WON £2.35 B/R £457.91 PTS 1668 £5 GAMES W 1 L 0 TOTAL W 75 L 58 PROFIT +£18.50
October summary;
B/R start of month £355.91 (inc sept c4p of £10.08)
B/R end of month £457.91 not inc (oct c4p £16.68 to come)
months profit; £102 inc c4p = £118.68
£5 games; profit of £18.50
Another winning month so as always happy with that,... who wouldn't be.
as to the £5 games,
happy being in profit, even a small one. had one bad losing session losing £23.50 which I learnt from, & from dropping to as low as -£4.00 from that a week or so ago, am really pleased to rebuild back up to £18.50
Going to continue playing £5 games through November, as long as I am in profit anyway, & continuing booking the wins whenever possible.
I think having a solid game plan in place & being able to keep to it, is the way forwards right now.(something any player similar to myself also trying to make the breakthrough at this level, or any other, could try).
by that I mean booking the wins, (which keeps b/r stable at worst hopefully, & moving forwards at best.)...
ok, it's not everyone's 'cup of tea' I appreciate that...but the facts don't lie...IT WORKS that's why I use it & recommend you do it too, if only to begin with, after you have shown you can win at the higher level, then you can please yourself how you wish to progress.
having a 'stop loss' in place is also key right now I feel. If I lose game 1 then I will play game 2 hoping to win that & being £1 down. I then have the option of playing game 3. winning that ensures a £3.50 win, losing gives a £6.50 loss.
This is where we should now stop....either way.(or I will anyway).obviously the option is there to continue should we win & wish to continue playing, which I don't mind either.
Obviously losing games 1 & 2 gives us an £11 loss & a tricky decision. do we try to win game 3 & try to reduce our loss to £6.50 or risk losing game 3 & losing £16.50?
I think losing £11 is the better option, (having played the 3rd game both winning & losing it), & takes away that decision completely. it also guards against a potentially bigger loss, which dents our b/r but more importantly perhaps, our confidence, which if you haven't got then you might as well give up right now.
Table selection; I now use this & advise you to do the same. Any more than 2 good reg's on any table then don't bother playing, it really doesn't make any sense to.
ok, you get to play them & learn from them but you are simply going to struggle to make any money.. it's that simple.
Load up 8 tables & watch them for free.
Once you have shown to not only yourself but to other players too, that you can win, then you are in a great position to move forwards & take the next step of making this 'your level' & increase the number of games & tables you play.
Even though it is still early days, & there is by no means any guarantees of me beating this £5 level, I am already doing my homework at the £11 level in preparation for that, at some future point
You have to have your dreams, don't you...well I do anyway. lol
I like the way you are doing your homework so you know who the good regs are and how they play before you risk the money. Wish I was that disciplined!
I asked a question on last nights show about best way to grow profit when a profitable low stakes player and the advice from Chris Moorman was to go for volume above stake increases which I am going to try out in Nov.
Double points for SNGs will help with that too - and it looks like there will be plenty of action on the PLO8 dyms thanks to Maca.
In terms of mentality dym wise I have simple mentality aim to win 2 out of the next 3 I play irrespective of previous results. Obviously nice to win all 3 - but helps with the focus and stops me beating myself about a loss. On a tough table often ends up a shove/fold 4 handed game and there's not much you can do about a bad run of beats from there.
Dev, your stop loss system 'works' because you have a winrate that allows it to.
In other words you are beating the level. If you are rolled and skilled id advise you to put decent volume in and forget about booking £1-3 session wins. Broll growth will be slow if you are worried about losing sessions.
If its a mental block or confidence issue id want to be advising people to tackle and plug those leaks head on and not accommodate them with such nitty stoplosses and booking miniscule wins.
If booking the win or stopping when losing is a confidence thing then I guess it's ok.
The example you give just doesn't make sense.
The decision isn't a tricky one at all. You're going to play the following day and your risk of losing £16.50 is just the same.
Volume is the key to Dym success in my opinion. In best ever month at Dyms profit wise, I had a 100 game breakeven run.
Agree on table selection. I don't do it and just register blind but your approach makes more sense than mine.
Don't do yourself a disservice. Just because 2 good regs are registered it doesn't mean that you are going to struggle to win. You're a good reg yourself.
Pleased that you're giving the £5's a good bash nowadays. You can comfortably best them.
WON £6.20 B/R £516.69 PTS 226 £5 GAMES W 3 L 1 TOTAL W 90 L 66 PROFIT +£42.00
lost 1st £5 game but continued anyway, & to win 3-1 & boost my winnings even further is great for my confidence as well as my b/r, & I now am beginning to believe that at long last the £5 level is beatable... hoooray
ok, a bad run can spoil everything, I know that, & things can change 'just like that' but as long as things continue as they are
then I see no reason to change anything & simply continue with the slowly slowly approach for the time being at least.
WON £3.30 B/R £519.99 PTS 246 £5 GAMES W 1 L 0 TOTAL W 91 L 66 PROFIT +£46.50
just a quickie ROI = 5.39% -:)
edit;9/11/14
I know I can't keep this win rate up on the £5's but am on a roll for the first time & it has come at exactly the right time for me, so I'm not complaining, ha ha.
I try & take it not just 1 game at a time but 1 decision at a time on every hand, & as long as I get the majority right then the rest is out of my hands so to speak.
(I made a couple of bad decisions y'day after giving them more thought but luckily they were on 2 x £3 games, one was an allin with ak on kxx after opponent re-raised my initial raise.. he had kk,
the other a tight player raised 450 pre flop I went allin with a7 trying to steal chips(on the bubble)thinking he would fold, he had aq & held, so another 2 lessons learnt... just shows I'm human though I guess, & still learning as we all do especially from our mistakes, I think.)
I know a losing session is coming as winning every time is impossible, so I am ready for it & damage limitation will be my priority when it comes.
Almost half way there mate! The first half is always the hardest. I have no doubt you will complete this, and well deserved. This is a perfect example of how BR management works.

Food for thought.
