Had a bit of a moment reading this, thought how does Sam know I have a plastic member, then realised you were talking credit card.....;)

Put your heating on highest setting, then put oven on, wrap up warm, put sunglasses on, close your eyes, imagine your in Antigua,and it won't be anything like it.;)

We had a lovely time thanks, the flights went well as I got my preferred seating option with extra legroom although the seats were a tad narrow and rubbed on my bad leg long flight as well., but mustn't grumble as the old saying goes.

Spent the first 3 days in Puerto Rico, lovely hotel, beautiful place, swimming pool at the hotel was a relief from the 90 degree beaming sunshine it had a casino inside so was rude not to have a dabble, played cash game 2/5 dollar blinds, I was on waiting list and watched what I thought was the softest game I have ever seen, folk calling AA 's 400 dollar all in on a flop of 46k, of course the AA guy had raised big pre, caller had 3,5, of course he hit 2 river, not a flicker from the beaten AA guy.rigged live ey

Sooo I sit down with my 100 dollar spending money, limp A9 first hand, 6 other limpers, A9Q flop,yummy, some lunatic shoves all in, I snap call his AQ  doh. Second night I have KK and another 100 dollars gets shoved pre this time, 5 callers, praying no A on board ........ Flop A37,turn 9 river Q. I stand, everyone shows, nobody has an ace - scoopio

4th day get on board the Adventure of the Seas Cruise Ship, massive, holds over 3000 folk, we have a room with a balcony,lovely,the crew work their socks off,we got chatting to the restaurant waiter who told us he was married and worked 7 months on board 7 days a week omg. Tipping is obligatory,can't really complain but it isn't the English thing and it's hard to gauge how much and when, we pre paid our tips and gave extra ones to our waiter and his helper,and the chap who cleaned our room- fully deserved,always had a smile on their faces and the service was superb. We (Sarah) had pre booked 3 excursions, first one was snorkelling, was a bit cloudy overhead but nice and warm, we have snorkelled? 3 or 4 times before and love it, seeing the incredible varieties of tropical fish just beneath the surface is a sight to behold. They give us the usual safety advice before we get to the best place to enter the water, then they ask what size flippers we need, oh by crikey, American sizes make no sense, so I eventually squeeze into size 13's and jump in.

Water was a bit choppy but managed to take a few photos, then things took a turn, I have always liked swimming, consider myself a decent swimmer and am happy in the water....but....all of a sudden I was gasping for air,wondered what was going on, took my snorkel gear off and waved to Sarah to come over, of course she promptly waves back with a big smile on her face obviously thinking I am over the moon with the experience, I then am a tad worried as I can't take enough air in my lungs it seems and am struggling to stay afloat,even with a bloody life jacket on, panic mode, wave frantically to Sarah who gets the message and swims over to me, we wave to the boat who throw a life ring, embaressing now but by crikey I was glad to be pulled in. So sorry to Sarah but she waved it off and stayed on board with me, 

The day got better and we had a lovely time walking round town later doing a bit of shopping, love the "how much" shenanigans, got some bargains and some lovely presents for Sarah and the kids.

Gil & I went down to Southampton last year to take a look at the Adventure of the Seas Cruise Ship when she was in dock.

It's extraordinary, it docks at 7am, everyone disembarks, then the next lot of passengers board, & she sets sail on the evening tide at 4pm. Incredibly efficient really.

I don't know what all these things mean, but I'll +1 them.

The holiday continued with lovely weather and food 24/7 if that's what you want ( hrry take note - a real balcony too ) we had another excursion thingy booked, I had fully recovered from my " near death experience" as my good lady jokingly says. I decided to Man Up and face the unknown of Segway riding., Sarah was a bit apprehensive as she cannot ride a bike without falling off

We travelled in a coach to the Segway meeting place ( a hut in the middle of a forest) and had instruction on how to ride them, they were the ones with BIG Wheels and a foot plate you stand on with a sort of handlebar you hold on (gently mind) and the chap told us we must trust the machine and don't go leaning too far forwards or backwards ( too much to take in) 

Tried it, really easy to do and such a strange experience leaning forward and scooting off I WANT ONE, we toddled off through the forest and along the path at the side of the beach,Sarah really got the hang of it and was almost as good as me

They upped the speed we could go towards the end and Sarah asked if she could go at the same time as me (there were about 20 of us) bloke said of course, I went to the side of her and she shot off into the sunset, I tried to catch her up...but failed, I think hers was faster than mine.....

