Spurs win 4-1 at Bolton and are now just one point behind them down the road.  Everything is up in the air with Chelsea in the Champs League final. I feel the need to quote John Cleese from the film Clockwise. 'It's not the despair, Laura. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand. '

    Should give Newcastle some confidence.

Hopefully they will give Man City a game

I have to type this quietly because the GF is a big Toon fan, but I can't see Man City dropping any points between now and the end of the season.  They have all of the momentum as well as a great squad.

True, that guy is on an unbelievable run of form.  On that note, the missus has just told me that they (I assume his team mates) feed him goat before a game and when they feed him goat he scores.  Has this any basis in reality or is she confusing dreams with real life again?  If it's the later I'm scared she's having Shawn Goater related sex dreams.

    hi tommy

i believe the newcastle canteen lady spoke to somebody at freiburg and they gave her the ingredidents to make the traditional sauce that cisse was used to in senegal/ germany.

It annoys me slightly the medias surprise at him scoring, he was top scorer in the bundesliga for a side second bottom. The german league is now very very strong and probeynak and siggurdson have both scored for fun in the premier league after rarely scoring over there earlier in the season...

Complete agree about the Bundesliga.  I have a bad feeling I'm going to be hoping they are super dooper strong by the time the champs league final comes round.

In Response to Re: Many Rivers To Cross. A Diary. : anoying when that happens ive had it at the end on final tables before when its cut out. A good tip if you have nice neighbours and get on well with them is get there access code to log on to there wifi for emergencies that way if your router goes down you may get a week signal from next door but at least you have a chance to connect if something happens.

haha, the neighbours, where do I begin.....

I live in a maisonette (posh name for a flat).  It's part of a block of four and if you are in the street looking at it myself and the missus are top left.

We have nicknames for most of our neighbours in the street.  As far as our block goes:

    Bottom Left - The German.

I like the guy, the missus hates him.  His sneeze is loud and elongated that I now say bless you every time he does it, we hear it loud and clear.  Regular as clockwork at 11:30 we hear him slam his windows shut and this is normally followed by a loud crash.  This crash may or may not relate to the fourteen empty bottles of wine in his recycling every single week.  He lives alone but during the holidays his huge haired sister visits.  Well he said she's his sister, they walk down the road hand in hand and we once saw them in the pub getting pretty over familiar.  I wonder, is there a Norfolk equivalent in Germany?

    Top Right - Dot.

Full name Dorothy, she lives with her 6 year old daughter.  She may or may not be an escort.  She is Polish and registered disabled (registered enough for a blue parking badge) due to a really bad back.  A back bad enough for a badge but not bad enough to totter down our very steep hill with ten inch stilettos on.  The daughter is a delight, a very sunny child who is very quiet but we both feel sorry for her as she seems to be stuck indoors for much of the weekends/evenings.  There are gardens here but not a garden where she can play.  A few times I've seen her sat at her balcony door staring out and it gives me pains of sadness for her, a flat is not an ideal place for a child to grow up, and if that is the case then take your child to the parks and forests we have in abundance here a lot more often.  Regarding the sex work, several claims have been made by bottom right, we'll get to her in a bit.  Apparently Dot, who has told me she owns a cleaning company, has an abundance of overnight guests.  She does leave the flat on occasion wearing clothes that would make Essex girls blush.  Late at night we have heard her in a state of enjoyment, on the odd occasion with a gentleman's voice alongside.  Once with a lady's voice alongside.

    Bottom Right - Hyacinth.

Originally from Jamaica, Hyacinth lives with her son and her boyfriend.  She is, in my opinion, nuttier than a fruitcake.  If you are listening to a story from her it is guaranteed that the story will make less and less sense the longer you listen, to the point of breaking the laws of physics on the hour mark.  Also, after calling me Tom for six months, she moved to calling me Peter for a year, which got awkward when she put it in the Christmas card and we were yet to write ours. All three are friendly but hate anyone knocking at the door, attempting to conduct full conversations through two inches of wood rather than open up the door.  When the postie leaves a package at their place me and the GF flip a coin to see who goes, then I go anyway.  When they do open up the door you may get a whiff of something not illegal in the Netherlands.  She hates Dot with an unbelievable passion, I really think there is a two way dislike purely based by race by both parties.  Hyacinth has told me before some deplorable opinions about the Polish, and she is adamant that Dot is trying to be noisy to keep them awake at all times.  It started with 'constantly flicking a stone on the floor.'   The latest is, and I am not exaggerating, 'She has an illegal banging machine and if I call the police she will be arrested.'

These are my neighbours, which one should I ask to piggy back my WiFi with?

You write very colourfully Tommy. Although I hope for your sake Dot, Hyacinth and Juergen the German aren't secretive SKY Poker players and spot you on television in your new found fame, and put 2 and 2 together.
Although I would look forward to your posting of the confrontation that followed, really enjoying the non poker related diversions in the diary.

