Got a few more games in today. Earlier on hit a run of bad bubble beats - standard run for DYM play. Later on got a bit luckier - though not as lucky as the SB in this hand... Bit of missing DYM strategy from the BB here I think. Even though ul their nut low gets counterfeited on river, why risk any chips here with the pf call? Even down the streets why would I be bluffing and they are risking getting quartered. Player Action Cards Amount Pot Balance jorzar05 Small blind 150.00 150.00 605.00 really? See this quite a lot and i just dont get it.
Guess some people just see a half decent hand and cant let go.
I'd be folding AA32 in this spot with the shorty only having 2bb.
First FR played - bumbled around starting stack with nothing much happening until down to 9BB. Shoved A9 ran into AJ gg gn.
Missed DTD as I could only get on my phone at the time. Seems I would have lost my token had I entered it. Waiting to see what happens with the tournament tokens before I enter my next SNG as I would like to save them as advertised (and most volume will be saved for double points promo at the weekend).

what phone do you have ? I might know a work around.
This time my AQs v AJo v 24s (I was covered aipf and the side pot remained static until the 4 came on the river, bet and called and the 4's win)
Plenty more chances to get a bit of luck and hopefully it will come in a batch in a single tourney and achieve a bit of binkage.
Only other game was the £1 PLO8 MTT - last of the 4 game league. Unfortunately couldnt join earlier games and try for a low score in the league. Made it to FT about 3rd/4th in chips. Picked up some decent hands and "went for it". 1st allin split, 2nd one donated my stack to Churchy gn gg and all.
Yesterday I did my 20 minute micro-teach - seemed to go pretty well, apart from managing my time and not getting a final exercise in. Took me forever for to prepare this 20 mins - beginning to find a bit of understanding and sympathy for teachers workload outside the classroom now. And that's without a whole bunch of other responsibilities that teachers carry to worry about.
Profit could have been a whole lot better if it wasnt for those pesky cash tables, x4 points were needed to get up to the 100 points today. All down to one hand really, I flopped 2nd nut str8 v top 2 pair, all-in on flop and opponent housed up on the river.
Managed to get some volume in and cleared the 50 point target with x2 points on SNGs before noon.
Certainly made some mistakes while trying to Multitable and Multitask (including reporting an abusive player) - that got messy when I was typing in live chat and ended up betting 1001 chips with 73 - luckily everyone folded.
However when I cut down the tables the beats were hitting table after table and ended up losing quite a bit.
In the evening I decided to take advantage of the points gained and regged for a UKOPS Qtr FR. Could only get on my phone at the time but then missed even late reg for the Rewards FR. Was doing Ok until a poorly timed shove with about 8bb and bustio.
Tuesday only played the Rewards FR. I was running well (TT > AK and AK = AK > KQ) then KK < AT so gn gg. Dont mind risking stack ealry doors in these FRs to try and build a decent stack to pick off the shorties and keep well ahead of the blinds - luck just not holding at the moment.
Loved Cenachev's post re "the holy grail". Showing my age I suppose but that and the Life of Brian class films from my formative years.
No evening class tomorrow night so I should be ok for the FR again although I do have to finish an essay and catch up with my "portfolio". By catch up - I mean complete it from scratch including 8 weeks of reflection and reading log (don't tell teach please).
Well with no college this evening I had plans for a serious poker session,
However, turns out Mrs P had plans for a visit to Debenhams sale, and my eldest son needed a lift.
So regged the Rewards FR but couldn't start playing until just before 8. Then had to take my son out just as the blinds were biting. I tried shoving a couple of times but sadly they got through - I was really trying to double up or bust.
By the time I had dropped my son off and pulled in to a safe spot to check my phone - I was < 2BBs shoved some rubbish and had 2 players all-in behind me and I was crushed - managed to get to the river with outs but missed gg gn.
But then, I got a credit for £1. My first FR cash and with the token fund that brings the Mrs P holiday fund up to the grand total of £4.05. Which considering in former c4p I would have earned £3.08 (and not got it for another couple of weeks) means at least I am doing better on the reward front so far.
