    Busy day

Off to sort house out in an hour. So much to do and I'm hopeless at this sort of thing.

Then it's birthday parties for people of similar age to me. A 70th at dinner and then a 60th at tea. Might be a bit full.

    ...

Played for a little while last night. 3 mtts no good. 4 Dyms where I win 3 out of 4. Lost £4 in all.
    Pretty fascinating update yeah?

Got told off by a player in a dym. Never seen him before. With 6 left in the first level a player was all in. I bet and it was explained to me that in double up games the idea is to knock people out. I guess he meant we should check down.
I thanked him for explaining it all to me.

In Response to Re: Return of the Jac:
This one isn't as good. It's from me About 10 years ago when i first starting playing, nearly every competition was a rebuy. Some of these were just about unplayable, £5 / £10 buy ins with a 1000 starting stack. As you can  imagine half the table were all in every hand trying to build a stack. Others however were great value where for a relatively low buy in you could be playing for really decent sums of money. One such comp was at Gala Nottingham on a Thursday night. £50 buy in with one rebuy and one addon and a good clock. With around 100 regulary playing these and lets say on average the majority of the field taking either the rebuy or addon you were looking at a £10000 prize pool. Starting stack was 5000 which was big in those days and so 'proper'poker was played. I entered this comp one night a few months after starting to play and with a bit of good fortune i was going quite deep. With around 12 left i got it all in preflop with AK and probably a little relieved to be honest i saw the other guy had AK too. He then made the fatal mistake of immediately saying 'chop it up'. Obviously 4 card flush hit me and i now had the chip lead going into the final. Raj Dhiri, a good local player grabbed me as we were waiting for the final to begin. He told me in no uncertain terms to basically pass everything and i would make the top three and lock up a good win. I agreed and thanked him for the advice. The final begun and Raj had his head in his hands i was all in on the first hand! I had KK and raised and got reraised. Terrified off losing a huge hand right at the start, i just called. Flop was K high with no danger. Remember, i was new to the game. I could hardly breathe and panicked. ALL IN! He folded QQ face up and so i really made the most of my oppurtunity there! However, i had increased my stack and now i did follow Raj's advice and passed and passed and passed. Now down to three and there is a reg with a good sized chip lead and myself and Nick who li ke me was playing for his biggest win. This all leads us to THE WORST DEAL EVER!!! The payouts were roughly £3300 £2200 £1600 Nick and i begin to confer, we're both desperate not to finish 3rd. He suggests the other guy is obviously going to win and so why don't we give him the win and split 2nd and 3rd place. I obviously snap his hand off. Reg has stayed very quiet during the negotiations. We look at him pleadingly, will you accept this please sir? He thinks for a short while and says that, yes, he is prepared to do it but thinks it's only fair that myself and Nick do the decent thing and look after the waitresses with our winnings. We readily agree and are a little surprised as he jumps out of his chair and runs off giggling .

I do like stories of deals. I remember seeing a guy with a decent CL getting more than was allocated for first in a stars comp a couple of years back. Other players were happy locking up £ and no one had the balls to push back against the CL.

:) 1) Breakfast. 2) Lunch. 3) Dinner. Tea may be taken with all 3 meals.
Edit - I may have missed out meals in between which are "snacks"
    You're Welcome.

    Snacking between meals? How uncouth.

I've taken a stab in the dark that 'uncouth' is the right word.

OK, and end to this nonsense.
Posh people eat dinner of an evening time,
the rest of us eat dinner at lunch time,
or if we are trying to be posh we eat it at teatime.

All poker related post, may now continue.....

House all reserved and sorted. Hopefully will be ready for end of September.

Great meal at DINNER. Harry was a nightmare though. Rarely the case but he was proper grumpy after not much sleep.

Tea was poor. Not very hungry anyway and it was an eat all you can Chinese in Burton. If you think Derby is bad...
Fat people eating bad food and lots of it. They made hhyfdrtyr look anorexic.

Felt really bad leaving my Mum with the boy given the mood he was in. Hoped he would go to sleep early but it seems that wasn't the case. Unbeknown to my Mum he called the Police. Phone didn't go back on the hook so they couldn't get through to check that everything was ok. Car turned up and they ran down the drive. To make matters worse my Mum couldn't find the front door key. Harry was still awake when we got back.
Think i need to buy Mum some flowers.

Wasn't going to play, Just thought i'd rail day4eire, fatman and cpfc. Good runs by all of them and a profitable night all round.
Tikay inadvertently made me around £70 tonight. I saw the world famous WSOP serial casher was regged for a strange game and thought i'd join him. Got Jimi to come along as well. Table opened up and the master wasn't there. I cashed to my great surprise.
I noticed that there were some great line ups regged for £22 and £33 dyms so i thought i'd have a go. Just played the 8 but won 6 for a nice little profit for an hours work.

Off Monday and so may go Derby tomorrow night for the rebuy.

    Quit after 9 holes.
Bombed to casino to make the end of late reg.

It's about a month ago that I lost £750 at Derby

I won £250 back a couple of weeks ago and tonight it's £535 profit in the comp and £184.50 up at cash where I was golden.
    Pretty chuffed

@Jac Nice binkage - any hands worthy of note or did you just luckbox it?

hhyftrftdr - talking of the rail, started a new thread just for you.

    Just ran good really.
The games pretty easy when after 4 limpers you raise to £8 with JJ and get all 4 to call and then see a A J 5 rainbow flop.

In the tourney i actually made some decent folds early on and then later on when the blinds got high I was given a few gifts. There was some level 18 stuff which was fun. I remember a hand where the chipleader 5xed and the guy in 2nd place clicked it. Chipleader shoved and 3bettor said that he had to call. He had 96!

    Felt old the other night
Talking about Euro 96 and a lad said it was the year he was born.
Heard Rhythm is a Dancer this morning. 24 years ago that was number 1 in the Hit Parade
Sadly, Mrs Mangel died last week. 30 years ago she was in Neighbours. From Cleethorpes originally.

30 years ago the Mighty Rams were just about to begin their Divison 2 campaign where we would end up as Champions. Beat Dirty Leeds to ensure promotion

Love Graham Richards commentary. Incidentally I was Phil Gees boss for a while.

Then on the final day we beat Plymouth to win the league. Cracking goal from Bobby Davison who rarely scored from outside the 6 yard box
    ...

Watched Palace breaking hearts with 4 3 on the final table to win an mtt last night. He's pretty good that chap.
