Mrs J went quad biking up north today. I had the boy for the day on my own for the first time. Obviously I invited my Mum to spend the day with us. Had a good time. Went brunching (eggs benedict back on form). Snazzy new hair cut ready for the UKPC.

For this month I've decided to hit the dyms hard again. I've been struggling recently and so think a return to a game I'm comfortable with is a good idea.
It's gone pretty well so far and I've made a few quid at them. Rake is always decent when you grind the £20's and £30's too and I'm up to over 1200 points for the month so far.

I played the roller tonight. A bit gutted earlier when I bust the sat. I had AK v AJ to be close to a lock but the hand didn't quite go to plan.
I then decided to buy in and to be perfectly honest was a bit rubbish. Had a very odd hand early on. A player who had only 1000 chips left raised and I isolated with 10's. The sb flatted. Original raiser shoves and I 5 bet to get him heads up. SB 6 bet shoves and although it didn't make much sense I decided to fold. Sb had 88! They hit a set and so a bit of an escape. Good job I hadn't scoped them at that stage. £19,000 down on SKY.

After that I just didn't ever get going. Super aggressive table and I couldn't find any hands/spots. Got too low which is something I hate doing and was eventually put out of my misery when I got it in pre and although I hit top pair was outkicked.

    ...

A guy in the dyms is giving me a rough ride at the minute. Not really sure why. I'm either a cheat or a bad player apparently. Well, I'm not a cheat...

Thought I was only £18,000 down on Sky? :(

Keep this run good up please, I've already spent my/your winnings* so no pressure and all that.

*kinda true.....I'm booked up for Vegas again next month. Double no pressure :)

Had another bash at the Dyms tonight. Had a grim start and was down around £170 very quickly. I got into a rather annoying habit of 3bet shoving on players holding aces. This led to my friend from last night starting off again about how bad I am. Was a bit frustrating to lose to his aces twice and then when he shoves on the bubble and I have them, he makes trips. Final one of a bad period was when we got it in with AQ and 77. I hit the Ace and then he hits a set on the river.

Really don't understand the chat coming from him. He's a good player which makes it stranger. Doesn't do it with anyone else. Generally at the higher levels the games are friendly. It's the same pool of regs and we pretty much all get on well. I assume he's just trying to get under my skin. It's working to be fair, I'm annoyed, but it certainly doesn't change how I play which I guess is the real reason for it.

I was really pleased with how I dealt with the runbad early on. Something I've struggled with recently for some reason. Tonight I just looked at it in the correct way. When you've played as many of these games as I have you just have to accept that from time to time we'll have bad runs.  It'll even out in the end if we carry on doing the right things.

Sure enough I grinded through it and I dealt a few beats of my own. I won 11 of the last 13 which got me into profit for the day and another 350+ rakeback points for the day.
    ..

Played 3 mtts tonight. I thought I'd play the megastack as on Saturday we'll be sitting deep. Managed 6th which was good considering Maxally was on my table. He arrived with about 2 bigs and then got either Aces or Kings 24 times. I helped him out by doubling him up on 19 of those occasions.

I was playing the Main at the same time, but all my good cards came in the megastack. I would have loved to install that button that some of these regs have got that would swap hole cards over on tables. Some of the chosen few have even got a upgraded button which allow them to exchange hole cards after the flop has been dealt!

    Good game last night.

Mtt confidence is sky high, can't wait for Saturday. Went out main and mini in 10 mins flat! Urgh
Flopped a fullhouse in the main with 88 on 998, busto
Couldn't hold v flush draw in mini, busto
Played a sat for the £55 and didn't make a flush, busto
Played a few Dyms and tried to bluff Evilpingu of his flopped full house, didn't work.

    Won a few after that.
Saw lambert was Billy no mates on a cash table. Popped into see him for a chat. Other guy sits in and so thought I better play for a few mins. Bust him, he left and so sat out and had a chat with lambert*. Dull as dishwater that boy but still glad I dropped by. Quite profitable.

Down about £2.17. Add rakeback and think I'm about £0.24 up. Booking the win as Ian might say.