Managed to get the 100 points in with a few quick sessions on the mobile over the weekend.
Also made a profit of over £9 on the week, recovering from quite a hole by Monday lunchtime.
Even had 3 winning cash sessions including a very brief run on a new spin up table - just wanted a quick looksee, 2nd hand in c/r what I thought was a bluff - was right and stood after folding button hand. Imagine they are going to be very swingy to say the least and at 50nl really beyond my B/R/ 10nl probably still beyond my b/r but had a couple of wins on a capped and a mastercash table.
In real life had a beer and curry night out on Friday had regged for Rewards FR but didn't play it.
Middle column below is the total for the challenge and the right column is this week (week 3).
If I had entered the stuarty/RLT (and others) challenge I would either be looking like a star performen or complete donkey depending on whether I nominated PLO8 (72.3%) or NL (41.2%).
Would love to only play £1 6max and £3 PLO8 as these are my favourites - but sometimes just have to go where the actions is when I am online.
Nice to see your challenge evolving to cater for customer demands whilst still keeping sight of your obectives. Posted by mumsie
Thanks Mumsie I aim to please and if I only posted about sales that Mrs P gets me to accompany her on - it would be of very thin value to sales seekers.
Won another £1 in last nights rewards freeroll so now up to £7.35 for the Mrs P holiday fund. Not a lot granted but it's a start and considering that is way more than I think I ever received in c4p at least it means the new rewards is working well for me.
I think the poker gods are telling me to quit NL dyms. I got off to a flyer this morning with 2 small pairs hitting a set and a FH to build a good stack and bust one player. Then get a run of premium hands ending up busting another player. So its the bubble and I am />5k for ages. Player to my right is not attacking my BB so its almost cigar time. As blinds go up naturally more open shoving (but no calling) going on. I have a couple of marginal calling spots but let them go then hit a ard dead streak until around 3.5k chips and stacks getting pretty equal all round.
Figuring I must now have a super tight image I pick up A5s in SB folded to me so I shove....and run into AKs. Next hand shove A6 called by BB 67 and 89T flop with no split coming to the rescue its sigh gg. I suppose the earlier calling spots could have been used, but then realistically that A5 shove gets through 90% of the time and doesn't lose every time so even on a bubble has to be +EV? Just getting a bit ridic my win rate at these at the moment.
Meantime variance being balanced in the PLO8 variety actually around 60% on average of the 2 formats which is about par I reckon.
Numbers starting to turn black, which is nice. Even managed to win a NL dym today 1/1 banked the win. Also keeping a run of cash wins going (all small - and still overall in the red on cash). Binked a small PLO8 MTT £1 16 entrants for a £8 boost and MTTs are now in profit overall. Overall Totals now: Phantom fund £5.18 Mrs P fund £7.35 SNG Total £7.55 MTT Total £2.34 Cash -£4.71 Overall Balance is £62.53 / Overall Profit is £12.53 Unlike Mr Orford I don't just sing when I am winning but it is nice to be able to chirp up every now and again with something positive. You mean booked the win LOL, think i heard that somewhere before but i cant remember, i am a idiot sometimes.
In Response to Re: New Rewards - New Challenge : You mean booked the win LOL, think i heard that somewhere before but i cant remember, i am a idiot sometimes. Posted by stuarty117
Yes I do mean "booked". I didn't withdraw it to my bank account.
A certain former DYM diarist used to cause a lot of debate about "booking" wins. Not my normal mentality but feeling a bit fragile on NL dyms at the moment.
Last night managed to play the final two PLO8 league games. Good fun as usual one day will have to find the time to make the early entries. Managed a 4th place in the 920 £1 game.
Bricked the Rewards FR.
Made a small profit while bagging some x4 points on the cash just before 7 tonight. Up to 91 so should make the 100 again,
With my ongoing NL dym torment (2 more losses this afternoon) I saw there was a £2.25 turbo nearly full so I regged that as didnt have much time and thought the lower BI and fewer decisions might help me.
