Thought i'd give an update about how things have been going recently, less posting more playing at the moment but i do like to look back through this as the months go by so definetly want to try and update it every so often.
I decided not to bother with the cash promo this time around, for two reasons my motivation to mass multitable 10nl with a few of the same nitty regs just dissapeared completly i realised i was literally just pushing buttons when i was playing and not really enjoying it, the last promo i think the novelty of multitabling on a monitor meant i saw it through and found some big grinds but i just didn't feel it this time, so have been playing the odd game on 20nl mastercash as a break from hu and trying to enjoy myself when i play cash and actually play the game, rather than being a robot against the same 3-4 guys on aload of tables.
I have been on a pretty sick heater HU recently, probably my best ever spell, notably helped by a few meetings with my two favourite regs at £21 hypers who have quickly climbed to the top of my most profitable opponents on scope ( mainly have been table selecting against specific oppos than actually grinding them). That is another reason i have stuck to HU recently, i feel like i'm playing consistently well at the moment and have been playing a mix of £5.25 turbos, £5.25 hypers, £10.25 and £21 hypers. I have carried on tracking every hu game/ cash session and mtt i play, mtt is the only format i havnt had any success in. I have been really frustrated with mtts recently as i get to a vital point get my chips in good and can't seem to hold, i know i'm getting the chips in good so just need to be patient but when you don't play alot of mtts it can be hard to deal with it happening constantly when you do, i.e. tonight in mini primo AA v j10 on 10 high flop in 3bet pot we get it in they turn two pair, qs against js aipf for really big stack in £11 bh the other night they flop J and last night i managed to sat into the £55 from a micro 3bet aqs on button get called by k4hearts they lead for pot on A high flop get it in they have a draw and get there on river. I'm well aware these are completely standard, its just in cash or hu i get so much volume in i can shake it off, with mtt's i find myself doubting whether i'm doing the right thing alot, but hopefully i'll get a decent win soon.
So at the moment i don't have any set targets, would be nice to sneak into the leaderboard for sngs but thats probably a bit of a way off atm, got my scope up to its highest point for HU so will just be trying to keep that on course, going to carry on playing 20nl here and there between hu and hopefully i'll catch a break in an mtt soon. Move back home next week, going bennicassim mid july and then it's time to sort everything and get a job have already applied for something hopefully will at least get an interview but going to be an interesting next few months and hopefully poker will continue to provide me with a nice bit of money on the side. Have withdrawn alot of the profit i have made since i started tracking for various reasons, eventually i'll get round to just letting my roll grow so i can think about playing higher but for the moment i'm more than content with the games i'm playing, it's less than a year ago i knew nothing about brm, donked around and wasn't really going anywhere with poker so i'm very happy that things are continuing to go well.

