And the solid and successful start to 2015 continues.
Tuesday 20th
Played Main/Mini and 5 DYMs. Managed to cash in the main event again for approximately £25, Mini I took a head for £1,88 and in the DYMs I cashed 3/5 for a £2,50 profit, so overall made about £13. Played pretty well, not much else to say.
Thursday 22nd
Played Main/Mini and cash. Managed to satellite into the main for £7,20 in the Late reg satellite, was too busy cooking when the 6pm Sat was on. Played cash alongside the satellite and got stacked twice .. One hand there was absolutely nothing I could do as I played it or if I just peeled a 3bet+call, other hand I intended to bet/fold a river but instead misclicked call, a call that costed me £8.
The Mini was going well early on then when in dire straights I got a treble up and continued to build stack in the middle stages. Had a few lovely pots when I was dealt QQ 3 times in 5 hands and got up to the top 5 with 60 left. Continued to apply pressure and try to put middle stacks in spots, ended up losing hands A4<A9 and A9<A10 for heads and I was back down to average. Grinded out to final 2 tables and then finally got my big double up in the form of 88<66. Interesting dynamic then formed when 8 players left - 1 player was away with 2bb and the other player on the same table had folded down to 1bb and was trying to outlast the disconnectee. The other 2 players were myself and another decent stack and I was applying the pressure hard on him and ran up a decent stack for the final table. Knock out someone in 7th when my J9 turned quads, get to the final table. Turn completely card dead for 10 orbits or so. Get dealt KK. Get 3bet. I 4bet jam. Guy has AA.
Been a while. Exams now over (Wahey!). Didn't write up last Mondays session but I final tabled the Megastack for about £30 so ended up the night overall. Big local derby yesterday went amazingly well, last minute winner!
Bring on the poker tonight, been a perfect weekend so far.
Not a great start to February. Played 7 MTTs and cashed in 0. Went deep in 4 and got returns of £6.50 off around £55 in head prizes.
Near misses include:
12th in Turbo with 6 paid 9th in 200gtd with 6 paid 49th in 11bh with 40 paid 19th in Speed with 13 paid
Again, in my exits I did absolutely nothing wrong, just not getting there or holding up. Hand of the night (jamming into a guys BB who I do not expect to fold any hand) :
So tonight started exceptionally welll .... Middle was absolutely pants and managed to recover in 2 MTTs to drag a £29 loss to.. wait for it.. 50p profit!
DTD2 -
Matt23706£11.10
10pm £5 Turbo -
Matt23705£18
Dtd2 was in dire straights, 24/24 on such an extremely long bubble and I was so short but just kept getting there, then elsewhere other people would get there, then I would. Finally someone bust and they dropped like flies. Got to about 10/10 and just thought i'll go for a FT here, kept jamming my button like you usually do, had a few monsters but all got folds. Eventually found myself in with J5 vs 44 - had lots of outs as board paired but could not get there.
Turbo was a fun game. I found myself on 2bb with 8 left - next minute I was on a FT and someone busted before me so got 3 awesome ladders. Not really much to say, I just could not get hands to go with considering no fold equity was there.
Semester 2 starts tomorrow, and Leamington v Chorley is also at 7,45pm weather permitting so no play tomorrow, unless if football is called off. Run good everyone
Busy weekend now over, my HDMI-VGA cable has arrived and now we can start playing on this little beauty, as opposed to just a laptop:
Definitely will make the multitabling aspect more comfortable and easier. 2 latest purchases i'm pretty happy about as all I was living with was a laptop, did not have my PS4 here at all so can now bring that over to connect up to TV.
Despite dealing with a long football away day and a Friday night outing we still managed to fit in 50 DYM games in over the course of the weekend in which I finished 30/50 being 60% which is what we want to achieve over the long term. Received a fair amount of abuse this week for making +ev moves and hitting ... some day people will learn :-).
Plan for this week is volume, Tonight will be the standard DTD/Megastack night alongside some DYMs on the side, Tomorrow being my MTT night and the rest of the week dedicated to DYMing. Now on 630 games played, definitely will complete the 1000 this month now we have some time and a decent set up.