Thank you very much.  In hindsight I should have introduced them too you before now.  We'll be moving (with luck) in a month or two so not much more time, but I will let you know of their exploits.  I omitted The German's name, mainly due to the fact I can't spell it.  I think it's Deitlef.

Happy Harry's staying, Tommy? I certainly am as i'd a bad feeling they may snaffle Moyes as he's done a great job at Everton considering the cah he's had to spend. Don't you agree.

I had a wry smile when i saw your winnings for last month. I was chuffed to be be in profit toooo!!!!! And for the last four months......but for less than ten squid on in the last two. Now thats enjoying the game for little reward.

Enjoying your thread Tommy but god knows how you manage to keep your job tied down and still do that amount of poker. I was a matths teacher before ill health retirement gave me my life back again. Its great to be able to learn different skills(hence why i took poker up) andtravel for different experiencs and i can't say i miss it. You must have a good handle on things and i hear you do  radio show commentating too? A man of many skills.

    All the best

PS Didn't i hear there was an OFSTED inspection at your school next month.......................noooooooooooooo!

    JUST JOKING!!!

Liked your neighbour background story Tommy. Brought a smile to my face in a trying week, cheers.

Looking forward to all their responses after they all get a registered letter off me which points them to this thread. Unless, you or your better half catch the postman 1st ofc

Talking of postmen, why does Postman Pat have a black and white cat?

(because he could not afford a colour one!)

^^ you can have that one for free :)

Haha, that's not a bad idea.  We'll call it 'The Block.'  Episode one, Hyacinth is perturbed because it's late at night and Dot is entertaining company again.  She wants to do something, what should she do?

    1)  Jump up and down on the bed and through the medium of grunts and groans pretend that you are entertaining company too?

    2)  Bang on the ceiling with a broom-handle and scream 'Get there already!'

    3)  Run around your flat and scream 'Murder!  Murder!'

According to her, she actually did one of these things.  Feel free to guess, first right gets the prize of self satisfaction.

I feel I need to flush out the German's appearance.  He's a big lad, in height and width.  When not in his work suit he normally wears:

    Brown sandals and white socks
    Beige shorts
A T-Shirt normally with a fantasy scene on it like a dragon bellowing fire
    Backpack, both straps on shoulders.

The TV series is sounding better all of the time.

Not sure if I answered this one before but I'm quite happy to answer it again.  It boils down to the fact that I was sat with the GF when picking an avatar.  I let her choose (error).  She saw the blonde lady avatar, said 'That looks like me, and I've got that headband, go for that one.'  It's kind of stuck since then, to be fair I'm normally on Miniview so I rarely see it.

Cheers Prof, mentioning the O word just made me spit my tea out.

On the profits, I felt a little uncomfortable detailing that.  I like to GIQ but I felt with the rake race that stat needed to be in there.  There is little point making 2k+ in Cash for Points if you've dropped 5k in that month.  Until another challenge or such I will not be putting profits/losses in this thread.

With football, chuffed to bits 'Arry is staying.  You mention Moyes, I'm not sure where I stand with him.  He has done a fantastic job with Everton, next to no resources, always selling decent players and still competitive towards the right end of the table.  However Everton are easily my least favourite team to watch in the Premier League.  A few years ago I commentated on a West Ham v Everton League Cup match, it was so bad I legitimately caught the flu and was laid up for days after.  Now if Moyes was to take over a club like Spurs with more creative players and better funding, would he come out of his shell and manager a team with more flair or would he stick with what he's been doing and take the conservative route?  I can't answer that and we'll never know unless he's given the chance.  I would say though, and this will annoy all fans from the Red half of Merseyside, he is a much better manager than the much lauded Kenny Dalglish Yet Dalglish will end the season with one, maybe two cups and be recognised as much more successful.  I still think Moyes has done a much better job than him.  Football can be silly.

You're more than welcome Maxy, I hope the week gets better for you.

Postman?!?  I live up a hill and judging by the mail we get they only venture up here once a week.  Now the people who own the local curry house, they are made of sterner stuff.  I get a menu from them put through the door on a nearly hourly basis...

I have voted for the Mayor of London.  I did my normal thing when I vote, have no idea who to vote for before getting in the booth.  I might mention my picks later, right now I want to talk about what made my GF go mental in the booth next to me.  They write the serial number of your voting form next to your name on the registration sheet.  Therefore it is not a secret vote.  She went mental about this in the polling station and I tend to agree with her, if you did want to vote for an extreme end party (both the BNP and the Communist Party were on one of my sheets IIRC, two ends of the political spectrum with their own stigmas attached to them) you could be tracked.  I really don't like that, anyone know why they do this?  It seems to me to be a bit of a tool to further put the boot on minority/new/up and coming political parties, thus keeping all the power in the same places as always.