Had a most productive day today, food shopping early doors, then house cleaning with my good lady, then sat down and decided to reminisce the good old days of horse and greyhound racing on you-tube.

First port of call had to be the 1973 National, I recall a lad in our group of reprobates was telling us all that Crisp was an absolute cert, he backed it anti post at every price, on the day of the race he put his rent money on, imagine his emotional turmoil when Richard Pittman had to bring the whip out coming to the Elbow ( I still think that is what lost him the race )

If he'd have ridden "hands and heals" I think he could have coaxed the gallant Crisp over the line, but then again Red Rum was getting a lot of weight and ran on strongly - YouTube it  and watch the whole race,you will not be disappointed , and think of my mate when you suffer one bad beat in one of the hundreds of games you play

Next stop for me was the incredible Scurlogue Champ Greyhound, I cannot begin to describe how good this particular dog was and how it won its races, similar to how Red Rum won against Crisp....Every Time...unbelievable.

I wouldn't have a clue how to put a bet on a horse. I'd probably do similar to my Mum and have a bet on bar.

I had my first ever football bet this year. Needed help to do that.

Derby to win promotion

Portsmouth to win promotion

And my banker

Chelsea to finish top 2.

Think it might be my last football bet.

The only horse I've ever backed (well my Dad put 30p each way on for me) was Corbiere to win the national. Think it was 1983?

So I'm a life time winner at horse racing.

Not sure that many can say that

Today is one year since I had Brachytherapy, the year has flown by it seems. My emotions vary from really happy to really down and depressed feeling sorry for myself. I think back to before my diagnosis and I was pretty much ok, the change in my body and functions has been massive, sleep is also an issue, I get up to go to the bathroom between 3 and 5 times every night,so DTD night is particularly brutal if I run well, the things I do for the team - I'm a hero .

I look ok, and carry on doing normal everyday tasks, going to work, etc, the thing is that makes me feel a bit of a fraud really, I have had a tremendous amount of support from my good lady and close family, and the comments on here and elsewhere on the forum really make me feel humbled, my sons just turned up so I will post more later.

Hi goldon, firstly thanks for posting, blimy reading all of my ramblings must have helped you go to sleep.

Yes you raise lots of truths about us men, I tried to be a little bit different from the norm and maybe encourage a few others who are struggling to perhaps post and get others to offer support, it makes a huge difference when people get together and offer encouragement when you are feeling low.

You are also right in your observation that getting help and support from close family is crucial and I am lucky enough to have a wonderful wife who keeps me grounded, and children that care and help in there own way.

I didn't have the option of an operation to remove the prostate as my cancer is outside the shell and it wouldn't be any use doing that, it seems you are in a good place at present and I wish you all the best for the future, 10 years ey,gives me hope for my condition to be treated and have many more years ahead,sometimes though I do feel a difference in my body and the constant visits to the bathroom make me wonder if the treatment is working, maybe it's just the way it is, I really should listen to the consultant when he is going through all the ins and outs of what may or may not happen, but I tend to get a bit emotional when we go to hospital for my reviews, my wife does pay attention though and takes me through what was said when we get home.

Anyway, good luck for the future, and as far as the poker, good luck with that also, for me it's a distraction which helps.

Haha, no worries, I go through a lot of pain and anguish but like to keep grounded and post random day to day stuff which balances it out.

Yesterday I posted a photo of my daughter on my Facebook page, she was going to a wedding and I was so proud,she doesn't like me posting pics of her but I think I got away with it as she hasn't berated me....yet.

Just been in town to do the last of my Xmas shopping, by last I mean gifts for my lovely wife (she has sorted gifts for all the family) I did help putting the Xmas tree up last week though

My poker has been going ok - ish, I play mostly mtt's and do ok, the other day I played 4 and cashed in all 4 , reached FT of the £2 deep stack but didn't manage to take it down, been a while since I won that one,I must be due soon

My good lady has finished work now for Xmas, I work til Xmas eve, she will be busy next week preparing stuff and she has offered to go round to her brothers and look after him as he has just come out of hospital and his wife has to work, I love my wife she is an absolute star.

Just popped in to say Merry Christmas to you & your family.

You are always kind enough to take time to thank everyone who posts on here, & that's nice, but you are an inspiration to so many of us, with your honesty & bravery during what must have been a dreadful time for you. When I see so many "glass half full" Posts on the community, complaining of some triviality or other, I always think of folks like you who have real life issues, & yet seem to stay cheerful, positive & happy.

You are a real hero to us.
