When Pearson was appointed I was disappointed as he's a thug. I did grudgingly accept that it might end up being a decent appointment as I thought he'd get results.
As it has turned out, he's a thug who hasn't got results and the football we have played has been awful. In every interview he blamed the players mentality and how they were playing badly due to hangovers from previous seasons.
    Utter tosh
We've failed at the last hurdle for 3 years and managed to overcome the disappointments and get back up there each season. It's only since Pearson arrived that they've suddenly forgotten how to play.
The 'project' (I really hate that) that managers come out with these days is garbage. Why should it take two seasons to get us in a position to be promoted?
We clearly have good players. It's not as though he's taken on a a team that's been finishing mid table.
McClaren had an instant impact. He was going to watch the first game when he started from the stand. At half time we were 4-0 down. He went into the dressing room and made changes. We drew 4 each. From then on we had automatic promotion form. This was with the players that amazing Clough had managed to finish 15th with each year.

I can totally understand why McClaren is a laughing stock in the football world. However at Derby he did very well. I'd be very happy to see him back.
It's fairly split with the fans about him. He messed up hugely in his last season with us. He should have just said he wasn't interested in Newcastle even if he was going to go there at the end of the season. Happens all the time.
The team were certainly unsettled by it but there were more cruicial factors that stopped us that season. Ibe was recalled by Liverpool. Martin who had scored prolifically all season got injured. Bent came in and scored goals and the he too got injured. We then had all 3 defensive midfielders ruled out for the rest of the season as well.

Never dull following Derby anyway :)

House move went very smoothly which was a bit of a shock.
We've done plenty over the last week and the house is looking good. Snagging list is pretty big though. They're coming tomorrow to sort out a few minor things.

Got 6 golf lessons booked. If the pro can get me to hit the ball in the air then it will be worth it! I'm proper toss at golf right now.

Poker going well. I haven't had a losing night in 10 days. Not playing for 10 days may well have something to do with that.

Found loads of stuff I'd forgotten about when we left the old house. 'Stoosh' is the album of choice in my car presently. Great album

Nice to see you back and glad you are settling in to the new house.

    Thoughts on new manager?

Hope your Grandad is ok? Take that one off-line if you dont want to discuss here.

As long as Clough doesn't come back or we give the job to Ian Holloway then I'll be fairly happy

    Baby steps
I'm really trying to be disciplined. With my confidence pretty low I've decided to go right back to basics. £3 and £5 dyms for now and not many of them. I've played 9 in total over the last 3 weeks and won 7. So a decent start.
I did slip the other night and played the goldrush.

Really like the look of he new mtt schedule. Payout structures always confuse me. In the goldrush I finished 12th for £21. The chunky maestro played it as well and cashed in 25th. He got £18. Only £3 difference seems a bit weird.

Got the priority mini tonight and I plan to just play that and nothing else.
    ...
Dirty horrible Leeds on Saturday. Once again, please don't let us lose to them again.
I remember last time Sam was very quick to gloat. Amazing that he found time really. He's proper 24/7 from what I can gather with his work.
If we do happen to beat them I'm obviously not petty enough to start a thread about it.
    ...
A poker friend is going through an awful time at the moment. He really is one of the good guys and everyone is praying that things will work out as well as possible for him and his family.
    Thinking of you mate.

Other than the Mighty Rams destroying dreadful dirty Leeds on Saturday, it was probs a weekend to forget. Certainly an expensive one anyhow.

Dropped my phone on Saturday. £60 for a new screen

Played the Derby rebuy last night. Bust to an extremely creative play.

Cash was tough. Lost a £220 pot with Jacks v 10s. Worse still, it was against a player who was trying every angle going. He regularly didn't mean to raise etc

One hand against him I would be interested in thoughts. I had him covered and he said all in on the turn. He was at the far end of the table to me. He moved his stack forwards which was about £80. His forearms were forward holding the cards. I had an overpair to the board but it was very wet. After about a minute I asked for a count of his chips to make sure how much it was. He then said that it was about £130. As he said this he moved forwards from behind him a couple of ponies

Not impressed I mucked straightaway then.

I guess if I had called before the £50 came forwards it would have had to have been for the full £130? I would certainly have questioned it though.

I was about to leave a bit later on and thought I'd play one more hand. ( you know where this is going ).
I flipped the 3 nut flush and lost to the 2 the 2nd nut flush, J3, :)
Would have got me about level for the night. Instead I lost £300.
    Bah

I'll get em next time :)

Saw La La again last night. Maybe for the first time in a couple of years. He was probs late 80s when I first met him all those years ago. Have to admit I feared the worst
He was just the same as ever. Satbwith the min and chuntered his way through a couple of buy ins

    Love La La

Such sad news about the passing of Dave Colclough. I never met him but he was always one of the players I'd watch in my early days of following poker.
As a new player I did write to him about how to deal with bad beats once. He was obviously a very perceptive chap as he replied and basically told me to grow a pair.

There was a thread on another forum that I posted on last week. It came up that someone suggested that maybe 30% of the players in poker were criminals and that the game was full of dirty money. I commented that I would maybe have agreed with that 15 years ago but not now. A well respected guy then posted that he would say it was more like 50% of players were dodgy.

