Hey Paul, still lurking. If you fancy popping into Maxally's virtual bar I'll happily shout you a beer :)

MTTs suck until you win, keep plugging.

Good dym night. Played 12 altogether, won last 7 and made £65 at them Played 3 mtts. Main mini and a £11bh Bh ans mini no good but had a decent run in main. Went totally card dead and then got a bit tittsed off with someone. I shoved A rag into 2 7 bigs stacks. Bb who's played evey hand and quickly tanks until last second and calls with AKcc. I hit and he gets there on river. 2 mins later I shove A10 for 8 bigs utg and he snaps A3. Gg me. Done for the night. Still battling cold. Work until dinner tomorrow and then off until Tuesday :) Had one pint this month. Need to find a friend and go pub soon. Derby made 8 changes for last nights game. Didn't really weaken it. We have so many players who are all much of a muchness. Far weaker than we were a couple of years ago before we started spending money. Without Hughes we have no creativity. I was so bored watching it and I'm a fan. Must have been pretty dreadful for the neutrals. I'm talking to myself on here these days but never mind :)

Yeah it was bloody awful to watch :D

I only sat through it cos I had a betting interest in the result.

Still finishing off a few more DYMs here but jammed into enough AAs on the bubble tonight to last me a lifetime. Think I'll count it as a win if I'm down as little as you were up

A big ole wave from up Norf....

Was an honour to be in your company for your only pint of the month, I had few more over the next couple of days... :-)

Just watched a bit of 2/5 spin up poker.

Player i'd never heard of joins. He posts his blind immediately. He limps every hand and calls any raise. Did £250 in 5 minutes.
Other side of it i spose is this. Another player that i haven't seen before was on £1300. He was limping in every hand as well and then betting £5 into £80 pots etc. I guess you can spin it up. For how long though? He was down to £300 when i left it.

It's nice that SKY who pride themselves on looking after the recreational players, promote the spin up games so well. Even better that they responsibly put on a month long spin up promo.
Guy who lost the £250 might well win a tenner this month in the promotion.

The world can be awful at times.

I've just seen the picture of Bradley Lowery with Jermaine Defoe. It brought tears to my eyes.
  • edited February 2017
There's also one of him today from BBC Sport where's he fallen asleep on Defoe at the hospital

Well gotta be happy with that. Still feel a bit rubbish and so i'm just going to play the mini rebuy now. Had a good hour at dyms and don't want to push the considerable luck that i had. £11s - 3/4 £16.50s - 2/3 £22s - 3/3 Nice quick £80 profit. Wish it was always like this :) Chatted a bit to lolly22. Has some very nice stats and has moved up the stakes with great ease. .. Bah someone just limp shoved AK like its 1999 v my QQ I didn't win :) Can't be arssed to rebuy Book, then bed and then wait for RLT to post on here about 16.50 tomorrow afternoon!

Nah, there's only one crusher I know with that kind of roi this year.
It's very good indeed. Considering that he's really old.

I think even Timmyrara would struggle to get 270% playing DYMs.

Looks more like the sort of score a wise old shark would get playing in deepstacks and PLO8 MTTS to me

    Playing the Derby rebuy
For anyone who doesn't know him, I introduce you to Ali "bag of bolllocks" Ahmed
At 800/1600 he limps in for 1600 from a 40k stack. 2 calls and the decent player in the small blind, who obv doesn't know Ali, shoves for 28K
Ali says "I gamble" and calls immediately with the 54. Small blind has K7 and the result is never in doubt.
Ali flops the straight and looks at me and says "he doesn't know me"

    Sigh as I wrote that
I raised his bb with AJdd. He obv calls and goes all in on flop of 982
    He shows the 94

    God bless Ali.

You probably remember, Paul, but back in the day at Gala Notts & elsewhere we only played Pot Limit. Proper game, pot limit, designed for grown-ups.

Ali had this way of putting all the inflection on the final word.

    I bet the POT

Half of the East Midlands used to try to imitate him.

    I bet the POT

He never seems to age, but he can't be a young man any more. Quite a sad story in his private life, he had a child who was severely & incurably unwell I believe.

Ali does inexplicable things at the poker table, & can be a bit of a PITA at times, but for the most part, we love him to bits.

    Is Taff still around?

I was sat at the cash table and saw that Ali came 3rd or 4th last night. Would have made a profit too as it's only 2 rebuys max :)

Very rarely see any of the old boys these days. Think a few still go to Alea but I don't play there. Went there some time ago and was surprised that they didn't have enough dealers. Played a bit of a dubious self deal comp and haven't returned.
Lala occasionally drops in at Derby. Ash Abdullah has come in a few times.