Run good everyone, hopefully chat to some on the tables
Good-Luck Matt. How WAS the game on Saturday? I didn't goto chelmsford's home game on Saturday as I was far too knackered after a busy week at work. On friday I was discussing Tottenham with my Boss who is also a spurs fan, and I discovered there was an Fa Youth Cup game on Last night (Monday) so I headed to the lane for the first time in Nearly TEN YEARS (Due to Various Circumstances) and watched the Youth beat Man Utd Youth 3-1.
Poker wise not done much - but played mainly cash at 4NL level and are more or less breaking even each time. DYM's although somewhat falling by the way-side I still play these and are doing ok at £1.15 level.
Best result thus far this year is a small score in a £3.30 Timed 30min game, where I won-Back £3.60. However it could have been so much more as I got dealt JJ's in the penultimate hand and they failed to hold - thank goodness all of the chips didn't go in - I would have been so gutted to fall at the last!
Good debut session on computer, is nice to actually fit 12 tables onto a screen without major overlaps (can fit 16 which is excellent for dym grind)
I managed to cash in DTD1, no good in DTD2 and DTD3 but a final table in 3rd position of the £5,50 megastack for just over £50, accompanied with a 50% cash rate over 20 DYMs made my night come to a £32 profit, so happy with that. DYMs were a case of the big blind always waking up with hands! I think I jammed button 4 or 5 times and ended up running into bigger aces that are never folding on the bubble. Megastack was a bit of a cruel one, I got A7 in vs AK and flopped the 7, but the guy rivered a flush, justice I suppose ;-).
Good-Luck Matt. How WAS the game on Saturday? Posted by GaryLaud
Thanks Gary not seen you in a while. Game was away at Harrogate and finished 1-1, could have won, hit the bar with about 5 minutes left but a good point away from home nonetheless.
Week hasn't gone too well but will be out in force tonight, possibly playing the £11er for double points. Will be playing with chat off sadly after recent events so if anyone wants to chat I probably won't reply lol. May say hello to 1 or 2 people though.
Placed bets for tomorrow non league football and looking forward to a potential relegation six pointer as we play Gainsborough at home tomorrow. Hopefully pull away from relegation and sort out our mess at the end of the season after renewing Conference regional status.
Friday night was a disaster and one of my worst profit/loss sessions to date. (however we got lots of points!) Did alot of table selecting at the 11s level and then played most of the 22s/33s than ran and ran horrendously at the top end resulting in a bad night.
So after a disastrous Friday we have recovered since then and looking forward to another night of poker tonight, only have afternoon lectures Thursday/Friday so hoping for some deep runs before the double points hoarding starts again on Friday.
Bit disappointed with my DYM tally considering I was 10/13 at one stage but can't have everything, probably gave more concentration to my deep MTT runs which was understandable. Really happy with how I played tonight and nice to earn a fair amount of bob eh. Final hand of the speed was a fun one. -
I came out about £5 down. Again played the same schedule as Wednesday but the £2 rebuy instead of the Megastack.
MTT results good again -
- Bubble of £2 rebuy - AA did not hold against JTo (Not going to say how I felt about his play on the bubble, we do not like each other as it is!)
- 10th in the turbo with 6 paid - KQsuited missed vs A3o, again another strange call from myself jamming 11bb but happens, we get there, we're in a great spot to win. We don't and gg :-)
- £2 speed I cashed in about 9th for around about £13, 3rd night in a row cashing this.
DYMs I finished 14/26, won around 8 in a row towards the end to recover the night.
Nice to see another team mate doing well in Lmfa()allin , guy won main last night :-)
Friday/Saturday/Sunday double points, hitting the DYMs lets gooooooooo good luck everyone! Saturday is in red because I may end up without sleep tonight so not sure if i'll play lol.
Managed 100 games tonight, won 58 so profit, and lots of points :-) win win
More of the same Saturday/Sunday. Would post some hands but my memory right now is pretty useless as you can probably guess. I remember one of the games in the very first hand someone jammed before me and I had JJ, snapped him off and he showed 66 and flopped quads. That's about all I can remember :-)
Leamington play league leaders Barrow tomorrow at our fortress, can't wait.
