Blackburn had 4 shots in the first half, all in the space of 2 seconds. PNE had by far the best of the game up until Blackburn got the ball into the box from a set piece and then 1 post 1 great save and 2 goal line clearances later it finally goes in off the back of our keeper.
2nd half started ok then a bit of pace on the break and a player goes down running along the edge of the 18 yard box and it's a penalty and 2-0.
Nice to see Garner get off the mark, hopefully first of many. It's was pretty much all PNE with Blackburn having 11 men behind the ball and a cracking atmosphere under the lights on a cold crisp November afternoon. Clear 2 handed shove in the back of Adam Reach pen not given though and Blackburn hold for the win.

Chatsworth house Christmas market was good, a lot of stalls with variety. House and grounds look spectacular so we plan to go back in the spring/summer for a proper looksee.

Terrible weather. Sons uni even shut a week early due to power cut. He isn't complaining due to the extensions to coursework. Easy enough for him to get home, not so much the overseas students or any from Scotland as the trains are not running.
Busy week coming up - including a day in Swindon on Wednesday so probably won't be on the tables much.
Elder son back in just over a week so it will be a Phantom Full House - don't see many of those lately and when I do it's typically an underhouse. IE it will cost me a lot of money!

Yesterday morning I was woken up by the sound of our dog barking. In a flash of brilliant insight I am thinking I suppose I had better get up and let the dog out. My wife turns to me and says do you remember when sam was born and you bought me flowers from such and such florists. I mumble something in the affirmative - but it was nearly 22 years ago, Of course I would have bought her flowers - but where from? Didn't have a Scooby.
I focus at the job in hand and get up and let the dog out, bladder emptied and no mess on the kitchen floor - job done. The dog was ok too.
I can't help feeling though that I am missing something Mrs P is hinting at, and I got whooshed.
B/R nudged above £60. 100pts earned for the first time in a few weeks.

The poker gods were telling me not to bother. In my adjusted dym games I try not to take risks in the first few levels, although if I get dealt AA and someone raises ahead of me in a turbo the chips are going in. Exactly that happened and I lost to 22 and 99, flopped sets, rivered flush and str8.
Tiksy probably wont believe I ran bad today, although I think pretty much all my run good was saved when defending my BB as the s/stack on a PLO8 dym bubble v Tikay in one game.
Ended the day very marginally in profit and just back over £60.
50 or 55 points depending on how midnight decides points tallied (regged and started before or finished before) will definitely not be enough. Either way I suspect a couple of hundred short.
given the promotion was on though it did mean there were plenty of games running and enjoyed a bit of chat on the PLO8 tables.
Heard hendo won an iphone WP sir and RLT was running well in the main.
Finished the evening with AA < QJs. I think I did actually win with them once though.
Totally lost track of PLO8 results so will try and dig those out tomorrow.
Busy day tomorrow and then driving back across the M62 and then picking my son up from the airport on Wednesday morning.

Around 800 Sudanese refugees in Amman, Jordan have been peacefully protesting and camping outside the UNHCR for over a month. They began the protest out of desperation and initially wore tape over their mouths to signify that they feel that they are neglected and ignored here. Today their camp was forcibly cleared by the police and the refugees were detained. The authorities are now preparing to deport them all back to Sudan where the many civil conflicts they fled from continue to rage.
The Sudanese have several legitimate grievances about their treatment here in Jordan. Sudanese refugees cannot work here legally and the limited employment opportunities available to them are dangerous and low paid. They often cannot afford to send their children to school and even where they can many schools refuse to register them. The distinct lack of opportunities here and the fact that they face almost no chance of resettlement has left the Sudanese community of around 3,500 in a permanent state of limbo with no end in sight. Their everyday lives here are difficult and the majority of the community live in dangerous neighbourhoods with families often too afraid to leave their homes. They are subjected to daily racism which manifests itself in the form of both verbal and physical abuse. Some individuals have had garbage thrown at them or have even been spat at or urinated on.
I have seen the desperate conditions that they are forced to live in. Very few charities allocate any of their resources to helping the Sudanese community and the amount of help they receive is simply inadequate. I’ve seen families devoid of hope, strong men cowed and too scared to leave their homes, and families with sick children who they cannot afford to help. In a recent article a UN spokesperson claimed that on average a Sudanese family received a monthly payment of 214 JD but from speaking to the refugees themselves and seeing the conditions in which they live this figure does not stand up to scrutiny.
Despite their desperate situation they conducted their protest in a dignified and non-confrontational manner despite challenging circumstances which saw them denied access to food and sanitation and having their heaters and cooking stoves confiscated. Well-wishers and many journalists were prevented from speaking to the families and offering their help by the security and the public toilets were chained up which forced the families to go to the bathroom in buckets. Everyday a small group of Sudanese women were forced to walk for miles to prepare what little food they could find for the rest of the families camping out.
There is not universal answer to the question: “what did they hope to achieve hope with their protest?”. The protest was a reflection of their dearth of options and their sheer desperation. What they require is a fairer chance of resettlement and greater support to allow them to survive whilst they remain in the country. What would have been a good start would have been simply to treat them with the respect they deserve and to listen to what they have to say.
The issue of resettlement is of course bigger than the UNHCR with individual countries still responsible for deciding how many refugees they take and from which countries. Most countries have only offered to fill meagre quotas of refugees and only from certain countries. The sad truth is that refugee policy is overwhelmingly shaped by media coverage which in turn reflects national interests and security issues which is why the discussion on accepting refugees has been virtually reduced to only Syrian, and to much a lesser extent, Iraqi refugees. One can only hope that the likes of the UK will wake up soon and realise that it should not matter whether or not the conflict a refugee is fleeing is politically relevant at that time. This should not determine whether they deserve to be resettled.
Negotiations are currently underway to try and allow the Sudanese to stay in Jordan for now but it is clear that even if this is successful they will continue to face desperate conditions here and they will face little chance of resettlement with the system as broken as it is.

