    In Response to Re: STANDARD OF PLAY GONE UP....YEAH RIGHT!!!! : Charly, I'm convonced (except when I get a really bad beat!) that the software is not rigged but don't tell me its impossible as technically it is not. For example you could have a subroutine in the software that checks the ive hands, compares the next random card with the lowest hand and, if it doesn't overtake the other hand, throws it away and takes the next random card etc. until it gets the desired card/result. There are some blackjack sites that are programmed to deal "seconds", meaning that if the card dealt to the dealer busts the hand that card is ignored and the next card is taken. That approach gives the dealer an 8% advantage (as far as I remember) instead of a 2% advantage.

    perhaps when i said impossible i was wrong in that i can remember an instant when playin another well know site there were 3 kings on the flop and i had 2 in my hand 5 kings,had a word str8 afterward with site manager and he couldnt explain it,there'll always be glitches in all sofeware but would say 99.9 of the software is ok.But this is getting off the track.There'll always be muppets and chancers and the all in merchants and the riverites,that will never change but to me its still spoils the game for other peaple and even worse for the players who have just joined,who do genuinly want to learn the art of poker.

    and come back with a clear mind. The donks may not go away but you'll be better able to deal with

    The better player you are the more you will get bad beats. Why is this? well the better player you are the more likely you are to get your money in when your winning. Therefore you will either win as you are suppose to or someone will suck out on you.
    If you always go in ahead you can never get lucky, if you always go in behind you can never get unlucky.
    That is why better players always feel that they don't have any luck.




    P.S be careful what you are classing as a bad beat, if someone shoves with 75 and I call with AK i am only a 60-40 fav to win the hand and therefore this situation is little more than a coin flip

    Well I've had hundreds of mind-blowing bad beats (including hitting trip jacks on flop against ace high and seeing A A on 4th and 5th street) so I must be nailed on for Total Player!

    underdog winning 9/10??? doubt that verrry much..

    this is why we love poker... it is the same regardless of which site you play on or even live in the casino..

    its pokerrrrrrr, if you dont like it, dont play it.. fed up of all the whingers

    Ive just read thru the 2nd half of this thread and canny believe people have found faults with this post, clueless? If u disagree with any of the above, I believe its u guys who are clueless, and very much suspect that when it comes to poker, u are!

    He sums it up well with the last line.

    Why dont uze post some of the hands where you aren't happy with the lay against you, then instead of winging and moaning about beats, maybe theres things we can discuss within your play to try and stop them happening as often as they do. 40 plus posts discussing bad play?

    Yeh I agree Debs, thats why I dont understand the whole post, I havent really understood it from early on.

    But theres issues of building a pot with a huge hand, slowplaying, betting to get value for the hands - All of these things can be looked at.

    Theres a fine line between slow playing your hand to get value, and leaving youself open to outdraws.

    Fair enough hands like AA V TT All in pre, and a ten coming, are just rank badbeats and theres not alot we can do about them.

    I agree with doh, you want  to be playing against these players,  pokers a game of luckand skill, you can only play the cards you get dealt after all   Theres no right or wrong way of playing, you have to play the way that profits you, if the guys making a profit playing rag hands thats working for them, good luck to them.  Cant see why people get the hump over a turn of a card.

    Alright Daz - I had read past your msg, but saw some people having a pop at you so went bak to find it, read it, and was amazed, there wasnt anything bad about it at all! haha.

    As for total player - That dream is ova now! lol Nice to get recognised tho, Ive played so poorly the last week or so, maybe thats what let me down, Im going against my own advice and moving down the levels for a few days (doubt that will last very long but ill find out tomorrow).

    Ill have another crack at it next time its Matts turn to pick, gonna prove him wrong! :):)

    Btw Ive just read ur profile Daz and was in stitches.

    One piece of poker advice : Patience, it doesn't really work though! haha lololol

    Hey all,

    Dohx7 and Daz, love reading your comments.. In my view being passionate about something is never a bad thing so it's always interesting to see things from someone elses perspective. And as long as that perspective isn't inflammatory or derogatory then it is most welcome on this forum.

    Dohx7 VWD on the total player recognition. Very well deserved IMO.

    Fallenx I get what you are saying completely, I have had a few weeks of having to be a lot more cheerful on the site than I have felt due to the outcome of certain hands, tourneys and games. Obviously my role as Sky poker presenter means that I am essentially an ambassador for Sky Poker so must conduct myself as such. However as a poker player and one who plays pretty much every day on the site, I have to say that bad beats, nasty suckouts and river outdraws get me down as much as the next person. Especially when it happens for extended periods of time. Nobody is perfect right?!

    But, at the end of the day it is a game and varience is impartial. Keep in mind that I and some of my colleagues play regularly on our own personal accounts with our own money more often than we play on our sky PTP accounts. So I take the hits to my BR as personally as anyone. Nobody likes bad beats or to be consistantly outdrawn. In poker it happens. It's not wrong or right but it is inevitable.

    How long?? That's a good question! If you get sick of all the bad beats and outdraws then maybe poker isn't the game for you. They're always gonna happen and you can't do much about it i'm afraid! But if you're not enjoying it then there isn't much point in playing, it's supposed to be entertainment after all!
    I don't mind people having a moan and xFALLENx I completely see where you're coming from which is why I relpied. I had two months where everytime I played it seemed I was at the wrong end of everything! I got through it but it does get you down. Hopefully you'll stay with it though because it really is a great game even with the muppets! ;)

    thats all well and good but dont get me wrong here but your playing with some of the best players on that tourny and your chances of cashing never mind winning are dramatically reduced so you really have to be on top of your game and what if merenovice,paperon or phil12uk suckout on you would it be the same knowing a good player has given you a bad beat...cant believe this thread hasnt been moved

    BEEN READING ALL THE WONDERFUL ADVICE (VIA A FEW PPL ON HERE) AND TAKEN NOTE.....MY STORY LAST NIGHT....PLAYED IN TOURNY...AND WAS DOING OK.

    THE CHIP LEADER (WHO IS ALWAYS ON MY TABLE....LOL) GOT BEAT WITH MUPPET CARDS AND HE HAD A GOOD OLD MOAN ABOUT IT.

    2 X 4 CAME DOWN SO HE GOT TRIPS AND KNOCKED ME OUT.

    ANGER GOT THE BETTER AND I SAID 'WOW U CAN TALK....JOKE'

    AND FUNNILY ENOUGH HE SAID NOTHING.

    AND I SUSPECT HE FELT STUPID AS HE HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THE VERY SAME THING HAPPENING 2 HIM.