Sick heater at HU - wish I could catch one of them
And be patient with MTT's - you will catch your break!! But when you don't play too many of them it is soooo annoying to play for few hours and get it way ahead and still loose - trust me - I know!!!!
Look forward to hearing how you get on with this and will keep up with your progress.
Your learning/ studying has paid dividends literally. I've been really impressed anytime we have played and you will crush these as you have done in the past.
Pretty decent aswell, your profits have enabled you to do things you otherwise wouldnt have been able to do/ buy.
Good to hear you had some fun at the festival, hope there was a lot of senuriatas to help out with the fun
As someone who is looking to get into heads up some time I will be interestingly keeping up to date with this diary, good luck mate im sure your crush.
Just dug this thread out of the blackhole of the sky poker forums having decided it's time to start regularly writing about my poker again!
Just reading through it's funny how when i started this thread i had no real idea about expected winrates, nash charts, not sure i even knew what people meant when they spoke about EV yet i crushed turbos at 5.25 level over a very decent sample. In order to progress at HUSNG by learning from better players, watching videos and reading i pretty much had to become familiar with all of the different complex information, however it is interesting as it has made me think about how important a natural sense/instinct is in relation to how mathematically sound your game is.
Normally a diary start would be post a massive bink to brag or post a massive downswing to try stem the tide.. however i'm going to buck the trend, everything has been pretty average recently and having played alot this year and met a few different targets i felt like it would be a good time to set myself a goal profit wise whilst hopefully interacting with the community again. I currently have £1050 (100bi for £10.50 hu) in my account and want to spin that up to £2050 resisting the urge to withdraw/ play higher/donk off 200bb on 50nl m/c because i crave some action. I know i can beat the games i play, they are very swingy and i've got so much better at dealing with 10-20bi downswings which will hopefully reflect in my posts whilst making for interesting reading.
Have played alot today so first update will be post any session tomorrow.
Thanks mate, not quite a dynamo yet but hopefully i will be in a year or two!
Not entirely sure what attracted me to heads up, i like playing any poker at first, I used to donk around on 10nl cash alot with mates and when one of them lost a stack they used to say they were going to play some Heads Up to make the buyin and be back in a bit, so i think i decided to try the same once and then just enjoyed the constant action and being able to hone in on one players tendencies (another word if you said to me when i first started playing hu i'd of looked at you blankly before bemoaning my horrid bad beat of something like a9 vs kq)
Toughest player is hard, alot of the really profitable regs i havn't bumped into much because they play higher than me (bawfizzle, nutter, kaelipi). I always found playing VIC212 tough back when i grinded turbos and would occasionally bump into him. Now i play hypers as my main game Alvez is a tough oppo at hypers as he has clearly done loads of work on his game and also puts in huge volume. I think it's hard to pinpoint a specific player as short term you can feel like you are getting owned by any player HU.
Biggest breakthrough moment was probably realising how important aggression is, you can't be a winning hu poker player if you are tight/passive. Also i think having a support network/ group of friends to chat about the game, anything from a specific hand to just unloading about bad beats has been hugely influential on the volume and profit i have achieved this year.
Right first days update, only managed to get in 32 games today which considering i'm off work for easter break is pretty poor by my standards but had couple of things to do then played tennis and football this evening so decided to end the grind early as i'm feeling a bit tired. I mainly 1 tabled today with a bit of two tabling mid first session, ran well and managed a 10 game streak which i havn't done in a while, i was breaking even after 16 games just went on a heater and made some nice profit.

Got a good weekend lined up off to see West Ham play palace on Saturday , tomorrow night a few drinks with some mates and maybe a trip to aspers if it can be squeezed in, only went for the first time the other night and i loved it was a bit tense as 1/1 is way above cash stakes i had played in the past and i had also never been to a casino but was good fun, need to make the most of next few days as back to the work grind tuesday.
As a Heads up player it's pretty standard to get the odd bit of chatbox abuse so i thought to add a bit of interest to the diary i would have a segment of the best abuse of the day and add it to the diary when i get a fair amount, obviously when heatering your bound to take some abuse right?..
Player 1:why can the best hand not win just once

Not alot of poker been played the last few days, back to work tomorrow so have tried to make the most of the last few days before slipping back into normal routine. I went to the West Ham game saturday which was truly abysmal, I have been supportive of Allardyce and he has done a good job but some of the performances this season have been beyond atrocious with the lack of a plan B when lumping it up to carroll doesn't work being the most concerning thing. The fans are quickly running out of patience with the football, however i don't think the owners will gamble with sacking him with only a couple of years untill the stadium move, will be interesting to see what will happen if the fans properly turn on him though.
Anyway as i was staying at my brothers in stratford after the game a mate decided to drive up and go aspers with me, managed to make a small profit and feel alot more comfortable playing live now. I had never played alot of live cash so have quickly tried to adapt to what i think is best way to play, raise sizes have to be pretty huge if you don't want a pot to go multiway and it's interesting how light people will stack off . Quite early on with a couple of limps in front i limped with k2s flop the nuts and get paid which was nice, towards the end of the night there was an interesting hand where a player had just joined the table 3bet a v-tight guy flop comes kqx rainbow and the guy just open jams the flop she tanked for ages then called turn 4 river 4 and she has AA and wins, i ending up discussing the hand with her and was pretty impressed she tanked as most players would just snap having just joined the table. I had seen him do it twice previously and have it and during the hand actually thought to myself what i would do with AA in that spot, came to conclusion i was only beating AK and that was unlikely if we are sitting with AA so actually ends up being pretty easy fold against his range assuming he doesn't ship J10, we are facing KK QQ, KQ, AK so just absolutely crushed.
Anyway back to hypers, i've started pretty well hoping to get a few games in tonight, might record a couple of games and post it up get some feedback/opinions on hands etc. The figures will not match up with the balance now as i played some all in sats to the main last night.
Total Games played: 54 (£10.50 hu hypers) Profit/Loss: +£133
Decent run in the ukpc freeroll came 40th or something i think not really going to be looking at playing any sats for that, enjoyed jacs spt thread, hopefully in the future an event like that will happen as i'd be mucn more interested in attending that and putting faces to the names i've played agains for a while now. On the wrong side of variance tonight in HU all pretty standard just cudn't hold if i got it in good or i would run intot he top end of oppo's range, swings and roundabouts in hypers though can't have a 10bi+ streak of positive variance than moan when i have a -9bi swing just the nature of these games. Back to work in the morning and football in the evening but hopefully get a few games in.