I have been steadily grinding up my small b/r. Briefly nudged over £70 only to drop back to mid 60's losing 2 out of my last 3 games and punting at a spinup table when SNGs were drying up. Got coolered 4 times in a row with underpair v overpair and dominated aces and didn't get lucky. Stood within my stop loss margin.
Used my token towards a 3.30 PLO8 dym and cashed.
Bit of a diary break - back now dear reader.
Had a good Christmas - both sons back so a full and busy house.
Watched PNE absolutely batter Hull 1-0 (no really)
Thought I had got some brownie points on the florist front. Remember the subtle hint? Well eldest son wanted to buy Mrs P some flowers for crimbo so I directed him to the very shop where I had (apparently) bought flowers when he was born.
He came home with a christmas bouquet, Mrs P loved them and the connection back to when he was born. Did I get any brownie points? Hell no - Why did you send him there - it's too expensive.
Enjoying our new toy - the Smart TV (2 tables of PLO8 regs know the full story which I cannot disclose for legal reasons). Never really been a gadget freak - always a late adopter - My b-in-law is complete opposite. The large analogue TV in draws 1-3 of the HUFA being his cast off from when he got an HD smart TV. Went to their house and they now have a 4k curve screen TV.
Been enjoying surfing Youtube on the TV - well searching on phone and linking to TV (ok so I'm about 3 years behind but it's cool to me).
If you haven't watched on Air with Channing I suggest you do - loved it. Also catching up with Car pool Karaoke - Stevie Wonder my favourite.
Poker wise had a terrible run between chrsitmas and new year - some run bad a bit of tilt and my b/r was halved.
So refocused in 2016 on Macacgirls challenge and my 1000 game PLO8 challenge and things started better in the new year.
Thought I would try an experiment today seeing as it is double points on SNGs.
I had previously grumbled on here about £5 turbo dyms - unbeatable etc (have caused me a couple of downswings in the past chasing points). However I had also reflected considerably on my play in them and thought it worthy of another stab.
I'll give it one session - totally focussed - lessons learned - go.
Won 9/10 - not even running like god. 1 game had AQs /> KK and 77 /> 88 and that was balanced by the loss game where KK < AT and A4 < KQ. Had x2 £2 and 1 £3 lost all of those though.
118 points earned and £28 profit so b/r now £66.
Obviously some hidden run-good in there too as never coolered when shoving and only outdrawn badly in 1 game - but generally felt confident and that could actually play these profitably. I'll stick to short sharp sessions 2-3 tables max and see if I can maintain it. I know B/R not big enough really so I'll have a stop loss in there too.
Main focus for the year is 1000 PLO8 games. The atmosphere on those tables especially mid-late evening is just great, most enjoyable games. Maybe not the most profitable, boy have those 3.30 games toughened up regularly see levels 8 and 9 - but fun and that's the most important thing.
Maybe I need a new diary title too. The New rewards is not so new anymore - I think I proved categorically that it was a better deal for low stakes recs, especially if you can get 100 points a week.
It's a big milestone birthday for me this year (no prizes for guessing) and for Mrs P in 2 years - so I really do need to get on with making some money for a poker holiday.
One advantage of playing a bit in the new year is I am now on sharkscope leaderboards - never been there before and I doubt it will last. Most of them are "count" but one was for profit - all sites micro under $2 dym profit. I'm on there in 8th with the princely sum of $2. Bit of a way to go to catch the leader though at $1906!
Made a terrible mistake for one loss and variance hit back with KK<A4 and QT < J9.
The mistake was really bad - so much so that it stopped me playing as can't be focussed to make this bad a mistake.
Shaming myself to try and learn from it. With AK in a dym it's generally shove at those blinds. Given the stack sizes taking on the big stack for a flip with a shorty left (245 chips) is madness. My "plan" at the time was to see a flop cheaply and then try and double up or get out of the way.. Unfortunately I hit the flop and big stack smashed the flop. Maybe a cooler post flop but really needn't be in the hand at all and especially just calling.

