. Tepmted too take the £110 as that would be the biggest my BR would have ever been im going too play it. And hopefully the aim on Sunday is too just enjoy the game as it will be biggest game ive played online. watching sky poker everynight and thinking it would be great to play the sunday roller, now i have my chance i will not be taking th £110.

well thats it from me and look forward too the feedback positive and negative too help me on my way with this.

    Good Luck at the tables.

    Good luck Chris
I always find the diaries far more interesting when I know a little bit about the person.
I've only played with you once from what I can remember, in one of the DTD games. You seemed to have a pretty good understanding of the game. Only blip that I can remember was when you nearly folded a straight against me, thinking I had a full house. I never have it!

Hope you finish 2nd in the roller. You might be ex army but I reckon TheRock is pretty hard! He might kick off if I don't want him to win :)

Good luck in your quest Chris.  Played against you a couple of times and you definitely have a good grasp of the game.  With the determination that you have I'm 100% certain you'll succeed.  If I don't sat in for the roller, then I hope you take it down beating therock HU :)

as for the rock ....... ill settle for 2nd no probs.

    Well pay day has arrived.

Which means I can deposit some funds and kick off my diary.

looking at around £50 and just pkay a few games. Miby the deepstacks or a BH.
The plan is too make this deposit last the month hopefully with positive results.

Orford gave me a seat into the tuesday turbo for £11 so looking forward too this
any tips on how I should play the turbo??? I enjoy this game because its more in my affordable buy in for the mains through the week and on ever managed  a min cash so any advice will be much aporeciated.

during this time if I do win any large amount it will be withdrawn a am saving funds with my young family.
Hey 1st in the roller would be very nice lol but wont be getting my hopes up
    Too much.

As for BR management I know its really important but not really sure where too start when im playing a variety of games. £5.75 being a quite reguler for BH's.

So any advice on BR management with a sum of £50 will be great aswell.

BRM...£50 that you want to make last a month if possible..

Dont play the £5.75 BHs! you only have 8 Buy Ins... The whole £50 could easily be gone within a week. I'd probably want around 20 buy ins if I could reload at the start of the month. If I were you I'd stick to the £2.20 games for now

i was thinking that, just people say brm is really important, i can understand this but as i only deposit small amounts a time i find it difficult when i do enjoy some of the £5.75 BH's because some are relly good prizepools.

i will play some of the smaller buy ins definatly because of the amount, if it doesnt last the month its not a very big problem but would like to avoid this and just a challenge too myself.

thanks for the input tho chickenmelt

    Good Luck in the Roller.

Just a little heads up - you mention in your first post that you are tempted to withdraw the £110 and just add it to your bankroll. I am pretty sure that Sky won't let you do that, if you de register from a tourney you have qualified for (rather than bought in direct) they DONT refund your buy in.

By the way I qualified for one of the rollers a few weeks ago via a £3 ish all in sat (no skill involved) and was also tempted to withdraw the buy in as I was running like a dog, tired and really not that enthusiastic about playing it for those reasons, (it was before i found out that i couldn't withdraw the buy in obviously).

Anyway I decided to play it after all and final tabled for £1,100 ish which was a nice boost to my Sky bankroll. If I can do then anyone can!

Good luck again and remember the No 1 rule for successful poker - BANKROLL MANAGEMENT.

    Hey Chris,

    Good luck with your challenge.

There are players far better suited to give advice on MTT's than myself, i've only played in one £110 BI main event on sky, and that's cause i was in through a free roll.

Mostly just enjoy it and the experience.

When i played it, at my table was |James| a really high stakes cash player, as well as 1 other top notch Cash player and a top notch MTT player. At first it was a bit daunting having all these good players at the table, but i soon found my rythym. Just treat it like any other MTT, play your game and hopefully run awesome!

I would play Tight and Aggresive in the early stages, then open up a bit when blinds starting going up. In the first 2 hours even if you are not involved in many hands it won't mater in the slightest as the blinds are so low.

    All the best!

so played the mega roller last night and the mini.

Just couldn't get going in the mega at all.  felt I played ok didn't get out of line too much. just a lot of players making straights and flushes against me, I know most of the time they will miss what there chasing, and me having things like 2 pairs and tp with tk, finding myself having too slow right down on the turn, just one of those nights I think.

or I could be very wrong, my exit hand I should not have been involved in I think TBH.

as for the mini, went really well at first and was sitting in the top 2o for the first part of the tournament, got QQ was raised up, I re-raise then I get re-raised???? now I know this screams I think, KK or AA anyone folding here? he had me covered aswell.    He id have AA and that was that over.

anyway, played the heads up games aswell with benc and got spanked 3-0 vgp.  although I feel I done ok he was ahead when it counted. TpTk into overpair then Tp K kicker into TpTk  and he had the  J over my pocket 99's.
    But was a tough game.
relised I was in trouble when I searched him and sen he was playing a gd few hyper Hu games at higher stakes than I would ever choose lol........ :( just knew it would be tough.   hey who wants easy!!

well heres a hand from the megan one of those river ones lol any advice on this would be great.

Lost the minimum if anything in that hand above definitely cbetting and betting the turn in that spot so many draws and 10x that don't like to fold paying us off, i probably put in a smallish value bet with intention of bet/folding trying to get value from aload of jx 10x hands that have flatted from bb. Will keep an eye on this thread, good games by the way, a couple of tips keep your bet sizing consistent regardless of range i.e stick to 2x 2.5x or 3x for all your range rather than 2xing some hands 4xing others, good luck improving your game sure with your enthuiasm you will do well just get the volume in.