I've never seen Taffy at the new casino in Derby.
I did see him a couple of years ago at the UKPC. Cut quite a figure in his long black coat and arm in a sling. Noticed he was bothering the 'stars' with his bet sizing. Betting 80k ( or as many chips as he could pick up with his one hand)  into 25k pots etc :)

Jim, the cardroom manager, who took over from Rich Wooten, has left recently. Never seen someone who looked as though they hated their job as much as Jim. He did run things quite tightly though. The rest of the staff are all new and so I'm not sure how the poker will go at Derby from here on.

It's already changed quite a bit over the last year. So much angle shooting and staff who don't seem to know some basic rules and how to deal with offenders.
Could almost be back at Gala! ;)
    ....
Was chatting to a lad I know in there who very rarely plays on Sky. He quite likes us at the moment. Cashed for about £200 in Friday nights main and then won it Saturday night

Cold has gone and so I'm back to my normal cheerful self.
Derby haven't had a game for the last couple of weeks and so I'm looking forward to them getting back into action.
Was hoping to play some poker tonight but I doubt it will happen. Golf at 2 so I'll no doubt be too knackered again to play.

Just musing here. How would you react if someone said you were a multiaccounter? Or said that you were in full knowledge of someone else doing it?

I think I'd give a pretty hostile reply. I certainly wouldn't just ignore it.
    Interesting

I played golf today . I didn't get a single par, but in my defence it was incredibly windy! Best my playing partner though, and he usually beats me by a bucket (of balls normally). Positives.

If someone accused me of multiaccounting, I'd probably just agree to peeve off said villain. Don't see what it achieves to disagree. These types of people can't be swayed by reasoning and logic. May as well play along.

If I knew someone else was doing it, meh. I don't hang out with that kinda crowd anyway!

Golf is teasing me. £1200 subs are due and I've started to play quite well. Once paid I'll no doubt go back to normal.
Slightly shorter course at moment but no run balances it up
77 this afternoon was pretty good.

    77??

I can only dream of a 77.  Think my best ever is 85 on a par 72, and that was 10 years ago!

Just been testing out a Christmas present though.  Its called Zepp.  Measures your swing and gives you feedback on what you need to alter.  Needless to say it says I should alter everything.  Sighballs.

    Eventful day so far.
Got bitten by a bloody dog this morning. He absentmindedly left one of his teeth in my arm. Well not quite but it smarted a bit.

I'm now at a soft play place whilst my Mum shops. Tubby Bears. Not our usual kind of soft play establishment. Lots of fat women sat around eating cake who don't seem at all bothered about their unruly children. Harry seems oblivious though :)

Hope to get round to some poker tonight. My only game all week has been the priority freeroll I joined an hour in.

    Ditched Evoque idea.

Got a chance to go and play golf for a week in Turkey. It just happens to be a week when I have leave booked.
Good luck me getting that past Mrs J

Played a bit last night and won £35. One of those nights where it felt like a loss though. Only played 5 dyms and won 3 little ones and lost the £16.50 and the £22. The £22 was annoying as I had a 5k stacks and managed to bust. Didn't actually make a mistake.
Bust a £22bh just off the money after being in really good shape.
    Came 3rd in a £11bh where I had a lousy exit.

Still, spose is be fairly happy if I made £35 every night when running bad :)

    5k stack was 5 handed
On bubble blinds had gone to 300/600 and I was down to 4k. Folded to me in sb and I shoved AJ v 3k stack. He had KJ and rivered the K. Bust next hand

    Revenge was sweet :)

As Geldy mentioned I had a good run in the QuickDraw
Good job really as I stunk at dyms tonight.
Was short in QuickDraw down to about 10 left and then ran really well. Was pleased with a call I made  with 2nd pair on the river for my mtt life and after that it went pretty well. Got owned heads up but never-mind :)

    £280 profit nights are ok

    Knackered
After a fairly late night I teed off in the dark at 7 this morning.
Didn't play as well as the other day but had a bit of luck.
Round in 80 so very happy with that.

Derby haven't conceded 3 or 4 this weekend either so all good

I know its a bit ridiculous asking over the internet, but I want to improve my golf game so have to ask.

Best advice for improving your golf game?  Ignoring the obvious 'lots of practise' of course.

I seem to just be getting worse...
