Maybe bet like 1/2 pot on flop to set up sizing for 3 barrels rather than 2.

It was an option that went through my mind.  The reason for the turn shove was down to the fact he started with £100.  Was trying to make him think that he still has a double up in front of him rather than suck him into making a hero call on the river if I miss and barrel.

Man i was watching this game was soo tempted to play, it looked juicy, but 200NL has never been good for me; not yet anyway. Imho i think you'r approach to this guy was wrong, why try to get him to fold hands and bully him when he was not going to play by you'r rules?, i would play quite passive v him, let him win a few hands, whatever, stack him when you hit, i would just play my strong hands strong and my weak hand weak, but you'r obviously more qualified at this level than me.

Ref hand i would just flat and take it from there, your squeeze is pointless when there was almost no dead money in that game pre-flop, as played, sucks that you were totally crushed, still i don't think there was a need to build the pot big without a made hand, my line if i squeezed pre would be, b/half pot f, bet/half pot t, c/f  missed river.

Cheers for your thoughts on the hand man.  I disagree somewhat with the first bolded statement above, but that's only my opinion.  If it went to the river I think I am barrelling that card TBH.  Would have been the same result.

Really pumped for the SPT.  Going to be great.  I keep telling myself 'On the Friday night I'm playing the tournament and then enjoying myself at the bar, I will not grind Round of Each cash until 3am again.'  If I end up sat at the cash tables please feel to remind of this fact.

I'm driving down with my Dad who managed to get one of the direct buy ins when it opened.  Here's how that conversation went.

    'phone rings'

'Hi Tom, can I get a seat for Cardiff yet?'  (this is the seventh time we've had this opening line to a telephone conversation).

'Let me check, yes they opened this morning so you can buy in now and get a seat, there's about twenty left.'

    'How do I do that?'

'Just register for it as a normal tournament in the lobby.'

'Can you do it for me?'

My Dad and technology.  Never going to send each other Christmas cards.

    Points chase update.

As expected the race has floundered since the end of Easter.  I'm well below where I thought I'd be let alone on course for the 70k which was always more hope than expectation.  Half of this is down to me not putting in the volume I should have and the other half is the pure lack of £110+ DYMs running.  During the January Rake race the one tens were running quite often and I had hoped to have played somewhere between 75-100 of them this month.  I've played one.  I've been registered for them most nights waiting for something to happen but the recreational players have just disappeared this month, so that's a sigh.

Had a cash downswong followed by a nice upswing, still just ahead of the curve on the DYMs and had a couple of decent results on MTTs.  Month heading for a decent profit if not amazing as hoped (my initial target was again more hope than expectation).

    Points this month - 37.1k
    Profit/loss +£3.1k

All one-way so far - but I'm putting what I am learning to good use on the MTT tables - have cashed (for cash or league points) in one of the big tournies every day this week. But I still keep on handing it over to you on the TV Mastercash.

I might have bet the hand below, but as we had just watched you squeeze me off a pot live on TV I foolishly thought that you might have tightened up for this hand. But no, I seem to remember you had Q10o.

    Well that was Cardiff!

I'm now sat in my lounge chair while I'm being filled in about all the gossip I've missed over the weekend by the GF.  Cardiff was great fun, really great to meet up with the Sky Guys, old and new faces.

Let's get the poker out the way first of all.  I travelled down with my Dad on the Friday afternoon and after paying SIX POUNDs to enter the country I was ready to play poker abroad.  Well, after me and my Dad found an irish bar in town.  On reflection this was -ev.  So we ventured to the casino to play the Friday Sidey and even now I can't remember how I went out.  I think it was a flip but that's a little blurry.  I did manage to bink a couple hundred on the 1/1 cash tables that night but again, not a clue how at this point.  Let's just assume I got it in and got there.

So after a lovely night in the casino bar and witnessing the sight of Ebberdon having to exit a cab on Cardiff High Street to go to his hotel through the modern warfare of Cardiff 3am (Women barefooted screaming at each other, men staggering along with vomit stained tops) it was bed, breakfast, hang over and coffee before the main event.

I never really got going in the main.  I was just disconnected from the game and couldn't find the spots you need to look for.  After very slow start and then a very bad call I found myself down to 3k at 200/400.  It was here I decided to use the 'Run Like TommyD' button on the live site.  An early position 3X raise followed by a 6X shove, and I look down at 97s.  Time to treble or totter off for me, do shove, get call, flop flush, get there, treble.

