The elder statesman (or woman) of UK and Irish Poker?  Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees.

    Great article Tikay.

A very nice article Tikay. I didn't know that Liam Flood had passed away as I don't really keep up to speed on the poker world nowadays, however from a few years ago I remember him being a very highly respected player and tournament referee. As you pointed out it is rare in the poker world that you find someone so unanimously liked.

Who does the baton get passed to? We'll as others have said I think we know the answer to that one Sir!

Ta for the kind words, much appreciated.
To be fair, although I came first, I didn't actually beat anyone on that list! Six seats were guaranteed into the final and 7th place was for £200, summat like that. I was middley stack and as soon as we were 7 handed, I shoved the lot with a bag of spanners and somehow hit two pair. To be honest I would have been happy to take a couple of hundred quid, but I'm even happier to get to the final!

ps. Can't wait for TK to read this, he'll be his usual UN-BEL-IEV-ABLE!

With the traffic hopefully increasing over the next couole of months with your rather quaint little game..
Would it not be a good idea to put some £16.50's and upwards in the lobby?

    As Brian Potter would say

"If we build it, they will come"

Sigh @ "your quaint little game"........

Personally, yes, I'd LOVE to see some £16.50's, but they'd need to be careful not to just spread the existing liquidity - which is now very good at the £3.30 & £5.50 levels - across a wider number of games. But yes, maybe some bigger games would attract some of the bigger hitters.

For context though, the biggest game is currently £11, so lets first see how many ran @ £11 in October.

I don't actually know the total number, but this gives us a fair guide.

In October, I played  23 sessions.

In total, I played 464 games.

During those 23 sessions, & 464 games, I played EVERY £11er that ran whilst I was on site.

The total number of £11 games amounted to......44 games.

So the £11ers represented only 9.5% of ALL PLO8 DYM's.

Which begs the question - is there a market for £16.50 games in PLO8?

    Me? I'd LOVE there to be, £16.50, £22, £33, I'd play them non-stop if I could.

I just fear that the liquidity would not be there though. It will eventyally, yes, but maybe it's a bit soon?

I know reams of numbers are boring, but for my own sake as much as anything, I need to finalise my October numbers, "for the record", & I'm 4 days behind, so I'll do them now, then summarise October overall.

I've not played much at all the last week, as I've been a goodly bit under the weather, and still am, but hopefully I'll be back up to full speed ahead very soon. So the last 3 sessions have just been 9 or 10 games each, as that was all I could manage really.

Wierd really, nothing I enjoy more than a 30 or 40 game sesion, 6 tabling, but at the moment, I can't manage more than 4 or 5 tables at a time, in small batches, as I'm struggling to focus properly.

Been really busy with work, too, lots of bits & bobs on my little "to-do list", some of them really exciting, too.

Went up to Leeds on Thursday and had a really great Meeting, covered lots of interesting stuff, & of course there was quite a bit of behind the scenes work with 861 to set up the Moorman Show, & now we have UKOPS too.

Well that was a neat trick - won 21 out of 34 (62%) & still managed to lose £2!

Losing both the £11ers was obviously not very clever. Boo.

    Onwards & sideways.

    Played 8, won 7, BOOMIO.

I just could not lose, whether I got it in good or bad, I just kept winning every game. I lost the first, & then ran up 7 straight wins.

I played OK, yeah, but not THAT good, it is just how the game works sometimes, the cards just fall nicely some nights.

    Played 10, won 3.

    What?

    Ha!

The exact opposite of the previous day. No matter what I did, or how well I got it in, I could not win. Played 3 @ £5.50 & lost the lot!

Jeez, I love the challenge this game gives us, just when we think we've got it sussed, it comes back & bites us.

    Love it.
