    saturday 23/3/13 part 2

    won £3.72

    4 tables nl4

    b/roll £335.56 (up £3.74 this year...hoooray)  lol

just checked and i'm about £40 up so far this month, which is nice, and i'm now also showing a small profit, since
starting this cash adventure, way back on jan 1st
again,i'd like to thank everyone for all the help & support you have all given to me,as i know without it
i would have given up playing cash and gone back to dym's a long time ago.

happy with 2 winning sessions today, even though only small.
playing well within my b/roll at nl4 for the moment,as i am under no pressure what so ever,
which is nice, and i'm guessing exactly how one's poker should be.
also taking part in LARSONS nl4 challenge this week, which should keep me focused, and stop me from even thinking about playing nl10...again.  lol

    night all
    run good
    :)

    hi Paul,
yeah i'm good mate, just can't seem to get myself motivated atm, probably because i'm not making any money, which is ok as it's now all about the long term,ie;next year and beyond.

yeah,i got on a ramble there, sure you can understand where i'm coming from...lol
and it seemed to make sense in my head, but probably didn't come out to well,so i've deleted it now. lols

    basically though...
i feel i have more chances of winning playing just the 1 table atm.
think that was what i was getting at.

    best wishes mate,
you'll have to make allowances as i'm an old man and i really should be tucked up in bed..  lol

When you start to feel like NL4 is easy and you feel comfortable plus your wining like 5/7 sessions - then think about moving to nl10.

Your BR has nothing to do with the level you should play, it's how you feel that matters.

If you had £2000 - you should still play nl4

    good luck

    thanks rancid,
yeah,u r right it is all to do with how u feel that matters
i'm sure i could play nl10 with a £330 b/roll but i'm not happy if i was to lose say 3 or 4 buy-ins,so happy plodding along making a few quid,at nl4 for the time being.won the last few sessions, only small but winning anyway, which feels good, after struggling for so long.

see you were playing some nl20 last night, along with evilpingu, imagine that was fun.
    best wishes

    lost £12.32

    b/roll £338.20 (up £6.38 this year)+ 808 c4p to come..£5 odd i think)

    6 tables nl4  8 hrs

1st losing session for a while,so no complaints.
could have booked the win and taken a £15 profit.
played aggressively and raising up 3x or more when 1st in pot,so all good there.
happy with my overall game atm and it's changing, not always for the better it seems, week by week.

    March summary... won £33.63  hoooraaay.

    1st winning month,not much granted,but it's a start.
finally in profit since starting this cash malarky this year...£6.38

    April targets;
try and push on building b/roll and working on my game.
still along way to go but it feels like at last i've got some hope...
    (yeah,Bob Hope...no ******* hope,heard 'em all before)  lol

    that's all for now folks,
    run good in April,

reading through the post and had to comment on this hand,
i play 2/4 cash more or less everyday and presumed loose calls & awful play was less regular higher up the food chain,,, obviously not!!
i'm sure with your play, espically like you played this hand you'll have no problems turning £300 into, well whatever you want,,,

and if it doesn't work out come round and seek me out on the donk tables

    9 tables nl4

    b/roll £350.48   (up £12.28 this month) & (up £18.66 this year)

    c4p 653 = £5.22 to come.

not been playing much, hence not posting either.
still very happy with how i'm playing, much more aggressive (most of the time  lol),
been playing less as motivation isn't as good as it should be,probably due to not winning much, but making a small profit feels good.hope to continue playing nl4.
nl10 is not even in my thoughts atm, which i'm happy about.
hoping to get b/roll up to £500 then i might just start thinking about it again.
still a long way to go.

    Really mate?

I think you would do really well at higher limits, there's a lot more poker going on at slightly higher levels.

You are a solid, good player, I would say hands down you would be far superior to a lot of players at NL10.

But good luck getting up to £500, look forward to hearing you do it.

    Disagree.

I have no idea why this misconception is so common.

If somebody cannot beat the bad players on a consistent basis, you will not beat the fairly bad players at 10nl and will quite frankly get owned at 20nl and up.

    +1

This is definitely right. You may find in some spots some things work better like c-betting gets more folds because people won't just constantly station off with bottom pair, but overall, if someone can't beat 4NL, then they're unlikely to beat 10NL+ imo.

FWIW, Dev, I still think you should go back to less tables. If you put in a few hours 4 tabling say at 4NL, then you can still make decent regular profits and you'll have a much better idea of how you're getting on as a player. It'll give you SO much more time to check the HH when you beat someone and they muck (because you should ALWAYS look what they had), writing notes on people, making more player dependent decisions etc.

With the determination you have Dev and the amount of hard work you put in to beat DYMs, I'm sure you'll get there.
  • edited April 2013
Agree with what has been said above but i will just add that imo it is harder to win on a table with 5 bad players than it is on a table with 1 or 2 on it, the reason being that v 1 or 2 bad players you can isolate players with a wider range of hands and get full value when you hit but v 5 bad players it almost becomes impossible to isolate and you then have to rely more on getting premium hands because widening your range in this situation becomes -EV.

Because 2p/4p has more newbies playing on it i would expect the outdraws to be happening more often but if you adjust your game for this it should still be no problem as TINTIN proves every month.

    Good Luck.

    Daz.

    9 tables is pretty insane.

Much more productive to play 4 tables well, than 9 tables badly.

My absolute limit is 7 tables. Anymore than that and my brain just cant process the information quick enough. My comfort range is six tables. But even thats not a given, if I am slightly tired I might run with 4.

I agree you should be playing less.

Perhaps drop to 3 or 4. If you turn a good profit in a fortnight, then add one. If that doesnt seem as profitable, move back down.

Trial and error to some extent, but better to start less