I played the Thursday which had double points and managed 53/100 which was a £9 loss and an extra 1k points, to boost my February total to over 8500, my highest points total ever.
Colwyn Bay weekender happened and happened in style as we won away from home 5-1 in a relegation 6 pointer, hoping to knick a 1-0. I lumped £50 on us at 23/10, that was nice. Got home Sunday and was rather rough so no play.
Monday visited a friend so no play.
Tuesday I went away to Chorley, playing a top 7 team away from home and we battered them and drew 2-2, which I happened to have £10 on at 18/1. So whilst not getting all 3 points, at least I made a tidy profit.
Wednesday I lost a bit of money over here but on stars I went deep in a $3 KO game and won around $87.
So caught up, tonight was all about Sky. Tidy £60 profit.
So with nearly £180 to come tomorrow in points from last month, passed all 3 modules for first semester with an amazing attendance of 55% but still need to resit 1 exam.
So a win in the turbo which I probably deserved because 4 handed everyone played the folding game so I took the initiative, got to HU about 3:1 behind and jammed nearly every hand and next minute I was 5:1 in front. Jammed 10 8os and he eventually got fed up and called with 85 hearts, dream spot!
The BH I came 2nd in for around £71 I probably should have won, although got into some bad coolers when 3:1 in front. Had A7 and the board came down A 9 10 8 A. Managed to find a check behind on the turn and snapped off a river bet so ended up not doubling him up at that point. But he kept getting there and I started to get frustrated. Got 67 in vs AQ on 6 7 Q only for it to come running 9s to counterfeight. Then I was down to 10bb and never really recovered. Still a good night overall.
Time to place a couple of bets, look forward to Leamington v 2nd placed and moneybags AFC Fylde tomorrow and some sleep.
Again, just No. Managed to make a Mega FT to jam AQ suited to be called by 93o by man who was playing ATC to get them in cause he realised myself and other villain had an obvious edge. 9 flops and holds, very frustrated. Had some more brutal hands which I just have to laugh at. Never mind. Somehow only £30 down, could've been better had the megastack gone my way.

Fair play to him, sounds like he knows what he's doing in a warped way. Take the skill out the game if you think you're the underdog, when the pay jumps are the biggest.

Yeah can't really fault him. In about 8 orbits the best I had was 10 high on reflection, so couldn't really do much, as other player was half my stack.

Perhaps he wasn't as stupid as he looked then
Though calling the jam with 9 high kinda contradicts that.
Last night I lost about £18, ended up final tabling a 200 GTD for £31 to sort of rescue a poor night. Had to pull an all nighter for 9am Uni this morning to try and find out when my test is next week, turns out I didn't find out and wasted a day in bed lol.
Wednesday was a little better, ran horrendously in those key hands which make or break games, except for the £5 turbo in which I came 2nd for £49 and was one card away from victory. We got in KQ vs 68dd on Ad Kx 7d 9 on turn and Qd rivered. Not gunna lie wasn't loving it but not sure why he would donk flop then jam with Ax hands, seemed rather passive to me. Was correct, just didn't hold. Had a chance to regain CL with A2<A9 after flopping straight draw and better flush draw but bricked.
3 £5 BHs and 3 cashes, one I blew a top 3 stack with 10 left running into CL KK, again possibly could get away but didn't plan on it. Another I scraped through a min cash whilst card dead, lost flip. Then in the final one, someone in the BB had 2bb, chip leader raises in CO, I jam KK on button with my 7bb and invitably the BB pushes and CL calls. Hands? Q2 and 34. 34 manages to flop me almost completely dead with a flush. Never mind.
So over 2 days I profit about £15, some good runs and some sick hands denying further progress. We move to Thursday in a final session before a hectic weekend.
Remembering you have a test at 3pm when still awake at 1 this morning, and having slept 12pm-6pm the day before. Fair to say tonights session will be replaced with sleep!

Enjoying the diary Matt, suspect we'll be hearing about a big win from you shortly and 2015 will be your year.
