It would be good if the window the table is in jumps to the front of the screen or maybe some kind of audio indicator when your attention is required at the table.

    Welcome to the forum Biffder

When you next open a table, check that you have your table sounds enabled by checking the options tab on the top left of the table screen.  At least the first two (enable sound & enable betting alerts) should be ticked, this means that every time its your turn a sound will play.  The third option (enable card, bet, chip sound) means you will hear every time another player makes a bet and whenever cards are dealt.  The volume control opens a slider to make all the table sounds louder or softer as required.

Once you have your required settings click on "Save my settings" which will mean that these same options will work every time you open a table.

    Hope this helps

I can't understand why you are not seeing new posts, I am on here most days and there are always new posts, especially in the Poker Clinic & General Chat.

Yeah, the only older ones really are the 'stickies' at the top of the individual forums. Other than that it's all new (?) Forum contents are obviously down to us members rather than Sky themselves, but I know that if I didn't visit for 24 hours then things would have moved on considerably! So not sure why you're seeing no change for months derk?

I should have checked the options tab first, this is making a world of difference to my game.

    Thanks Steve.

Stop people complaining about bad beats. It happens live and online. Also if people moan moan moan moan moan constantly about the site email them asking if they wish to close their account and if they keep moaning just kick them into touch.  GL all, hope you don't have too many bad beats ;D

Adding a column to the Cash Games lobby to show the average % of players seeing the flop (e.g. rolling average over the last 50 hands at the table) would help with table selection shortlisting. The average pot size gives good info on whether a table is aggressive or passive, but on its own doesn't indicate whether it's tight or loose.

This may have been suggested/rejected before - i've not waded through all 35 odd pages of posts. How about some housekeeping of posts that have been completed?

Time bank is MASSIVELY needed!!! This should be the first improvement to the site imo. You just don't have long enough at times on big decisions. Hand histories need improving aswel, but timebank should be first on the list as all the other sites have one and it is very much needed at times. Maybe have the timebank for tourneys at 60 seconds but don't reset it back to 60 seconds after any time is used. So once you have used your 60 seconds for the tourney you don't have any more????

get rid of rebuys on £2.30 BH tournaments. the get weird enough play without the rebuy, just think how crazy the play would get when you can push 23o and just rebuy when you lose. bad decision skypoker.
    Posted by chopsuey
Another worry with the rebuys is that if a player is stacked, the table is halted while he makes his mind up and or rebuys. Meanwhile the time is ticking away for the blinds. I have been caught by this when in the bb and stack getting low. If i get blinded with garbage his rebuy has cost me chips

Is there any way you can view your stats for an individual Cash table session, STT or MTT,
in your history, post event, the same way you can view all the hands played during a session.
Also can you view your Manhattan of an MTT the way shown on SkyPoker channel 865.

I have a suggestion. At my local casino, they have a sit 'n' go table called R.O.E. It stands for 'Round of Each'. I'm not sure if its common but its one round of Texas then one round of Omaha. And so on... Its very cool and it'd be great to be able to play that on this site. I love playing both and I sometimes struggle deciding which one to play. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Happy Pokering....

i have recently joijoined sky and really enjoy playing on sky poker, although there are many disadvantages of playing on sky which i think need correcting, the main thing is that sky poker is overdoing the rake especially seen as they offer no rake back programme. This is most notable when playing short handed for example heads up play is raked at £1, where as it is pretty much industry standard at $0.5, similar is at 3 handed when sky rakes £1.80 and the arverage is only $1. Anyone who plays a lot lot short handed or espially heads up will notice the rake eating into your stack. This is particularly frustrating as it feels you are being punished for starting up new tables, when this is surlely on benificail to skypoker, some sites even of bonuses (extra bonuspoints) for starting new tables!!!!
Also a few higher buy-in tourneys especially during the day.
Also don't know what use the vip points have apart from tracking bonuses, it says in the FAQ sectrions you can use them to buy in to tounreys, but have never seen a tourney where you can buyin for points.

In Response to Re: What improvements would you make to the site? : I'm concerned to hear this oynutter and can I assure you the last thing Sky Poker wants is to give our players a bad experience or to lose your business.  I will look into this specific issue you have mentioned and give you a call tomorrow to find out a bit more about your pc and browser settings.  A download poker application is very much part of our thinking and we are working on the development of it at the moment.  When we have a launch date, we'll let you and the community know asap. In the meantime I do apologise for your bad experience and can assure you we are looking into it. Regards, Des.

I totally agree with this comment. I never play on sky poker because the browser based software is too unreliable, can't full screen window properly and the alert sounds are poor. I will say that this is my only issue sky poker as i watch the sky poker channel alot. There seems to be a good community spirit to the site and sky poker in general and I would love to participate in this but in comparison to other sites software, I find sky pokers comparitively unusable. I have tried many times to play here but always find myself returning to other sites for this reason. Please Sky Poker sort the software issue out, make it as good as other sites and I will happily give you my patronage. On everything else keep up the good work!

Hi Cornerboy, and welcome to the forum.