To help we have compared the insurance market to get the 2 for 1 cinema ticket offer and I bought an odeon gift card as a joint present. So what did we watch last night? Actually we didn't younger son took a mate to see Daddy's home.
Instead we went to the Blue Cross Sale at Debenhams #sigh. However we did have nice meal afterwards.
The dyms continued this morning.
There were a few reggy names on the tables and run good was nowhere to be seen. I now have 2 things in common with Chris Moorman.
1. I have been invited to play in the 220 at 220 (did I mention I won it)
2. I hate KK
Been aipf and lost with it several times in a row - Ax always catching the A, or raggy aces or suited aces hitting straights and flushes. Finally gii v an underpair and lambert flops quad 10s. #sigh.
Still I am detaching myself from short term results - on the whole I played the session well but the regs were not making silly mistakes and the games seemed pretty -EV, runbad turned them into a potential disaster. I then made the good decision to drop to £2/£3's before going bust.
Curious to see Lambert on a 2.25 turbo dym table, correctly guessed that he was grinding points so made a joke of it in chat.
B/R recovered a little. Will keep the games smaller for the rest of the week as I will coast 500pts and may still go for 1000 if I get the time.
Most of my downfall is about BRM (again) a sprinkling of tilt when on a bad run but I am also facing up to the fact that I am a losing player with leaks at DYMs.
Had an offline offer of help from RLT, someone who has been flying through the levels and shows what can be achieved with some hard work, discipline and volume.
I will be attempting to fix those leaks, however to start with it makes sense if building from a low bankroll to stick what I am good at.

Disappointed with the minus figure at PLO8. Although essentially breakeven which with rewards is profit. I suspect the minus is mainly down to a few shots at £5 and £11 which have skewed the overall P/L,
Confirms what I have felt (backed up by own periodic results keeping) that I am much better at 6 max than dyms. Or maybe the fields are much easier?
In general terms I am quite aggressive which is a plus in 6max generally but a hinderance in dyms until you get the bubble and even then it needs to be selective. Basically I bust too early too often in nlhe dyms where there is much risk but no guaranteed reward for busting/doubling up.
PLO8 at least means that "pulling the trigger" in early levels does not commit your entire stack.
So I will play the 10 and 12 freerolls today and wait for my bonus deposit.
When that comes I will play 55p 6max until I have £20 in the roll and will switch to £1.05/
I will also start playing PLO8 again from a roll of £20 as I do wish to complete the 1000 challenge.
I need to play 2x60p PLO dyms to complete Macacgirls triathalon.
I have entered the charity league HU cup so I will deposit enough to play that and keep that roll separate to my challenge roll.

Won 26p in the PLO FR and £1 in the Rewards FR - started to run golden from a shortstack after the bubble but was not to be closing in on the £2 payout and TT < KJ.
Overall then Challenge has gone from 1p to £7.63.
I have previously advocated Sky Vegas "no lose" weekends. A couple of people have pulled me up on the tables about that having lost by not stopping at the lose limit.
After the latest one, I was checking back on the site as I had seen it was "no lose" month so the implication was there would be other days. There was not another one on, however I was greeted with an "exclusive offer. Deposit £20 and play with £10.
I proceeded to get ahead, thought I would stop while ahead but found the playing restrictions were far greater than I thought. It seemed that the £20 deposit and the £10 bonus were both classed as bonus money with play restrictions. There was also a x20 wagering restriction - i.e. £600 needed to be wagered before any withdrawals could be made. I did, took me a while. I lost, the £10, the £20 and a little bit more besides.
A couple of polite email exchanges later and I received a call today and I was credited my £20 deposit as a goodwill gesture.
So the moral of the story is always read the T's and C's, then reread them and think about what they mean, before signing up for any offers.
So, for full disclosure my B/R is actually now £27.63.
I was going to deposit some to play in the TLB Cup which I don't need to now - I'll treat my "challenge" roll as £7.63 though.
Well 1 week gone and not bust yet.
Started with a penny which quickly became £5.07 from the previous week's reward.
Played 29 SNGs Staked £21.05 and managed to break exactly even.
Luckily those "rubbish Sky Freerolls" came to the rescue.
P3 Rewards FR min cashed each for £3 and won 26p in a Omaha FR.
So Challenge roll = £8.33
Site roll a bit higher, I P5 W2 of my HU league cup fixtures and cashed out the Sky Vegas credit less the £1.25 loss so my actual roll became my challenge roll. Until the weekend when there was another no lose offer on and I booked a £3 win having deposited £10.
Site roll at the end of week 1 was £21.33. Took me ages to find the bug in my spreadsheet and get that to balance.
50 pts earned so I get the FR entries again.
