Sky Poker forums will be temporarily unavailable from 11pm Wednesday July 25th.
Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Good morning.
With or without the Viva, the 2013 WSOP started yesterdasy, so I hope everyone will contribute to this thread, with daily results, interesting stories & snippets from the greatest poker series in the world, bar none.
Please do NOT cut & paste stuff from the Offical sites, as the rights are owned - at huge cost - by a private organisation, & the WSOP jealously guards those rights, so just be a little creative when taking stuff from them please.

Event # 1 began yesterday, the Casino Employeees jobbie.
898 runners, of which 112 remained heading into the last level of the day. (They are still playing).
Current chippe is Hiue Le.
Does anyone care about the Employees Event? Nah.
Move on.
Event # 2 also began yesterday, this one is a bit more interesting, it is the $5,000 Eight Handed NLHE.
Final entry numbers awaited, but heading into the last level of the day, the lerading Brit seems to be Chris Moorman (30,000). There is a case for saying that Chris is one of THE best Online MTT players in the entire world, & he is pretty handy "Live", too.
He used to stake, literally, dozens of players Live & Online, & I believe he invested a huge 6 figure sum staking players at the 2012 WSOP but got almost no return. As far as I know, he has now stopped staking other players. Times are hard for him, even harder for those he used to stake. Chris is (or maybe was) a "Lock Pro" which must be an interesting gig these days...... Yup, times are really tough.
Simon's dad, Chris, won the 2009 GUKPT Manchester, after Chris paid him in as a birthday present.
The current leader in Event # 2 is none other than the ever popular...... Barry Greenstein. One up to the old skool, then.
Barry Greenstein is famous for his fashion sense, I believe Orford is a student.
When you have as much money as Barry, who cares how bad your jumpers are?
Event #2 update.
There were 448 entries, of which 336 remain.
Top three at present are Barry G, Antonio Esfandiari, & Chris Moorman.
Go on Chris!
It's allegedly got solvency "issues" and has over the last fortnight been reported on poker news sites been unable to meet customers' withdrawal requests.
Moorman & Paul Volpe have both "Parted Company" with the site over the last month or so
FCHD - thanks for the Update, I was not aware that Chris had nmved on from Lock, but I'm so glad he has. He is a smashing lad, & did not deserve to be mixed up in all that nonsense.
For those not up to speed, it has allegedly been taking an average of 3 months to withdraw cash from Lock, & that has now got worse. I believe folks on 2+2, where there are threads galore about it, are trying to sell their balances at 5c in the $.
Can you even begin to imagine that - 3 months to withdraw a player balance? We get a chunter or two here, sometimes justifiably, but everything is relative, eh?
New Chip Leader in Event # 2.......
Chris Moorman, 100,000
Happy days!
Ha, thanks Andy!
The boring stats are not much fun, but the little stories help, I hope.
I hope as many people as possible also contribute stuff to this thread.
Yes, the VLV thing is a shame, but it is not the end of the world, so we may as well get on with things, & hopefully still have some fun.
I'll be out there from 14th June, so, fingers crossed, I'll try & do the Blogs then, too.
He was on the Show on Sunday, flew out Tuesday, & won an event in Vegas on Wednesday!
What a life.....
Bet he talked them to death.
Honk honk!
PS - The more Posts like that, the better, we can all help make this fun. Thanks.
I just heard that James Dempsey (may be seen on 861 soon.....) ended Day One of Event # 2 with 25,000 chips. (Started with 10,000, average 35,0000).
Bit of a story there, actually.....
Neil Channing ironically tweeted......
Exercised better game-selection than the egomaniacs in the $5k event. Prob all busy telling the backers how soft it was 1.3 was a bargain
To which Flushy just Posted.....
Ha Channing must have been looking in the wrong room, or likely just made that assessment without having a look at the field at all.
Farmers all over the place.
Not very nice to dem poor old farmers!
Good morning.
Some interesting "Brit" news from that $5,000 Eight-Handed Event in Vegas.
As at 0630 here, which is 10.30pm Vegas, with just 60 of the original 481 remaining, young David Vamplew is flying high, he is in 4th place with around 300,000 chips. (Blinds 1,200/2,400/400).
David won the GUKPT Grand final a few years back, when GUKPT was in its heyday (GUKPT numbers have since fallen dramatically) for a whopping £900,000.
He has also had several 6 figure paydays, including WPT Venice (over $200,000), & the WSOP $1,500 Six Max in 2011 (4th, $141,300).
I had him in all of my WSOP Fantasy League things in 2012, & he pretty much bricked out, with just 4 minor cashes, so I omitted him from all my lists this year. Meh.
He is a Scot, from Fife, & beautifully spoken, & is generally known as the Harry Potter lookalike.
I interviewed him in Vegas for Ch 861 a few years back, I'll see if I can find the clip.
Ha!
Found a PHOTO of that interview, but not the actual interview yet.
If I recall correctly, I was giving him some advice on how to improve his game. Ish.
Found it.
The interesting thing here is the part about selling action, which is quite a hot debate these days.
David reckoned he would not sell for the WSOP Main Event at less than 1.8!
I actually asked him after the interview if I could buy some of his Main Event action at 1.8, & he turned me down. "I don't sell action, except to one close friend, & I limit him to 1%".
David happily swims very much against the tide.......he is a smashing lad, & I hope he gets the lot.

Also going well in the same event is Brandon Cantu.
Probably best if I don't tell the story right now, but he caused quite a hoohah in the 2012 WSOP-E.
google is your friend, "Brandon Cantu robbed". There is some stuff about the whole affair on You Tube, too.
If you think I rant on a bit when it comes to important stuff like concrete, wait till you listen to Brandon......
Guess we've all been there & done that when we lose a game of poker, especially when we first begin our poker journey, & I hope he puts it behind him now, as bellyaching ain't ever gonna solve his problem. Very fine player, obviously.
Event 3 is also underway.
This is a very odd affair, I don't recollect the WSOP ever doing anything like this previously.
It is a $1,000 NLHE, with TWO opening flights on the same day, one at 11am, the other at 5pm. Those who bust the morning flight can enter the afternoon flight, so it is a sort of rebuy/re-entry jobbie.
The first flight attracted a whopping 1,800+ entries, of which less than 600 currently remain. The numbers for second flight are not yet available.
In that $5,000 Event # 2, the 8-handed thing, they are down to 40, & with 56 paid, so everyone is in the money.
David Vamplew sits in 4th place at present, & has $11,235 locked up, but will be gunning for the top prize of $553,906. Ooohh, half a mill......
Last news I had of David Vamplew in the $5k 8 Handed, there were 30 left ($13,000+ locked up) & he was still a top ten stack.
Silly sausages.