I started to get some bits and bobs going now, a 3bet shove on a turn with Q high to get a fold was probably the highlight.  As you can probably tell from the hands I'm talking about I wasn't what you could call a rack on this tourney.  In fact the biggest hand I had I decided to fold pre without putting a chip in the pot.  Those Jacks are giving me an allergy, got a little rash while I was tanking that decision.  FWIW the spot was an utg raise from a laggy player, followed by a UTG+1 shove to cover from a tight player, I'm sat on the cut off.  I think it's just a fold, yes yes AK turns up a lot there and you need to take flips in this structure but I thought i could find a better spot.  Sadly I was mistaken.

I dribbled away card dead and spot dead into the low 30s before busting.  Made a move against young Lambert with KT, he informed me that he was calling with his A9 if it wasn't for the BB with AK.  I got there, MBN etc.  Then stayed tight as Tikay announced to the table who I am and the fact I have 'gears.'  When questioned I tried to convince people they misheard him and he said Gear.  Yes at a poker table I'd rather be thought of as a drug dealer than me.

So in a totally cold seat, one of the Swindon massive who according to my live HUD opens every other hand raised and I jam from the SB with T9.  BB wakes up with Kings.  Original raiser calls anyway for the Side pot with K5.  Forgot to click the run good button and busted.  No regrets, that's my game and I won't dribble down to 5BB waiting to lose a flip, just the next time I'm going to wear Phil Laak's Old man costume.

So to Round of Each cash then, saw a nice easy table with Coxy, Yoyo and Scotty to sit at.  In seriousness it was great fun and many more Sky Regs came and went throughout the night.  I managed to get Jullian-ed early doors, to be honest after the pot swung for him I just couldn't stop laughing for two reasons, firstly what was I thinking calling Jullian there, I only had a pair of ones and secondly very funny because Coxy, who's got great banter, just exploded into hillairous prose about the whole thing.  After loading another couple of bullets and playing for hours I did manage to turn red to black in a cooler hand with Tempus.  Flop is 987, two spades.  Temps has top set.  I have AK spades, have an opportunity to 3bet shove and I'm stuck in the game.  I think the hand is totally standard and I got there.  So I managed to finish the evening off with a hundred quid win on the Saturday night and time celebrate Greg's great finish in the main in the bar.  Which we did, made up for the man TBH.  I think I may have given him a big sloppy kiss at some point, for which I apologise.  4.30am and back to bed.  Great weekend.

Now back to point gathering for the month.  After this hang over abates a little.

Frustrating MTTs tonight, mainly because my router was frizzled.  Spent ages trouble shooting, taking out the power cord and putting it back in to restart it, rebooted the computer a ton.  Nothing worked, kept keeping connection to the WiFi but getting 'No Internet Access.'  Finally I looked round the back to check the telephone cord and i see the power plug for the router is hanging out of the socket.  I have no idea how this can interrupt the connection as power was going to the router to run it but everything worked after.  My own stupidity crippled all of my MTT chances, including the VLV Final.  Spent an hour on the virtual warfield afterwards just to chill,

Final push for points and profit tomorrow, going to glue that plug into the wall.

anoying when that happens ive had it at the end on final tables before when its cut out. A good tip if you have nice neighbours and get on well with them is get there access code to log on to there wifi for emergencies that way if your router goes down you may get a week signal from next door but at least you have a chance to connect if something happens.

    So to the final score.

Had a swong over the weekend so we end the month around 5k better off when we think of profit and C4P.  Happy.

As for the points, so much tougher than I thought.  You need to really power through the month and as targets got lower my volume decreased as well.  It's been pretty obvious for a week or so I could only get to the 40k point level so volume all tailed off to sneak over that line.

Ticket booked for the freeroll, let's see what tomorrow brings.

So Roy Hodgson is the new England Football manager then.  I've been tipping him through hope rather than true expectation ever since Harry was made favourite.  No where near shocked with the FA though, they've blown so much money on foreign managers they need someone who:

Won't cost much compo to employ

Won't command anything near Fabio's wages (The FA don't like paying English managers the same as those hugely sucessful Swedes or Italians).

Doesn't have any wiff of controversy

Is not going to be too much trouble or want to change the infrastructure/archaic way the FA and England is run at all

Safe Roy it is then.  I'm delighted, he is a good manager although not as good as Harry despite what Twitter may tell you over the last month.  And Spurs keep Harry which might in turn keep Bale and Modric etc if we can bink that champs league spot.  Tight times but we do have chances.

As for England's chances at the Euros, it all depends if the manager is running the team or the players.  We will see.

Agree, there's a reason why that's the 3rd one, tilt chasing and hoping to catch a flop with far too big a range of hands.  That was a mental mistake pre more than anything.

Spurs win 4-1 at Bolton and are now just one point behind them down the road.  Everything is up in the air with Chelsea in the Champs League final.

I feel the need to quote John Cleese from the film Clockwise.

'It's not the despair, Laura. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand.'
