Beating the Unbeatable - A Quest

edited July 2012 in Poker Chat
i have been toying with the idea of starting a diary for a while now and ive finally talked myself into it. theres a few reasons behind my decision to do this.

some may ask why now, well i have free time again thru the lack of work. ive had a couple fall thru at last min in recent weeks and with nothing on the horizon at the moment i need something to focus on inbetween job searching.

im not in this to move up the levels, well not just now anyway as theres a few things stopping me from feeling entirely comfortable at the minute. these mainly being the money values involved playing higher and the lack of a semi competent pc system. i want to rectify the 2nd issue before dealing with the 1st.

ive been successful in the past at nl4 and i want to continue that trend thru this.

im going to be redepositing £100 of previous months winnings some time today to start me off. i will start playing once it becomes the month of june. i am not setting any profit targets over any time period as i feel that puts too much pressure. i just want to build on what ive done before and hopefully be able to cream some off to invest in a decent machine at some point before tackling the nxt step up the poker ladder.

because im used to playing alot the only real target im setting is to hit the 4000 point mark thru c4p, ive done it before and it wasnt easy but this figure may change as the month goes to nearer 3500.

i will try to update my progress on a day by day basis.

i know some will say "oh no not another micro stakes diary" but its more about self motivation for me.

anyway heres to running good and to whoever reads gl at the tables to you

Good luck in the Quest Tintin,

Hope you find time to keep things updated with all those games you hope to play,
How many tables will you play at a time?
And will you stick purely to cash?

    Look forward to reading more

@IDCU @woogie i stick to cash, i have played tourneys before but that was a few year ago, and im just rotten at then now, this fact has been highlighted in my spewy attempts ive had at the £110 sky rollers ive qualified for free into thru the league stars freeroll. i play 6 tables at nl4 at any one time. i could play more but computer issues does prevent me from trying.

@don90 thanks for your kind words. i'll be on a lot but between 2am-10am i wont be making many appearences lol. should sky run their happy hours this bank holiday weekend then i will be on more than normally

    Excellent. Good luck Mr Tin.

Today's useless fact. I'm sure that back in the day there used to be a TV Series about a clever dog, called Tin Tin.

Good luck with the Diary, and at the tables.

Very pleased you've decided to do this.

I'm sure Scotty will also be pleased to see the creation of this thread, it'll stop him having to regress 10 levels to prove nl4 is beatable!

    Good Luck.

Donk this guy completely crushes 4NL and will prove it here. Guaranteed he will have losing sessions like we all do, but you're gonna see how to crush the 'bingo players'.

i'll start by thanking all who have read and posted good luck messages, i even got a reply from tikay so i guess thats a stamp of approval.

im not sure how this diary will progress, im not one for posting too many hands but if i play something bizzare i will certainly dig it out and believe me ive played a few.

IDCU you make some valid points, theres day where break even can be a good result and even days where a marginal loss is as good as a win. im going to be honest about results and hopefully be more honest about my own play. ive opened myself up to be shot down if things go wrong.

ive done this before privatley where most months i start at £50 and spin it up but because ive started this i wanted a little leeway br wise to not be under too much pressure. i could actually do with bumping into my favourite fish in the nxt few days (rancid, you know who he is lol)

    anyways roll on midnight

yeah its not easy, gotta average about 135 points a day. most days i'll earn about 150 which equates to around 11 hours 6 tabling. my best day i got around 190. its easier to keep playing when things are going well not so much when things are against you. got to make full use of the happy hours, even tho the points are minimal the boost is valuable

How long are your sessions? Do you have breaks within longer sessions or a series of shorter sessions with longer breaks?
  • edited May 2012
Good luck with this TinTin, looks like a really interesting one this.

a typical day would see me play from just before 11am thru to just after 2pm with maybe 5 mins or so halfway thru. then from about 5:30 thru to midnight, this session i usually find a half hour break somewhere but the time varies, anytime from 7 to 9:30 for a short break. another short break once happy hour finishes then i have another hour or so. this isnt set in stone, if things are going badly i will shut down the tables and take 20 mins or so because i can do more damge than good trying to stick to certain times

i think the longest ive played with only a toilet stop or going to get a drink is about 6 hours

ive always been a nightowl so find it hard dozing off at nights, this has been the case long before i started playing poker. even when i was working and starting at 6am i was still awake gone midnight

Sounds like i know where im going wrong in regards to this. I used to grind throughout the night which i prefered on another site but i tried this on sky and between maintenece upgrades and low traffic during the night i found it a nightmare unless you where willing to play multiple levels.