    Going pub
    ..
It would be good to see Paul back on the forum more. Top bloke

Second that - more forum or at least more regular blog posts!

Good luck with the UKPC, way out of my price range so will have to rail by having people like you in my forum fantasy team.

ps hope you and other Derby fans are enjoying the latest Forest side show :/
pps found out a couple of nights ago that Forest is a banned word in the chatbox... is that to do with Tikay being a Derby man?

I'm only playing the mini. I think the forum fantasy team is for the main only.
    ..
To be honest I have no great dislike of Forest. I don't take any pleasure in saying I think you've got big problems with your present chairman. Do you think Pearce will be manager for the opening game?
It could be worse mate. I have a friend who is a Palace supporter. He's somehow been brainwashed into thinking his team, managed by Tony Pulis, play attractive football!
    ..
Tikay is a bit of a turncoat actually. Claims to be from Ilkeston but supports The Bees. How does  that happen?
    ...
Don't want to rub it in as you've just sold your two best players but....
We just got ourselves a Real Madrid man for the season :)

Well I come from London originally.

Down there there we are loyal to our teams. And we don't have any interest in these minor provincial outfits like Forest & Derby.

Leicester, yes - they are in the Premier League, see?

Shame Derby never made the play-offs last season, they would have been a shoo-in.
  • edited August 2014

Oh, wait, they DID make the play-offs.

    Apologies for the rub.

I guess i'm not needed to annoy Paul when Tikay's around.

    Hi boutime

I understand that the game can be frustrating at times. I don't agree with you, I don't agree that it's iffy.
Entirely your choice though and if you don't feel you can trust the system then maybe best if you stick to live play.

    Good luck

Why is it that the people who complain about online poker being rigged/fixed/etc, can never do so in a grammatically coherent manner?

Seriously - what is happening to the level of education in this country?

I'm not surprised you are unaware of our playing style seeing we didn't play you last season and we wont be playing this season either. Why's that Mr Mardy?

    Fun day at the mini

I found myself down to 13000 last hand before the 2nd break. Shoved my 13 bigs utg and was delighted to see call, 3bet, 4bet,5bet,6bet etc.
Up against Aces and 9's it was never in doubt that I'd treble up with my KQ.

From there things went rather well and I got to a high of 290,000. In the last couple of levels I lost a bit if a smelly one where the table big stack who was playing every pot and playing very well got there on the river for a 200k pot.

Won a couple of pots to get back a bit and despite my woeful limitations bagged up 235,000. It's well below average but going back at 3000/6000 there's still a fair bit of play in it.

Had a good day. Shared a table with Minty who is a lovely guy. Ran pretty well against him. Over bet shoved with 6high playing the board at one stage and was a little relieved when he passed. Called his shove with 6's and was in pretty good shape against his 5's. Flopped the set and he actually had gained more outs! But luckily I held.

Key hand of the day was 3betting QQ out of the bb and getting it in on 2 3 6. He had Ace 4 with the straight flush draw. Turned the Q and the river bricked, which was nice.

Not quite an SPT but still met up with plenty of Sky folks and as ever it's nice to put faces to names.

    Looking forward to tomorrow.
    Bedtime

Well done yesterday Paul, great effort after that early setback.

LOVE to see folks who don't give up, or try to blame the world & his wife, when things go wrong.

    Good luck today.

    Busto unfortunately.
    Cashed for £500 in 55th
5 short of the £1k seat. Guess that's just not meant to be.  A number of times I've come close to a seat for that.
Not to worry though. Had a great time.  Loved every minute of it.
Gl to Slklist, Ivan and Ryan who I think are still in.

Exit hand I think was pretty standard.

I jammed 135,000 from the small blind at 6000/12000 with 2k running ante.
    Had K6.
It gets through plenty of times and even when called prob still got 40%
He had Ace 10 and I didn't improve.

Great tournament and thanks to Adam,  John and Gazza for the 10%'s. So pleased you've doubled your money.  Sorry it wasn't a little more