With regard to the sounds, have you tried using the volume slider which is under the "Options" Tab when you open a poker table.  I seem to remember that the default setting is to the left, ie very soft but if you slide it to the right the volume will increase.  Once you have it to the level you want then hit save and it will stay that way.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Steve i'll try that but to be fair I was aiming more at the sounds other sites alert you with when it is your turn to play think this was mentioned in an earlier post. If this has been fixed since the last time I played I apologise. Wouls really like to see downloadable software on a par with other sites as mentioned though.
Again, appreciate the reply though :)

When you go to the table options there are 3 boxes at the top, the top one turns the sounds on, the second one give you betting alert, ie its your turn to act, the bottom one gives you card dealing sound and tells you when other players bet.  Personally I have the top two boxes ticked, so it alerts me when its my turn.  Having the third box ticked gets a little noisy and confusing when you have multiple tables open.

Again remember to click "Save My Settings" as this will keep the same options every time you open a table.

I hope this helps to improve your enjoyment of playing on this site.

    Steve

PS Hopefully the downloadable software isn't too far off as I understand a lot of players are clambering for it.

The download client was showcased at the SPT Swansea, unfortunately I was busy playing a game so never got to see it first hand.  From what I was told it looks exactly like the existing interface but obviously not web based and much much quicker.

Please restrict the chat option to players in the room only. Too many watchers chat during the game or join the wait queue to chat to their friends

Make it 10 player tables and  allow for a game of poker instead of shootouts.6 player tables  are boring and gives you a false sense of security on the game of poker.I always thought in poker tournaments such as mtt's just about every tournament live/online are 10 player tables. This 6 player stuff is so outdated now.Come on Sky Poker get into the 21st  century.Too many stupid gimmicks  are attached to the tables too.The chat box  is awful for sending messages  as they don't get shown proper most times, letters missing. You always have to go to options  to check mark the  dealer/player/ sounds  whenever a new table opens instead of this choice being automatic  when you have  checked the boxes. The all site  needs a major  revamp.

more guaranteed prize pool tourneys would be a good idea with a few of them being deepstack tourney's with the  buy-ins something like £10+£1. Also a time-bank i think would be good for the big decisions maybe a 90 second bank to be used through-out  tourney if you use 20 seconds for a decision the next time you need it  there would only be 70 seconds left

I always ignore the abusers and smile as I think while there doing that their mind is not fully on their game.
they usually get stacked sooner or later.

I think it should be possible to change your player name ,i spoke to customer care about this and was told that there is no way it can be done . I even said i would shut down my account and re-open it straight away if that was only way to change my name , but i was told that Sky do not allow this which i found a bit odd . Im not saying you should be allowed to change every few days or weeks but you should be able to change it once .
I would like to hear from somebody from Sky say Sky Rich or Sky Dave so that i can fully understand there reasons for not allowing this name change just the once . Thank you .

A few people have had thier name changed chew--- so it's not impossible if you have a good enough reason, try sending Rich a pm about it--- mind you-- I can't really see how you would have a good enough reason--- the last person that I know had a name change was Kunster---lol

Thank you nutter and i thought my name was bad enough, but after reading your post i think i might just leave well alone LOL . But thank you anyway .

I would sort out the connection for the site!!!! Nothing worse than getting punted from the table and told, "you're not connected!"
  • edited August 2010
i would like to see there be a limet on the times you can sitout just sitting there waiting for others to knock each other out that not playing the game if you had a set amount of sitouts it would be fair for everbody

This has probably been said but Sky poker really has to up the tables in tournaments to 10 players......6 handed is not how poker is played around the world in casinos....so Sky should match it.

Also the tournaments seem to be very flat these days with hardly any players buying in....& plenty of no entries...More lower stakes tournaments ...£1 - £3 with higher guarantees will get more people playing. Even the night time games (£5.50 ) buy ins have went down from 1k guaranteed to only £500...with less people buying in.....sort it out sky for the good of the site or more people will defect to the other sites with high guarantees & low buy ins....oh & better software!!!
  • edited August 2010
tbh i play here because i like 6 handed tables but wouldn mind a mix of 6 and 9 handed tables as for the lower buy ins all that will do is atract alot of fish who like to play bingo poker (hence y i left other sites) but in fairness the standard of play here imo is much better so maybe higher guarantees wud e a good idea
  • edited August 2010
There are some 10 seater games around 7.00 most nights(see Acebarrys posts in the tournament section), when they first started they had quite large fields but now they are lucky to get into double figures.  I think most players on this site prefer the 6 handed tables, which in my opinion gives this site its uniqueness, and I for one wouldn't like to see it become like all the other sites.

As for the guarantees, these were reduced because there weren't enough players in the games to cover the original money given by Sky.  Hopefully as more players get involved in the games the guarantees will once again increase.

for me i would like to see more freerolls and tournaments for use of ur poker points. also i would like different game variation as my fav is omaha and their just isn't enough of them. wat i would really like are more tables of 10 players. i originally played ladbrokes ages ago and the 10 player tables were more competative. the main thing for me is a time bank as sometimes u get into a tough position and before u know it the bars near the end and u hav to hurry ur decision which is usually a wrong one.

also i wish in these august freerolls and others to come that people who are away for more than 10 minutes are eliminated becasue that ruins the game.