The run continued I am afraid, so just for the lolz....
Only had the one short session over the weekend - bonus points cash on Sunday which didn't work out so well.
I was due a losing session and it came so £-5.90 on the day to dip below a B/R of £60. Still a profit of £13.54 for the week. As I was playing on the phone I lost track of my points so went a full "unnecessary" 33 pts over the 100.
I think there was only one bad play in there when I paid off a turned 2 pair with what looked like a brick card.
Assuming the £2.30 is still cash and not a token that will take my monthly rewards to £9.65 plus anything I make from the last 2 freerolls. That's more than double the equivalent under the old scheme.
Saved the best til last for June in the Rewards FR.
Was on a few tables with "names" I knew but unfortunately was on the phone so couldnt chat - included a rare table share with Mrs Duck - I dont play 50nl so dont think I have ever shared a table with her before. Eventually busted by a very chipped up Geldy who didnt really need to stack me with his 77 v my A8 but he duly did anyway.
In truth I had been a tad lucky in a few spots earlier dishing out a couple of embarassing bad beats that I couldnt even apologise for.
£4 won tonight bringing the total to £13.65 achieved in rewards from a total of 488 points for June.
The new scheme is therefore officially x2,8 better than old one Plus I already have the pounds in the kitty instead of having to wait another week.
I have played more and made a small profit - most of all refound my poker mojo.
Played DTD last night (well nearly) was only on the phone playing DTD1 and by the time I could get on computer DTD2 reg was closed. Made DTD3 and went deep only to bust 14th bubble+1 when QQ < AT to get short and then had a chance to double up but JT < 22 gg gn. Truly was a gg gn - especially with some MK survivor banter at the tables.
Lured in by the prospect of witnessing Hhys's full six inches* on display I have even broken cover and joined the Sky live event fb group, so "the phantom" is now unmasked. Really hope to get to the next live event (sorry in advance to my liver)
Forum really hotting up in the best possible way with the chatter from vegas now the Sky package winners are there.
GL 2 everyone.
*(heels - not appendages I cannot confirm or deny rumours of anything else that may or may not measure up)
likewise on phone, soz & all that but thks for the chips was dreaming of an ipad at that stage but had to settle for £20 still as i'm only earning 1/10th of my pre-change c4p mustn't grumble Posted by GELDY
vwp and ul on 4th and missing the ipad.
1/10th? - Is the rewards really that bad for you or are you just playing alot less?
I'm playing a little bit more than usual - but in comparing c4[ old v new I'm just looking at what I would have got with the same points on the old scheme.
I would have probably started this week with a moan about bad beats and a lack of self control on the cash tables, but
1. Logging on and reading the sad news about Dale Edwards kind of puts everything else in perspective.
2. In truth the bad beats weren't that bad - I shouldnt be playing nl cash with my b/r. Self control is the main issue here not the beats. I have lost time of the number of times I have said I shouldnt be playing cash and gone on and done it.
I was chasing points and most of my losses came on a bad run playing 10nl on my phone during x4 points hour on Friday.
I need to properly reflect on my cash as memory tends to play tricks and blame the cards and the opponents but I know I made mistakes and they we were exaggerated by some tilt.
Upshot is 103 pts earned - B/R back down to £40.76. So there will be £2.30 more to come today and I can take a shot at the FRs with a top prize of a UKPC seat.
So with the timely reminder that I am fortunate enough to be able to carry on playing this week, I'll aim to do just that and will make a contribution to the FlyingDagg fundraiser, hopefully through some winnings.
Cant say I wont play cash again - but I wont do until I have analysed last weeks sessions and come up with a bankroll rule.

1. I am back in the black - winning session + £2.30 token as cash = balance back over £50
2. I found this which will be an essential resource for mumsie

My return to black helped by a bit of luckbox action in a £1 6 max with JJ /> AA and AK > AQ on a QJx flop with two rivered straights.
NL Dyms running baaaad - PLO8 Dyms running gooood.
Good luck at the tables (and the sales racks) everyone.