Managed to get 42 games in post work today was up and down 4buyins at different points in the session but ended up breaking even, gad a few games against garyqqq who i havn't really played much before and a reg who i love playing was in beast mode against me in all ins which was probably the difference between breakeven and being in profit today. Not going to ramble on as pretty tired as i've just got back from football, got a couple of hand ID's to post.

This hand was against a good reg, i like to adapt how i play and constantly be flexible so he doesn't get any specific reads, i flop huge here and check as i know he will never think i've checked back an A in this hand and he is capable of a hero call, he duly obliges even typed in i'm going to hero call you here. This hand is just an example of how player dependent the way i decide to play a hand can be, against the previous reg i probably just pot every street as they are not thinking about my two cards only there own, whereas this is an example of thinking about what range they think we are minraising then checking bac the flop and jamming the river with its basically nuts/bluff and there is not too many nutty hands in my percieved range.
Got a decent 66 game session in today split in half, mainly two tabling. Favourite reg managed to beast me in all ins again didn't feel like i was running particularly well today came up against some v-high variance random players tonight and just cudn't hold, did manage to end the session in profit of 2.67bi with a late streak so am happy with how the hu grind went for the day. Fancied playing the £5.50 £200 Guarenteed at 7.30 tonight and managed a 3rd in that for £30ish, it's an mtt i tend to play a fair amount as a couple of friends and myself have done pretty well in it combined, the field always seems to be fairly soft.

And just an example of spew, me playing 46s as badly as possible.
First week of the challenge over, pretty happy with the progress so far volume isn't quite where i'd want it to be but now i'm back to normal work routine it should increase. Today i decided to try and 3-4 table for the majority of the session, i had done this alot during the priority grind the month before and am fairly comfortable at 4 now decisions are normally quite straight forward in hypers. The session went well, felt like i was in a flow and wasn't finding many decisions difficult had a few different opponents today which was good as sometimes it seems like there isn't a varied player pool so hopefully sky is growing attracting more players, a hu promo would be nice at some point.
Will take a look through some hands in a minute see if any worth posting. Just watching the live stream of the £250k min buyin cash game in monaco. Cates, Haxton, Ivey, Antonius pretty epic lineup.
Total Hu Games played: 235 (£10.50 hu hypers) Profit/Loss: +£152 Roi:6.2%
Quick skim through hands, not really anything worthy of posting just aload of standard hands. This one is only one that is pretty interesting and worthy of discussion, pretty heroic call so many missed draws flush/straight, no history with this oppo but pretty impressive as if you put the hand together i turn up with a bluff so much here, any qx pairs from AA-JJ is probably b/f river small with the 10 falling on the river, also not value jamming an 8 and unlikely i am turning 3 into a 3 barrel bluff, my range is made up really of 10x, missed draws and complete air, so a pair actually beats the majority of a constructed range i wll show up with. It's easy to barrell of like this and just pass it off as a donk call, but when you actually analyse it in detail it's a bad spot to bluff and a v-good call.
Didn't manage to get too many games in tonight, decided to play the £5.50 £200 guarenteed and went out to a pretty horrid hand whih set the tone for variance being pretty unkind to me for the rest of the evening. Felt pretty tired so mainly 1 tabled tonight, one positive from the session was hitting the 5k point mark which will be a boost to the challenge and considering how much of a lax volume this month has been is pretty pleasing think i will be aiming for prio next month again. Played a 21 tonight after winning 2 in a row against a player i havn't seen in ages but is high on my all time profit list so cudn't resit, took it down but a 6 game losing streak at the end of the session just wiped out any chance of breaking even/making profit. Having a weekend off drinking/ doing anything that involves spending alot of money so hopefully get a good grind in tomorrow.