I really struggle with this. I don't believe that is true or maybe I just don't want to believe. In my head I find it so hard to imagine that when I sit down at a table at least half of the other players are crooks. Maybe I'm just happily naive. I want to stay happily naive.
    .
It's odd how the mind works. At 20 I believed that anyone over 30 was old. At 30 it was people over 40 and now at 40 it's people over 50, people like Hendrick for example.
I still feel young but I guess that when I sit down at Derby there are plenty putting me in the old player bracket.
It's the same with people in authority. They have to be older than me surely? I'm a kid, you just can't have policeman who are younger than me.
    .
Poker has been crapp for a while. Playing a bit better but can't win a flip for the big stacks. It's standard and I've hardly got a sample size, but it's still frustrating nonetheless.
    .
Visiting my grandad a lot in hospital. Terrible terrible situation for my Mum and Uncle. I'm concerned about my Mum as it's, understandably, consuming her right now.
    .
Having some golf lessons. Going ok.
Algarve next month I'm really looking forward to.

At present, I'm not cool like fonz. I'm sad like Sue Ellen when the drinks cabinet was locked.
Post after post of drivel from me on here with no reply. 3 cases of bullying and harassment on the forum in this last week. Who would do this you might ask? Has the lovely PatWalshh made a return?

    No!
The abuse directed my way has been  from the Sky team. The hugely respected Tikay and also Sam,  have upset me greatly with their comments.
    "Rollfer"
    "Grumpy Jac"
    "Forum ban for you"

    Words hurt gentlemen.

Of course this situation can be rectified.
I see that very minor cases are now being dealt with in the correct manner with £33 bh seats being given as way of an apology.

A seat into tonight's £110 please and we'll say no more about it.
Then, I shall be cool like Fonz.
    Ta in advance

Great, so apart from being stood up by my plumber......again.

Toure presenting The Germans with two goals.

And sleeping in for work today, now I am being abused for being 'mature'.......

I thought I better do a scientific experiment, so I used the now infamous age guessing app (the one The Express and Mail used) to predict the age of The Grumpy author

It would appear this app is actually extremely accurate as the picture of The roffler came out with 68yrs, so I think it is fairly certain that those in the casino at Derby consider you an 'old timer'.

As a side note my picture came out at 37, the benefit of a strict kebab diet it seems.

    Bit of a lousy weekend.
Derby lost to an injury time winner again. We're hopefully too good to go down :)

Lost a chunk at Derby for the second week running. Was actually on for my worst losing night ever but rallied late on. Much worse though was that I was a complete dickk to one of my best friends. It was a combination of being drunk and pisssed off at losing that caused it. That's grim though. If poker makes me like that then I need to stop. I would like to think I'll get the benefit of the doubt but could understand if I don't.

This may well be argued :) but most of my grumpiness is tongue in cheek. Just recently it's changed and I've just been unpleasant. I wonder when we cross over from out of character to that's just how a person is? Excuses but I think tiredness is a problem as well. Got myself 10 hours sleep last night and fell much more like it.

Done a bit of soul searching and given myself a kick up the backside. I'm in a very lucky  position, there are a few friends who are going through a really tough time at the moment and I need to be better.

So I'm going to be better.
    ...
Very happy with my golf lessons. I know the pro well and sonhes aware that he needs to dumb it down for me and it's working.
Want to win a tablet from the priority promotion. Be a nice Christmas present for Harry. Just need to pick a day to have a proper go at it.
    ...
May have torn my knee cartilage for the third time :(

A little recovery this last few days  after a couple of bad weeks. Nothing dramatic but £190 up from a mixture of cash, mtts and dyms. Not really put much volume in.
The new triple point promotion interests me. Not a huge amount of effort required for priority.

Golf lesson and then 18 holes today. Starting to enjoy golf again even though I'm struggling to 'get' one thing the pro wants me to do. Could be another full lesson just on that today.

Mighty Rams on tv again on Sunday. Bit weird. We've been on home and away v Wolves for the last few seasons. Pity in a way as I'd have gone to Molineux again as I think it's a good proper ground.

Harry has become a demon child over the last few weeks. Strong willed, as my Mother puts it.
Fun situation on Tuesday. I took Penny to the hospital for some physio. Double parked as she just needed to jump out and go in. Harry decided to get out the car as well and then refused to get back in. Penny kindly wandered off and left me to it. Harry starts screaming and stopping me from getting him in his car seat. Woman parked starts beeping her horn. Then she gets out and demands that I move my car.  Not that easy really love. Force him into his seat and thenhe just unclips the belt. Awkward spot. I'm in the wrong and I can understand why the woman is annoyed but at the same time I can't just throw the boy in the car and drive off.
We got there in the end.

He came into the bedroom the other day and informed us that he had taken his nappy off and done a poo. Marv. Dirty protest at us still being in bed at 5am on a Sunday morning I guess.

He picked up a load of stones.Told him to put them down. He decided that throwing them at his mothers car would be a better option.
    Plenty more as well.