Least i got one hand right tonight, notes said snap, gameflow felt like he would always have it went with notes especially with the board runout probably a snap against av player as well. Something i have encorporated into my game more since playing hypers is balancing between cbetting and just checking back with Ahigh Khigh hands when i miss the flop, so often people will take a stab on turn or river like this hand and can gain some value from these hands still..
Well today has been interesting, Hu started with a nice streeak of wins and with no real plans for the day/evening i decided to grind some sats to the primo, managed two seconds for a couple of nice cashes in the £6 direct and busted another couple but had an overiding feeling that i would eventually get there so ploughed on and got through a £12 supersat so with the cashes i had made. The tournament started badly, managed to lose aload of chips whhen i had a monster draw missed the river and bluffed but then next hand table fish paid me off on A high board with qq when i was holding AJ and was back in it. I was short stacked for ages from there but survived to the bubble and then started to chip up, binked aj v aq ainpf to with 7 left and eventually went out in 5th KK-AA although having won that huge aj hand which laddered me up a couple of places i was incredibly happy with the result, cashed for £660 for a tournament i was essentially freerolling with how the sats went. Managed a £100 day hu as well so all in all a really good day.

Good luck with your new challenge
As someone who is looking to get into heads up some time I will be interestingly keeping up to date with this diary, good luck mate im sure your crush.
My all time HU graph:
Weclome back, you'll be at £2050 in no time, all the best with it.
A few questions,
What was it attracted you to HU Sit and Go's as preferred format?
Who do you feel is the toughest opponent you have played in all your time playing HU Sit and Go's.
What do you think was your biggest breakthrough moment in achieving sucess at HU sit and Go's.

Player 1: why can the best hand not win just once
: u **** fish
: die (bit extreme for winning a 40/60??)
Player 2: mug
: gonna bully me now yh
: go all in again
: i know ur gonna
: tool
: do it all day if u want
benc: ok
: ugly (insulting my avatar, a rare one!)
Player 3: Ive had AA KK 10 10 (Maybe if you didn't 4x better hands i would of been tempted..)
: and you fold to all
: then 99 you have AA
21:46 rigged (My favourite people think a site is rigged yet still gamble money on the site)
: so sick
21:47: all night its crazy
: dominating every game
benc: lol you jammed q6o first level last game (Cudn't resist that one)

My favourite reg: he does occasionally get lucky as you can see, but it keeps him coming back so i don't mind.. i know my donkjam is pretty bad but i know he is always calling with any 1 card draw, flush draw etc etc k high just about his entire range lol

Few hands just to sum up the life of a hyper player..
Hadn't 5xed once in our games then this happened..
x
Was pretty pleased my read with this hand was right, ignoring the result.
And just an example of spew, me playing 46s as badly as possible.
Will take a look through some hands in a minute see if any worth posting. Just watching the live stream of the £250k min buyin cash game in monaco. Cates, Haxton, Ivey, Antonius pretty epic lineup.

This player is a good winning reg, my turn jam looks bluffy and he said he put me on AK just a horrid river after the chips go in.
Snapshot of how i ran when all the chips went in this evening..
Questionable flat pre probably deserves this run out, felt like player would never give me credit on that flop but just knew when the turn came i was dead
The mtt win has been withdrawn, currently in the process of sorting out travelling and that will pretty much cover the initial flights that i will be booking as soon as possible. The win will not be included in the challenge to get to £2050.

ps: check out the sit and go strategy thread in the forum, larson posted a hand and there is some great feedback from Teddybloat and Wason who is a really good hu reg.
